I never owned it and still thought this event is pure scam, but holy man I forget they took it away from some people, just to sell it back for 10x or more price...
I never owned it as I did not start playing WoWS soon enough - I had applied to get into the closed beta but wasn't successful. With the debacle in WoT where they had pre-order packages with vehicles that were 'never ever' going to be available again (the Heavy was the M6 Mutant) and they put them into the gift shop a year or so later (and then withdrew them after the reaction only to put them back a while later). Anything this company does isn't a surprise.
The kita back then was way better than this version of kita. The old kita had the 20K shima torps with the 12K Damage output. Plus the reload was faster and it didnt have DWT's for secondary torps. Honestly this event is one huge scam. Only the whales will get them. I can get it but with the way they reworked the ship, Its not worth the coal, steel or research points to get them. I can get better use out of all 3 resources to get better ships that are up to current times. Its a hard pass for me.
Lets be clear: no ship is worth so many resources, unless its play by itself and always win. Saying that, the question is if it is decent enough to be played frequently

Long range hydro wasn't a thing and radar wasn't a problem (tho i think it already existed...). The original ship was never designed, they just dropped in a historical ship and hoped for the best. The results were hillarious at best. 3. "lack of noobs at T10" ..can I introduce you to reality ? Why T10 ? This ship was removed for a reason and just like submarines it should never be added to the game. You forgot to mention the rampant prevalence of radar. Especially Russian 12km radar. The 7.9km detect may seem god tier, but with how squishy Kitakami seems, if it gets lit up in open water, chances are it's done.
Well the good news is: It's not the OP ship many were afraid of. Seems a bit like Jager; If you land a perfect salvo the thing is a monster. But, it's so situational, anything short of that makes the ship inferior to ships like Jinan, Austin, Mino, etc.
I fail to see the good part tbh. This ship ranks among the worst additions to the game. You know you will have those in your team shooting deep water torps at DD's 14km away or yoloing in and loosing a gunfight against a Shimakaze. Then again if they are on the enemy team nobody will want to leave the map border behind their spawn because of the POTENTIAL 40 torpedo wall of skill. The staggered reload makes it even worse since even if you see and dodge a Kitakami volley you have no way of knowing if he is dry and reloading or if he just sent 1 launcher with the remaining 4 on this side loaded and waiting ... nor do you know how far the current reload is.. For every other cruiser or DD you can count the salvo and you know for a fact that you have a fixed window to act when all launcher are fired. For Kita, as long as he doesn't fire all 5 launchers at once, you have literally no way of knowing when his next launcher his ready. And with literally ~48k alpha per launcher (without skills,"slightly" more for the alternative deepwater torpedoes) you don't wanna risk running into a loaded and waiting launcher either... Jaeger doesn't even remotely compare to this cancer because contrary to Jaeger Kitakami torpedoes have enough alpha to actually 1shot you. So you literally hide behind an island, lube up your behind and hope that someone spots and/or sinks Kitakami before it finds you.....and don't even start about having to push into an area where a Kitakami was seen... For a while matches will be like 3+ Kitakami per side with everyone who isn't in a carrier or submarine having a "real blast"....add the standard carrier nad double submarine and you are in for some fun and engaging gameplay...
@@eflbrth the low tiers of this line arr rough. But the Jinan is very good. Maybe a bit hard to play. But if you know how to aim your torps and use your guns you can destroy anything.
It can be called a handicapped Jinan. I absolutely love Jinan because of its 32mm upper belt plating, hilarious AA along with DFAA that can make CV players cry as well as 40 deepwater torps. Smoke and good guns.
Not even remotely close to being a jinan. the kita of the old was as deadly as the jinan of today. It had a 1.5 min reload time to all torps and it all loaded at the same time. You was literally shitting out torps every minute and a half. Not to mention they were 20K torps with the 12K damage out put (24K'ish damage per torp). They literally neutered and gutted that ship and its not worth the resource to get it.
I remember this memeboat from beta, back when it was a T8. One trick wonder, but that trick was pretty brutal. Sidenote: anyone else find it hilarious that they release kitakami to the whales in the same patch they give a bunch of newbies free yamatos? LoL
@@Tibsbb partially true. Kitakami's deck is exposed 30mm citadel, so Harugumo can citadel it with HE. Anyone or anything with 30mm overmatch can overmatch Kitakami citadel and anything with 30mm+ HE pen can HE Citadel Kitakami...which includes almost every ship Kitakami can run into....

Imagine how expensive it is to unlock this instead of a Jinan Shima or a Research ship. Its such a unbelievable bad deal. Cant believe that people spend this many ressources and lets be honest money on this. Mark my words: There will be a ship even mor expensive than this in the future.
@@gamingrootz4411 nah its not hard at all to get steel and RB ships. I've been playing for a little over a year, and already have 2 steel and 2 RB ships without sweating or spending any money on them
I love how easy it is to citadel a kitikami with a dd. Altho i did get killed by one as i wasnt aware of the torp switching capability lol. The thing was launching deepwaters so i thought it was safe to rush and not worry about torps ha. This was when it first started showing up as a test ship in my games
when i first saw the event i knew that i would just wait the 2years for a normal release lol As a Huge KC fan i've wanted Kitakami since forever, mostly because of collection purposes, but i would probably play her like once and never again, so yeah, i won't even try to get her (also hate how WG made her "Over Gimmicky")
I love the torp cruiser of KC especially Kiso, she got a CA level of gun power but still have that insane torp stat and ability to use Kouhyoteki,or basically throwing a suicide mini submarine Ah,i miss that day, malding the Kitakami's torpedo cut in to instakill the boss till i loss all my resources and buckets
I stumbled into one about a month or so ago, I guess someone was testing it. My DD spotted it very briefly and never saw it again, but the torps… it was a horizontal rain coming at us all the time. Fortunately the guy had poor aim and never hit anyone but it denied us the flank.
I had a guy in like 6-7 of my games with a kitakame. He waited a lot longer for torps, stayed way closer and used his guns a lot. Looked for opportunities and one shot with torps. He won every game.
You need to be using that smoke in an ambush role to dev strike isolated BBs and heavy cruisers. Like a big Pailo Emilio. When you cant do that working closely with your team for area denial and to stop pushes. It doesnt seem like the ship is particularly strong though. As many have said theres actually several other ships in the game that can do similar on better gun platforms.
The Deepwater torpedoes don't hit cruisers. The normal torps have terrible alpha and very poor spread, it's unlikely you can devstrike any heavy or super cruiser, especially since they usually have hydro.
It seems like the best way to play it would be to keep one side full while the other you do your more often drops with? Then if you get a nice juicy target you just flip to the other side with your excellent ruddershift/turning circle and dump the load.
Id have given the ship a 3min 40sec reload to get all the torps back at once. Also it to have freisland main gun reload with minotaur AP performance while keeping its current HE.
I was thinking that too. Sending a tiro wall that goes across the map. Devistated blitz battles but was a minor annoyance in GB. I use to arm mine with aa guns to power level crews.
Thx for the great review. Yeah like you mentioned, this ships is not OP but the other ships can do what this ship is capable of. The best part of Kitakami seemed to be launching 40 torps at a time. So, I feel like it might be better if WG add reload booster for all launchers as consumable. 2 or 3 reload boosters might be decent and a player can add one more by captain skill. I don’t have enough research points and recourses to get the ship all combined, so I’m not too worried about not getting this ship. But your review with actual battles is always entertaining and educational. Looking forward to watching more of Kitakami videos in near future. Best.
Seems like a Benham that can do a yolo-run in smoke like a Paolo Emilio and take out multiple ships. Could be a fun ship but I'm not going to spend all those resources for it.
Fun fact: you can citadel these with cruiser HE from any angle basically, provided you have decent enough pen. I have citadeled a Kitakami in a Goliath from the rear like 4 times.
this ship enters into a stealthy activity of surprise attack between islands and flanking... based on the information presented in the offensive arsenal and armor... it must be effective in surprise attack (where the enemy least expects it)...
I remember back in the days of playing Navyfield, this ship would just launch waves of torps into the enemy team and everyone would try to run away instead of crossing the T.
About a month ago I played against one. I think I was in my Somers. He was a good player and held his own in the early-mid game. I'd found his general location by the mid-late game, and both teams were under half. He was kiting me and it was very difficult to spot him for more than a couple of seconds as I maneuvered to avoid torps. I had chipped away at his health but he eventually got me with a torp. In no-CV games, and in decent hands, this is a bitch to play against. I can't imagine troll-divisions of 3 of them.
I think the Jager is a better value. This ship dropped from a Christmas container. It is a DD with a detection of 5.4 K. The torps speed is 90 knots in 5x3. Each set of three reloads in 65 seconds. Damage is 7533. The top speed is 38.9 and is equipped with a 120 second 8% speed boost. It has 4 heals. The turning circle 670 meters with 3.4 second rudder shift. No smoke. The attributes of each ships is nice. What I can't do is compare the battle impact each brings. A comparison contrast of these two ships would help the community especially given the cost of the Kitakami.
Kitakami really feels like a T10 squishier Yolo. I mean engine boost+fuel smoke means unless the ship you are charging down has radar/hydro they can't do much of anything to stop you outside of blind fire, and speaking as someone who has had a Kitakami rush around an island in it's fuel smoke with no active way to detect it, it feels just as bad as getting rushed by a Yolo Emilio. Like I honestly do not understand why Wargaming brought this thing back if they were going to make it so bad for general use, but also frustrating to play against. Like sure the torp mechanics do make a triple div of these a lot weaker, but it also makes the ship so situational that it's just not worth it. I mean even at each set of 4 torps taking 60 seconds, that's still 5 minutes to load 40 torps, Jinan does that every 5 minutes as well, only between doing that every 5 minutes, it's throwing 20 torps in the water every 2 minutes. Only Jinan has good guns on top of that. I mean if we break this down, Kitakami is 40 torps every ~5 minutes, Jinan is 40, 20, 20, 40 in that same time. So as a torp cruiser, it's not even the best. Yoshino can dump 32 20km torps into the water in almost the same time. It takes Yoshi an extra minute. Only Yoshi's 20km torps can hit everything, and Yoshi has guns. Fucking Yodo can put out 48 torpedoes in 5 minutes that travel 15km. The only advantage Kitakami has is the fuel smoke and engine boost, basically making it Paolo Emilio with a citadel a tier higher. I'm not saying I would have wanted old Kitakami back, 40 torps as often as Jinan can fire off 20 is a bit much, I'm saying Wargaming should have just let this ship die. Or used it for some special game mode only. Imagine an operation where your entire team is made of old Kitakami and you have to ether attack into or defend something and team damage is turned back on. That would be funny as hell. Or they bring back the battle royal mode and the only ship choice is an old Kitakami, so it's a 12+ person free for all with everyone just spamming torps everywhere. That also would be fun as hell. Instead we get this. A mix between a sub and Paolo Emilio, with a citadel.
i used to have this back in the day . i found a lot of team mates would troll in front of you trying to get you to torp them so they could complain . lol, it was a great little ship.
So to be clear, you are the super unicum & I am not. That said, I was surprised by the way you tried to use this ship. Honestly, I would think the idea is the "massive wall of skill torpedo attack" sort of like a Shima, but more extreme. Hence I would assume we would stay quiet for the first 5 minutes until our torps are maxed out. Then fire one whole side of the ships torps as a wall of skill attack. Then circle around & look for a target for the other broadside of torps to launch another wall of skill. Depending on how long that takes maybe the other side of torps is ready or will be soon. I actually think it's supposed to be a fairly boring ship that simply launches 2 major attacks in a battle and then in the "late game" you just use what's available. On the other hand, it also could just be WG fucking over it's players with a ship that looks super OP at a glance only to find out after all your resources are gone that it's a dog turd.
This ship requires way more patience than you have. If you plan to launch single rack on CD then just play something that can reload faster, that's not the point of the ship. Point is to prepare massive wall of skill, wait for perfect opportunity and decide match with single massive launch. You are scalpel, not a club.
I just wanted to say thank you. After watching this video, you helped me decide if I'm going to dump the resources to grab this ship, but this looks absolutely god-awful to play. I understand they had to do a balancing act and giving what it's capable of doing they had to give it a lot of weaknesses, but this does not look fun or enjoyable in the least bit.
Good video. Legends player, with a notable fondness for weird Premiums. Certainly heard of the original Kitakami. I'm guessing this version will EVENTUALLY come to Legends, and she sounds interesting. Whether I can actually afford her is another story. :)
I blew a bunch of coal and steel before really researching this, which now i regret. I'm gonna take on the challenge and grind her out with Coal and RB points. It's a long grind, but I'm up for it. I got the Harugomo line reset 4x at this time since I had 1.5M free xp sitting. At least, I can get to Defence and call it there 😅
@GeneralHood92 I heard the same about Thunderer, and Benham, and Schlieffen, and Shima, etc. Ppl hate to rag on other ppls botes. Play what you want and concentrate on killing stuff instead of comparing ur dock to others
Remember this is alrd a nerfed state compared on her CBT. Her CBT was way more powerful. She has Smoke Screen back then. And Deepwater Torpedoes never was a thing so it can killed any class including teammates. PLUS. Back then 20km torps have the same detection range as Gearing Torps. And it still have the same speed as other Type 93s. And those torps reloads independently means you can deploy 40 torps every 2-3 mins. Yep. They were seriously broken back then. Just imagine throws these 20 side torps and you can do triple kills with single Torp Salvos. But also back then shells doesnt over pen or bounce much. I did a simple math. Tbh, I prefer Kitakami having normal IJN torps that reload every 3 mins on all launchers than 5mins broadside reload. Now I’m not sure if Kuma hulls are small enough to have a Smolensk Syndrome. But for safety avoid gun fight as much as possible. Avoid Cruisers. You are torpedo boat destroyer (with citadel) who can deploy lots of torps. And due to Kuma hull, He citadel tends to happen, ALOT OF TIMES.
the best thing about this event is that this ship seems to be useless and the special camo for 20 phases looks ugly. Having said that, I think that this ship will be for players who will wait these 6 minutes, fire all their torpedoes at once and die, which doesn't seem very fun to play against
Yeah I had it. At that time we could had only 2 boat per side.. troops wave it's insane. I don't know why really it get remove. And now they sell it back.. what da heck...
Kitakami is all about lurking around islands and ambushing people with loads of torps before pulling back around the corner of the island while your opponent(s) eat all the torps and die. That's why WG removed it. The average WOWS player is a herp a derp round the corner and lose 80% of their HP type of guy and this ship specifically punishes that behavior. Cue shenanigans and why WG pulled it from the game.
What do you think about WG giving out the Yamato or 900k fxp and 15 days premium for free to people who didnt long in for 30 days while the rest of us got a box and 5 days premium time?
for real, they should give every player the same, past month wss the same, for newer players or comebsck ones they were given them like 7 premium ships
@0neLoneClone well yea I guess that is a good amount of free xp. I don't really use much free xp personally tho. Not yet anyways. Got quite a bit saved up currently. I'm free to play player so the prem time is nice and the mega box has a great drop rate for a ship. I got nueve de julio from mine. Not exactly something I wanted but it's actually kind of decent with its healing at tier 7. Plus it's prem so can make decent credits. Credits are more important to me than free xp currently. I do see your point tho. Maybe they could have given free xp to everyone but still more to the returning players. O well
i will always remember the time i was grinding the Old Colorado, and ended in a mtach in the old diagonal Islands of Ice with a full div of Kitakamis on the other team, and of course they were in my flank, but i ended up killing all 3 of them, just after they lanched their walls xD (1 may have been a KS, but whos counting :V)
Either you die instantly from anything or you wait 5 minutes for a likely huge whiff in torps & become useless... glad it isn't anything like people panicked over.
I feel like it is played like a pan-asian cruiser, but nerfed all along exept maybe the torps. This is amplifies the poor battle impact: People mostly push agressively (what you need) , when the battle is decided anyway.
Potato, the problem with Kitakami is that she was designed to make long-range night attacks on a Battleship line. That's a _very_ particular situation; the result being that she doesn't fit any Meta whatsoever. If WoW had Night Battles (and they should), she would be a devil & a menace. Without them, she's an oddball, and probably not worth owning/playing. (Unless you are a collector of oddballs &/or everything. )
There's no point in trying. Despite having SAP secondaries, their reload (10.7s) is so bad the hitting dpm is a sorry 27k. Only Vermont, Thunderer, and Conqueror's hitting dpm is lower than that.
I was part of the STs when WG dared to revive again the Kita. I committed so many friendly killings lol! It was junk but a deadly piece of junk for literally everyone
Will I get Kitakami?` Short answer: no (even if I wanted, I lack the funds) Long answer: Even if I had the funds, no ship is worth that price. Say you're an sneaky ninja guy and don't care about defence, the coal or steel price is close to six times what you pay for any T10 if you use a coupon. Heck, even if you are interested in Defence, 136k steel is close to triple the price of what you pay for Lauria or Bourgogne (using the coupon). The whole event is just a mechanism of WG to get rid of excessive amounts of steel/coal/RB/premium time.
I honestly don’t understand why so many resources. I got the Jinan one month ago and I just love that ship. Good guns and torpedoes everywhere. Why should people go for this thing?!
But let's think about it... From a milking playersbase perspective (WG) Put it in this current situation > Event ends with 1% of players having her > give her a buff to make her OP > let the the players be keen to sell their kidneys to get her for two years >> prepare a popcorn and watch the true milking 😂😊
In the last few months i started to collect everything for kitakami. Now i am sitting on 140k research tokens and i dont want to spend it anymore because the ship doesn’t look that gamebraking like i thought it would probably be. So i think i m just gonna pass on it and only get defence plus some juicy legendary modules
It's a useless gimmick, but as IJN fan I really wanted this one. I was saving resources for a year. As it was unclear, I was saving all of them. And still I don't have enough. And you can't even throw money to get it. Well that's a good thing I guess ..
Its like buying that 500€ app that just to flex with the App icon. Believe me you wont impress people with this. You just look stupid. Spend the money for your family having a great time at christmas instead or donate it on charity. That would be a flex.
It's only for the flex imo since it looks like a camo Lesta's art department would make for a 'win 10 battles / get 10 incaps / etc.' event chain. As for the ship itself... as everyone has said if you want 40x torps AND battle impact, Jinian already has that and doesn't have a 40k RP FOMO tax attached to it.
Looks like, if you have Asashio, play it instead. Would I like to have the Kitakami? Yes but it is definitely not worth it. (I'm an IJN torp boat main) I remember when Hayate was 2M FXP and is now just a coal ship. (though I hear WG Russia is thinking of giving it TRB and smoke) I think the Kitakami is targeting whales, but only experianced ones who have enough experiance to play the ship and get something out of it. And the high price delays the introduction of it in game in any meaningful numbers to delay news of how bad it is. A reason WG killed the Forum to limit information. A LWM review could kill it. This grind reminds me of the Puerto Rico event but maybe without a good ship at the end of it. But maybe if this ship sucks it might make the quick torpedo change mechanic more likely to be implemented. (it would be great on the Asashio) The method used in the Yamagiri was just too slow. My take on the mechanic is that historically you are not changing the torpedoes but changing the depth and speed/range settings on the torpedoes, something that was done with the torps in the tubes.
When I heard how the kita was coming back, my first thought was DOA, my second was Jinan is so much better all around ship. That being said, I don't mind meme ships, however, they have to be priced accordingly. This is for the old school whales with massive backs and FOMO to empty their hoarded rss, its not meant for the rest of us. TBH, this ship is back into the game like 4 or 5 years too late.

@@orztaku The ship isn't cancer just because the player base can't play worth a damn.
@ILoveforGames kita gets 10 tops per minute, 5 per side so it's close.
Idk... I rather get the Jinan that can launch the same amount of torps while having good guns
good guns is a brave statement but yeah
@@eflbrthThey actually start a lot of fires while having (atleast in my build) 450.000 HE DPM.
@eflbrth Jinan is a fantastic little gun boat. Too many people just build it for torps which is wrong.
OK @Choukai_Chan and @yomamasaurusre9571 you might have convince me to go back on my grind then. I was so deseperately stuck at tier 7 of the line.
Jinan’s torp can hit cruiser BTW
So can Kitakami @@seal8688
I remember this memeboat from beta, back when it was a T8. One trick wonder, but that trick was pretty brutal.
Sidenote: anyone else find it hilarious that they release kitakami to the whales in the same patch they give a bunch of newbies free yamatos? LoL
From what I've seen so far, using high caliber HE on Kitakami is a lot more effective than the AP.
Could probably get SAP citadels on the exposed citadel lol.
@@seraphis Anything with 406mm or more will citadel with HE. Anything with 315mm will citadel with IFHE.
In Nevsky my AP did nothing but overpen. HE did cits. I was only about 4 km in range though.
It is the good old trick of no armor is best armor.

Imagine how expensive it is to unlock this instead of a Jinan Shima or a Research ship. Its such a unbelievable bad deal. Cant believe that people spend this many ressources and lets be honest money on this. Mark my words: There will be a ship even mor expensive than this in the future.

I love how easy it is to citadel a kitikami with a dd. Altho i did get killed by one as i wasnt aware of the torp switching capability lol. The thing was launching deepwaters so i thought it was safe to rush and not worry about torps ha. This was when it first started showing up as a test ship in my games
Thanks for confirming my suspicions about this ship. Zero impact meme machine.
when i first saw the event i knew that i would just wait the 2years for a normal release lol
As a Huge KC fan i've wanted Kitakami since forever, mostly because of collection purposes, but i would probably play her like once and never again, so yeah, i won't even try to get her
(also hate how WG made her "Over Gimmicky")
I love the torp cruiser of KC especially Kiso, she got a CA level of gun power but still have that insane torp stat and ability to use Kouhyoteki,or basically throwing a suicide mini submarine
Ah,i miss that day, malding the Kitakami's torpedo cut in to instakill the boss till i loss all my resources and buckets
12:41 LMAO that quick death XD XD
Never have i ever clicked so fast on video 😂
Good to see it has lots of weakness's on top of being very hard to get. Plus it gives some yolo vibes
of all the torp ships, Asashio, U-4501, Jinan, Paolo Emilio, Yamagiri/Shima, Halland, are all much more fun to play, in different ways
I dont understand how 4501 is fun to play. Damage to BBs is mediocre at best (6-7k), and you usually will die after attack.
@@Slava_Yarmolenko in my experience, most people don't really hit you because you're fast
It seems like the best way to play it would be to keep one side full while the other you do your more often drops with? Then if you get a nice juicy target you just flip to the other side with your excellent ruddershift/turning circle and dump the load.
Still have PTSD from the CBT of this ship sending its gifts out of smoke and seeing a wave of red coming out of it
thank you for the demo on this. 2 years it is
You actually believe WG when they say no other way to get this ship for two years? Remember, no subs in the game only in special events?
Honestly, i think this ship was way overhyped seeing how it came out. Also could you do a video on the Stord '43, I'm curious how that ship is.
Making Defense look like the deal of the year. Jinan seems like the better value.
Damn so that's how frustrating it feels to miss that many torps :)
Id have given the ship a 3min 40sec reload to get all the torps back at once. Also it to have freisland main gun reload with minotaur AP performance while keeping its current HE.
AA Defense rating is a 9? Unbelievable! Kitakami is literally CV food!
Did you think it was going to be some AA battery lul me torp everything tism drool experience
Also it has a 40mm exposed citadel roof. Have fun getting devstruck by nakhimov rockets or midway HE bombs
yeah unlike every other ship right lol
@@mnl6042ikr. I think the only ships that aren't outright cv food are subs and other cvs
Does it matter? Even with 90 AA rating T10 CVs would get 3-4 drops on it without issues.
One of my fav ship back to good old navyfield days
I was thinking that too. Sending a tiro wall that goes across the map. Devistated blitz battles but was a minor annoyance in GB. I use to arm mine with aa guns to power level crews.
I remember playing this ship really *really* briefly out of the closed beta way back in the day and it just completely filling the map with torps.
Jager on steroids with a citadel
Well jäger at least has a fast torp reload
This ship is really tricky just like I-56 and like I-56 this should do well in asymmetric battles.
The torpedo carrier - TCV
It's fatal flaw is ship based torpedos. The superior version is submarine launched torpedos.
i used to have this back in the day . i found a lot of team mates would troll in front of you trying to get you to torp them so they could complain . lol, it was a great little ship.
This video singlehandedly removed any and all FMO I might’ve had for this event. 😅
This ship definetly now worth that amount of resources, since it is very hard to play a tier 6 kuma body at tier X.
Tier 4 ;)
And it loos boring, I would rather play Jonan over Kitakami
Now or not?
Yeah tier 4 even.
@@bradenhagen7977 For these resources definetly never.
This ship requires way more patience than you have. If you plan to launch single rack on CD then just play something that can reload faster, that's not the point of the ship. Point is to prepare massive wall of skill, wait for perfect opportunity and decide match with single massive launch. You are scalpel, not a club.
Jinan does the same but like much much better
and for free
As a torpedo main seeing others not know fish fu is heartbreaking.
You can also smoke up CL, DDs, BBs to save them or help them dps down a ship.
I missed this ship from Closed Alpha and Beta days. Still has the highest Teamkill ratio.
So it's 136000 steel for a Kuma that can't torp DD's or cruisers? Even If I could afford that it's a hard pass. Great review as always tho PQ.
You take 4 seconds to change from deep water torps to standard ones. The 2 types have different stats.
Good video. Legends player, with a notable fondness for weird Premiums. Certainly heard of the original Kitakami. I'm guessing this version will EVENTUALLY come to Legends, and she sounds interesting. Whether I can actually afford her is another story. :)
good lord. i remember before i started playing seeing videos of all these torps. open water mele.
I blew a bunch of coal and steel before really researching this, which now i regret. I'm gonna take on the challenge and grind her out with Coal and RB points. It's a long grind, but I'm up for it. I got the Harugomo line reset 4x at this time since I had 1.5M free xp sitting. At least, I can get to Defence and call it there 😅
Don't miss. XXX@@GeneralHood92
@GeneralHood92 I heard the same about Thunderer, and Benham, and Schlieffen, and Shima, etc. Ppl hate to rag on other ppls botes. Play what you want and concentrate on killing stuff instead of comparing ur dock to others

Buyer's Remorse Maximus = Kitakami
And due to Kuma hull, He citadel tends to happen, ALOT OF TIMES.
what's the new torpedo mod in the thrid game? those unreachable markers and stuff? Can't find it in Aslain's package.
Honestly I'd prefer to play a torp build Jinan, she's free and more confortable to play
This ship is the definition of “ spin to win”.
No thanks… always look forward to the uploads tho… gj PQ
the best thing about this event is that this ship seems to be useless and the special camo for 20 phases looks ugly. Having said that, I think that this ship will be for players who will wait these 6 minutes, fire all their torpedoes at once and die, which doesn't seem very fun to play against
torp boats require 4d degrees of foresight to pay off. Probably best paired with a 20km shima buddy to scout and pressure movement
I want this ship in World of Warships Legends so badly.
Yeah I had it. At that time we could had only 2 boat per side.. troops wave it's insane.
I don't know why really it get remove. And now they sell it back.. what da heck...
Battle impact seems really situational. a bit of a relief.
By the looks of it the name should probably be Kitetakami. She looks more like an area denial ship with defensive strengths.
The torp spread is too wide, too many gaps.
What do you think about WG giving out the Yamato or 900k fxp and 15 days premium for free to people who didnt long in for 30 days while the rest of us got a box and 5 days premium time?
for real, they should give every player the same, past month wss the same, for newer players or comebsck ones they were given them like 7 premium ships
stop crying anout free stuff jfc
Me personally id rather get the premium time and box than a free techline
@@clmwrx I just think we all should have gotten the fxp for having the ship. 900k fxp would help out with a few things
Anyone else remember when 74 knots wasn't even possible for torps? Now it's considered the "slow" option.
Either you die instantly from anything or you wait 5 minutes for a likely huge whiff in torps & become useless... glad it isn't anything like people panicked over.
Im just wondering - how you was gaining speed at 16:40 with broken engine without last stand? Is it because of engine boost?
I feel like it is played like a pan-asian cruiser, but nerfed all along exept maybe the torps. This is amplifies the poor battle impact: People mostly push agressively (what you need) , when the battle is decided anyway.
Potato, the problem with Kitakami is that she was designed to make long-range night attacks on a Battleship line. That's a _very_ particular situation; the result being that she doesn't fit any Meta whatsoever. If WoW had Night Battles (and they should), she would be a devil & a menace. Without them, she's an oddball, and probably not worth owning/playing. (Unless you are a collector of oddballs &/or everything. )
can you try a lauria secondary build?
There's no point in trying. Despite having SAP secondaries, their reload (10.7s) is so bad the hitting dpm is a sorry 27k. Only Vermont, Thunderer, and Conqueror's hitting dpm is lower than that.
I was part of the STs when WG dared to revive again the Kita. I committed so many friendly killings lol! It was junk but a deadly piece of junk for literally everyone
Was my first beta ship. Miss it.
Torps boats are about luck hitting with torps.. his spotting is amazing... its like having an extra DD on the team. Its unique for sure.
Its not hard to hit with torps, torps are ruining the game.
Will I get Kitakami?`
Short answer: no (even if I wanted, I lack the funds)
Long answer: Even if I had the funds, no ship is worth that price.
When it was in the firat test I fought aganst 3 kitakamis. It was not too bad..the ship is t4. So any good shot from any CAs it will be deleted.
I thought WG premium days also can be used to redeem along with RB, Steel and Coal?
yes, but only 16 phases
this is the ultimate area denial ship
People complaining about the cost keep forgetting it was always intended for the players with nothing else to spend on.
I honestly don’t understand why so many resources. I got the Jinan one month ago and I just love that ship. Good guns and torpedoes everywhere. Why should people go for this thing?!
But let's think about it... From a milking playersbase perspective (WG)
Put it in this current situation > Event ends with 1% of players having her > give her a buff to make her OP > let the the players be keen to sell their kidneys to get her for two years >> prepare a popcorn and watch the true milking 😂😊
95 knots? :P
Supercavitation torps in a Japan DD?
and 40 of them huh?
You know a ship was overpower if it go from Tr7? (or was it 8) to Tr10
Personally, I’ll try to get Defense unless it can be obtained later or turns out to not be very good.
Kitakami, I’ll wait for 2 years
I had this ship, too. WG took it away and I want it back, and I'm NOT paying for it, either!!
Somewhere "up there", PT Barnum is smiling at WG, Not a chance of getting this ship
It's a useless gimmick, but as IJN fan I really wanted this one. I was saving resources for a year. As it was unclear, I was saving all of them. And still I don't have enough. And you can't even throw money to get it. Well that's a good thing I guess ..
The Kitakami is like a shark. It constantly loads torpedoes like a shark grows teeth.
I'm tempted to get the special camo as an ultimate flex, but I'd have little ressources left...
What to do...
(though I hear WG Russia is thinking of giving it TRB and smoke)
I think the Kitakami is targeting whales, but only experianced ones who have enough experiance to play the ship and get something out of it.
