@@DoctorRimfire_PhDhe's saying that you need to shoot less to get Good with 5.7 due to low recoil. You would need to shoot 5.56 more to get Good with it
I was keenly interested in the 5.7 caliber for home defense because of its size and ballistic qualities. But that cost...training would be expensive! I like that it can pierce soft body armor, yet doesn't keep traveling through walls (from what I remember). And the smaller diameter allows more capacity than 9mm. My thinking is that if one or more are crazy enough to crash into your home, they just might be wearing soft armor.
Mr. Porter, thanks for your balanced, thorough review. Based in part on your review, I went ahead and purchased a Ruger LC carbine in 5.7x29mm and couldn't be happier with it.
This could be a winner for Ruger but, for now it's priced a little to high not to mention the ammunition is to expensive. Great review as always, thanks Don for bringing this to us. God Bless (us all)
Thanks Don, when the carbine first came out my local shop owner got one and was trying to get me to buy it as he knew I had the Ruger 57 pistol (that I bought from him), however the price of ammo at the time of a dollar or more per round kept me away.
