She goes into more detail on each one, but for those who don't want to watch the whole video... 1. Repeat accomplishments 2. Complaining about your circumstances (life is hard, get over it lol). You can talk about hardships, but show that you learn from them, not that you're just a victim. 3. Don't waste time on storytelling. 4. Not addressing future. You SHOULD talk about your future goals, dreams, career, etc. 5. Choosing a easy prompt. Chose the ones that best describe you, not the easiest ones. 6. Too much emphasis on empathy and kindness. (Focus on problem solving, rigor, competitiveness as well). 7. Trying too hard to be unique and creative. 8. Not repurposing stuff that you already wrote.
Ken M this is v late response but there aren’t really any “easy” prompts, but only the ones that you can provide the most detail and experience for. choosing the ones that best fit you and your history the most will help you fill out the question more easily compared to other ones
Get Grammarly. It tells you how your writing sounds (optimistic, formal, egocentric, disapproving, etc.). This only works in the little answer boxes though.
Thank you so much for this video. I was building up so much anxiety and pushing it off because I lacked any confidence in starting. But this video was super helpful, I feel like I have a much clearer view of what I’m going to do and focus on! I regret not looking this up earlier. Thank you thank you!
@aurora b same honestly and I’ve still been working so slowly and procrastinating sigh 😪 It’s just so hard to formulate essays man... But tbh we still got 5 full days to go hard, better than one lol
I do admissions interviews for Brown and graduated from UCB undergrad and UCLA graduate. I fully understand why you needed to transfer to USC, so I will have to forgive you. I am just taking a job as a college applications counselor at a high school in China. It is mainly to help IB Chinese students apply to English speaking universities successfully. So even though I have done admissions interviews for Brown for years, since that is where i started my undergrad, videos such as yours are very helpful. In fact, we interviewers DO NOT know what the application questions are each year, esp since our set of questions remains essentially the same every year. We do not have the power to get a student into any univ, but we are only filters and info collectors. Anyway, I just want to tell you that your videos are excellent. Your maturity is perhaps your best quality in them. This is the first video I have seen of yours, but I will watch more now and perhaps be using your advice for my job. Unfort, students in China cannot access FB, but I will give them your website.
@@ConquerCollegeAdmissions Exactly. Thank you. I'll very likely use my VPN to have them watch your videos, to be followed by discussion toward an application plan.
Should I have used all of the word count for each one, I had exactly 350 on the first one but they gradually seem to get shorter as you go down the list. Should I have made them all closer to the max?
I would recommend talking about what have you been contemplating over, are you interested in both biology and English and would like to study both? vice versa. Talk about how you have grown as a person from a difficult experience or how you have improved from a positive experience.
Allison! That's completely fine-- no worries. Show them what you've tried so far and how you fostered your interests and that you want to continue learning more in college to gain clarity!
Hello, I know this video was made a while ago so idk if you will see this comment, but does the essay have to be broken down into seperate paragraphs? Or can it be just one big paragraph
@@kobebryant620 i read its better to break into "mini" paragraphs or break it down into a couple sentences because it makes it easier for an admission person to read it than reading one big paragraph and making it into separate paragraphs will keep their attention more so i would advise putting it into separate paragraphs

what are the easiest prompts?
i like tacos exactly. That’s why they’re the easiest
