Hi Carlos ! I know you teach a lot of slang which is awesome, can you also make videos teaching cantonese in general??? My husband is a native cantonese speaker and born in HK. I like how you teach and apply what is taught, he finally wants me to learn cantonese and I was wondering if you'll ever teach conversational cantonese. I speak quite a bit of mandarin but he doesn't so we mostly speak English together.
These videos are great and informative, but I wish you could break down the slang word for word so I can understand what the individual words mean and where the slang comes from when the words are put together.
Hi Carlos! Thanks for uploading such a great videos to teach some slank of cantonese. The food you eat on the end of the video is eggettes right? Really want to know what is the cantonese name of eggettes. Please reply me. Thank you!
I'm not sure what the correct English name is, but in Cantonese they are called "雞蛋仔" or "Gai Daan Zai". In English I usually call them "Egg Puffs". Glad you like the videos!
Your video is really awesome and funny. But as a guangzhouese who lives in a city nearby hongkong,I think cantonese is really a complex stuff. Like there are still a little bit differences between guangzhou style cantonese and hk style cantonese, such as "ram"of computer hk people will say "ram" directly without any specific word for it,but we'll say “内存(noi tsun)” for ram in gz. And also hk people say "程式(chain six)" for applications or softwares, we guangzhouese say "程序(chain jur )"instead in gz. Keep going cuz all in all cantonese is really a characteristic and intelligible language for ppl to learn ! XD
It should be 你话事 = nei wah si, but you can say 你决定 = nei kut ding to sound more polite. I think 你话事 is not rude at all. You can also say 你拣 = nei gaan which means you choose
HAHAHA I've never gotten free fish balls !!!!! Too pro. Thanks for these videos, I feel like when I go to HK they immediately know I'm foreign because I don't use a lot of native HK slang, thanks for reminding me of these good phrases, helps a lot!
Carlos! How do you survive in Hong Kong? I find it almost impossible to rent a place that is safe for a girl to live. Even vacationing there is a hassle. Food is cheap but living expenses is too high.
Hey Carlos, Closest translation to English is "Bar none". However, to safe yourself awwwy from troubles, please don't say it in sentence with any Cantonese word. Thank you for supporting Cantonese culture!Hongkonger from New York
Carlos, I realize the standard for videos with Cantonese to have the Chinese subtitles in Mandarin which you have here. However, since this video is teaching Cantonese, you should have the Chinese subtitles in written Cantonese.😏
My vocabulary is terrible, so my question is what does the word "ding" mean here? I was always under the impression that it meant "argue", therefore "mou dak ding" would mean "can't be argued".

CarlosDouh is that Gai is for chicken and Daan for Egg and Zai is for what?
Btw, keep waiting for your new video. 😉
Ryan Cheung Zai for son or young boy
+Wayne Choi (AsuranZala) the meaning is contextual, here it is a suffix denoting a smaller, diminutive form.
