    For those having trouble with the Density Texture node in Yeti 4.0, After setting it up like in the video, you have to just drag the line to the MIDDLE (not the dots) of the SCATTER NODE from the TEXTURE NODE, there a pop-up menu appears where you can assign it as a DENSITY attribute. A brand new connection point appears on the SCATTER NODE labeled "Density". No longer do you have to connect the GEO node to the TEXTURE node, it just applies directly to the SCATTER NODE separately. This took me hours to figure out... LOL

      Few other notes for people on yeti 4.0
      -"Populate at mesh points" is now more properly named "Create at Mesh Vertices"
      -In the clumping node, you must set the "clump selection" to "always" to force all the hairs to clump to the single guide. Otherwise, it will only clump a few hairs around the guide and leave the rest unaffected. You can also play with the "clump radius" to get the same effect.
      -Also with the clump node, you'll find the results lacking at first compared to the video as they have definitely changed how some of the parameter's work. I've found the trick is to utilize the new CURVE NODE. Start with setting "attraction bias" to 0 in the CLUMPING NODE. Then add a CURVE NODE and attach it to the center of the CLUMP NODE and set it to control the "Base Attraction" in the pop up menu. Play with the curve and this will give you a lot more control over how the clumping looks and feels.

    Hows the dynamics of Yeti hair? I'm trying to evaluate ncloth and hairs (nhair) simulation, but its quite limited when simulating and caching.

    • @Antepost
      @Antepost  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jon, just stick with Maya tools to sim complex groom (hair, longer fur) done in Yeti. For short fur sim Yeti tools are fine.

    Sorry you lost me at having to add the node in a buried menu for it to show up in the node graph, then along with having to type density as an attribute and then some $%% wallop character to flip the texture because Yeti uses it differently. So why not adjust Yeti to match Maya?? Who is going to remember all this coming back to it a couple of projects later........
