What's mad about this game in comparison to EA WRC is tire choice and preservation actually matters. EA have a solid foundation now that the game doesn't hard crash every so often but the championship modes and career are SO poor in comparison to what KT racing did.
Yes! I have been enjoying all that! Especially the career mode! it feels like a satisfying progression. Its not the best thing in the world, but it's more than worthwhile.
That is an issue, but some are not too bad. For me the bigger issues with the other rally games is the let down of the driving experience and immersion. Left EA one when they instituted that crappy kernel anti cheat. But I never felt the physics were that great....still felt like driving in a very forgiving scripted tunnel.
I have found a couple cars that are less offensive. All the rally 1 cars sound pretty bad imo but the rally 2 cars like the i20 don't sound too bad. There are people working on the audio and I have reached out to them.
@labpong7562 Yes...I always enjoy playing "Sports" wrc but having a good time and being satisfied are two different things for me. It's how forgiving Sports is...you can get away with everything. It's still challenging, but so is tetris...
I tried to make a sound mod for WRCg, but this game is impossible to load cars if the sound files are even slightly modified. Even bank files containing pacenote audios are completely blocked and cannot be extracted using general tools. I can't find a solution. 😇
@LezaKim I think one solution is to just remix what is already in the game. There are many good sounds in the game, and just things are weirdly too loud or too quiet.
These Generations mod videos have been an eye-opener for me. I'm working through DR2.0 at the moment, but I would love to see your side-by-side comparison of driving with and without the physics mod you're enjoying.
@AustenValentine What i can say is, it's subtle, it's hard to put into words but things feel a bit more natural. Not everything has been touched and not everything is fully refined but I can feel that things are on the right path.
In the description there are 2 versions, 1 absolutely brutal where if you hit a pebble, you die...and one that's more forgiving on your suspension, that's the one I recommend using. It's in French, but the game doesn't care. Make sure and keep your old files in case you don't like the altered damage mods.
Does this physics mod fix what put a number of people including myself off the game. The weird auto clutch that wouldn't disengaged unless you got the revs up so high? I remember you couldn't feather the throttle out of a hairpin because it wouldn't release the clutch till you put your foot down so far. They even defended it
This fixes the ability to hold a slide, the throttle bug/clutch fix exists as well though although since I set my game up again recently I haven't noticed the throttle issue. Let me test it now.
@@ekisofh2 No, you can also compete online with the more difficult physics with no issue. The AI difficulty is only set to 100 percent currently in my career mode.
IMO generations is far better than EA Sports Rally. Generations is fun to play and a more finished game. Sports, feels more like a chore to play. Sports also has miles to go when comparing tracks and graphics. But yeah, Sports has better sounds.
If it weren't for the horrible control setup, odd user interface, bad sounds and occasional freak physics wrc generations would be the best rally game ever no question. But with those big flaws, it keeps many potential players away.

which mod do you use? I still find RBR better personally my issue with RBR are the stages. There are a lot, but barely any of them are as good as in EA WRC and WRC generations. WRC generations however for me is unplayable. Turns out sound is a big part of the immersion for me and I actually fail to make certain moves because of the sound cues.
Yes the sound needs A LOT of work, there are people on it and I'm going to do my best to keep pushing for it to get better. It's a huge deal. I'm using a damage mod which accelerates wear so you cant drive recklessly and a physics mod to put the game more in line with rbr.

Yes, i think so. There are other mods that are worthwhile, too, and if there is anything you don't like about the game visually, you can alter it. Like I didn't like how strong the glass reflections were, so I turned that down recently.
You can get this full game for $8 US right now if you know where to look or for free-ninety-nine if you don't care about online play. I recently tried the physics, ffb and damage mods and they're definitely an improvement. Now if you could just edit pacenotes...but I don't see that happening without a complete plugin added.
@rooim1 you need to download the unpacked mod from Avery first and then you can replace the files with the ones I provided. I have a tutorial if you're interested.
I just re-downloaded Generations and tried the modded version and I can say this... It's absolutely incredible and very very intuitive to drive... THIS is what I've been fighting RBR stans on who refuse to admit RBR is very very very dated. In the modded generations I managed to complete 18km in Greece and 21km in Chile with good pace in only a couple of tries (and I don't know the stages at all, so no remembrance of turns at all) while in RBR it would take countless tries to get any feeling of how to drive the car and completing 20km stages on RBR is a pain in the ass cause you never know when the FFB will screw you and you'll lose all traction without any warning at all. I could immediately connect with the car and be able to slide it around corners seamlessly while in RBR I would lose grip due to zero tyre FFB all the time. In this I can tell when I'm messing up and after I make the mistake I know EXACTLY what I did wrong and why I lost time or why I spun or why I overshot the corner or when I start locking the breaks. And mind you, I was never a fan of the original WRC Generations as KT released it AT ALL... but THIS version is hands down the best rally game out there... at least on gravel, haven't tried any tarmac yet. And amazing job with the reworked FFB, all the different kinds of gravel feel very distinct and satisfying to drive on with very very different car behavior on each of them. I am absolutely in love with the way it handles and tomorrow I'm starting a career mode for sure. HUGE congrats on the guy that made the physics and FFB mod (still tweaking the FFB a bit to feel a bit less stiff on gravel but I'll get it right with time)
@sportschool3537 yes i want to make the gravel less stiff as well because right now it feels like there is more wheel resistance on loose surfaces. Hopefully this can be altered as well. I have a little tutorial video coming out tomorrow on how to make the car damage a bit less forgiving as well.
He might be increase fov setting which makes it look like slower driving. Positioning provides much correct result. It can be arrange game files. Current camera mod doesn't give so much scope. I edited it.
@@iceone8879 increasing FOV makes you look like you're going faster. He's on soft tarmac tires in the rain in what I think is a junior WRC car so it's not going to look like a rally1 car in finland
I'm on a super ultrawide, i have the fov at the lowest setting in game because otherwise it feels fast motion to me with my monitor. Unfortunately for this slower car I'm using, to get what feels like realistic fov for me makes it look slow when I capture only the center of the screen for a 16×9 youtube video. I have a 32×9 monitor.

Yes...I complained a lot about gen when it first came out but after each wrc disappointed me with the arcade-like feel, coming back to this game is refreshing.

ill be honest i prefer a cohesive experience where everyone is on the same setup as far as how the game runs i enjoy modding fallout and shit but when it comes to a game like this i wouldnt wanna play a modded experience but i could see how it would be highly customizable and interesting just not my bag
The game's physics are not that great without the physics mod. Also the camera mod is needed as well to get yourself in a decent view angle in cockpit view. But a big plus is that this modding is simple to accomplish for the average gamer. So if you want the best rally driving experience, these simple little mods or tweaks are needed to get a decent driving experience. The dev's probably had many things lined up to work on and fix before this was abandoned for further development.
What's cool about the physics mod imo is that it doesn't lock you out from online competition. I would rather do worse but know I'm having a harder time than do good and be on the original physics personally but I know what you mean, it creates a fragmented feeling, competitively speaking.
Lol...I recorded an entire rally and other such nonsense with no sound...I moved up to rally 2 after this and all the footage is garbage...lol drama!!!

I have some snow footage from the first rally in the rally 3 car but I had a freak accident on the very first stage and hit something and the car did a front flip...lol maybe I'll find it in the recording I have.
I find it funny how KT Racing have the most badass rip of a sound in the intro really making you believe they know sounddesign, to then come in and hearing these vacuum cleaners. It's crazy to me because they obviously know good sound when they hear it or they wouldn't have that intro. And year after year and they never got it right, that was pure lazyness if you ask me.
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing True I just noticed that that particular sound is textbook racing sound like sampled on a track. But the rally sound is definitely not sampled from a real rally.
It's possible, just have to mod it with Vorpx from what I've seen, won't be full implementation, but I've heard some people are happy with the results.
@danimcfly5992 RBR is still king when it comes to car feel but having a more modern experience does make up for this game not feeling as on point with some aspects of the physics.

It really helps that rbr is easier to mod but we just need something newer so we can get even more out of virtual rally. I think beamNG could be that game but there is no serious rally structured interface. Eawrc could be a great base but it's still locked up tight and the developers would fight mods. Wrc generations is somewhat abandoned so it's a perfect candidate if we can fully unlock it. Someone just has to figure it out fully...lol

I tried it again after quite some time of not having played it and I now realized what is off with this game... you have zero feeling of the tyres, you get nothing from them... so RBR is just a placebo game that makes you think it's realistic but it's only on the eye and not on driving... yes, you can feel the weight shifting but if I can't feel the tyres losing grip then how the hell am I going to drive the car properly? In RBR you have grip until you suddenly don't and the car just goes off on ice with all grip being lost in a split second without any indication on your wheel whatsoever cause you can only feel the weight of the car while you slide but not the tyres at all... also RBR's damage model is absolutely dumb... I hit a rock at literally under 20kph and my engine exploded... my real life Opel Corsa which I drive on the road can take that hit without engine issues, let alone an actual rally car... RBR "looks realistic" but doesn't DRIVE realistic because with it's ancient FFB it's just a video game cause you can't feel the tyres and the inputs are learned through trial and error, not feeling... yes it's the hardest rally game by far but it's hard because it's NOT realistic, not because it is... in a real car you can feel the tyres slipping and losing grip in RBR you can't... how am I gonna save a slip or a spin if I can't feel the tyres slipping and losing grip? Sorry but RBR fanbois are delusional... they learned to play this really hard video game and they're deluding themselves that it is "realistic" just to flex to everyone.. but the FFB of RBR is absolutely godawful for 2024... it's amazing for it's time but for this day and age it's horrible and gives you very little to feeling to work with.. Sorry but that is the truth... if I push the pedal to the metal while sliding I will slide and spin but I won't feel the wheels spinning or losing grip... so the visual is realistic but the driving feeling isn't... so the driving is not realistic, period. I will WRC generations another try with the mods cause if it feels good it has a good career mode indeed and a decent multiplayer to keep me playing and I can play it along with EA WRC. Your footage seems encouraging though, so crossing my fingers and re-downloading. Btw, what's the camera mod you're using? Would it be worth getting over the original game's camera?
@sportschool3537 There have been improvements with the FFB in RBR and I have got my game to feel pretty decent with my specific gear but I do agree it could have more information. With full motion it is very good though although the best motion implementation I've ever felt was from ea wrc surpringly enough. You can get wrc 8-gen to work with motion as well with a workaround but it's not great, unfortunately.
@HouseofGausss I think its definitely a beautiful game but it felt less gritty to me. Wrc generations has a gritty look that I feel captures rally a bit more but I agree, dr2.0 was and is a gorgeous game!

Wrc generations is way better than ea wrc ecen without the mods. Recently came back to it and realised how good it is
Yes...I complained a lot about gen when it first came out but after each wrc disappointed me with the arcade-like feel, coming back to this game is refreshing.
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing 100% i also got generations and put it aside after couple hours, got ea wrc recently snd played that, decided to give wrc gen a try again and WHOA AND I MEAN WHOA. Chalk and cheese. I think when gen came out it wasnt very optimised and there wad alot of hate from the community whch influenced our decisions
I think this game can become RBR sucessor in next few years or at least some kind of newer clone
@rafiiqgaming yes, if someone can figure out how to import stages of some kind, it will become the new rally king. Maybe i should try and contact kyloton and see if some tools could be released to improve the game...i don't think they would even answer but it's worth a shot.

@@SleepyPantsSimRacing I play ea wrc and RBR and think they are very enjoyable and fun to play and that WRC generations is horrible and only has 2 redeeming factors which are the career mode and being able to be a co driver

Lol some cars aren't so bad, the sound that annoys me is the hybrid sound on the rally 1 cars.
ill be honest i prefer a cohesive experience where everyone is on the same setup as far as how the game runs i enjoy modding fallout and shit but when it comes to a game like this i wouldnt wanna play a modded experience but i could see how it would be highly customizable and interesting just not my bag
The game's physics are not that great without the physics mod. Also the camera mod is needed as well to get yourself in a decent view angle in cockpit view. But a big plus is that this modding is simple to accomplish for the average gamer. So if you want the best rally driving experience, these simple little mods or tweaks are needed to get a decent driving experience. The dev's probably had many things lined up to work on and fix before this was abandoned for further development.
What's cool about the physics mod imo is that it doesn't lock you out from online competition. I would rather do worse but know I'm having a harder time than do good and be on the original physics personally but I know what you mean, it creates a fragmented feeling, competitively speaking.

Lol...I recorded an entire rally and other such nonsense with no sound...I moved up to rally 2 after this and all the footage is garbage...lol drama!!!

I have some snow footage from the first rally in the rally 3 car but I had a freak accident on the very first stage and hit something and the car did a front flip...lol maybe I'll find it in the recording I have.
I find it funny how KT Racing have the most badass rip of a sound in the intro really making you believe they know sounddesign, to then come in and hearing these vacuum cleaners. It's crazy to me because they obviously know good sound when they hear it or they wouldn't have that intro. And year after year and they never got it right, that was pure lazyness if you ask me.

Also, i always delete the intro so that doesn't play that loud sound and waste my time loading! Lol
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing True I just noticed that that particular sound is textbook racing sound like sampled on a track. But the rally sound is definitely not sampled from a real rally.

It's possible, just have to mod it with Vorpx from what I've seen, won't be full implementation, but I've heard some people are happy with the results.

WRC 7 with Physic Mod was Top Notch, WRC Generations is a great Upgrade and a much better Experience than WRC EA. RBR > WRC Gen > WRC EA. 😅
@danimcfly5992 RBR is still king when it comes to car feel but having a more modern experience does make up for this game not feeling as on point with some aspects of the physics.
Nothing is better than RBR
@happilyaverageracer Idk...this game has a lot of amazing stages...RBR definitely has a long history of awesomeness but I want a modern game to take over at some point, don't you? :)

@@labpong7562 I get where he's coming from RBR is amazing and I'm sure you agree but one of these damn days we need a successor and if we keep dumping our energy into rbr we will never get a better experience. It really helps that rbr is easier to mod but we just need something newer so we can get even more out of virtual rally. I think beamNG could be that game but there is no serious rally structured interface. Eawrc could be a great base but it's still locked up tight and the developers would fight mods. Wrc generations is somewhat abandoned so it's a perfect candidate if we can fully unlock it. Someone just has to figure it out fully...lol
@@SleepyPantsSimRacing RBR is disastrously bad for this day and age... sorry but it's FFB has no tyre feedback... I tried it again after quite some time of not having played it and I now realized what is off with this game... you have zero feeling of the tyres, you get nothing from them... so RBR is just a placebo game that makes you think it's realistic but it's only on the eye and not on driving... yes, you can feel the weight shifting but if I can't feel the tyres losing grip then how the hell am I going to drive the car properly? In RBR you have grip until you suddenly don't and the car just goes off on ice with all grip being lost in a split second without any indication on your wheel whatsoever cause you can only feel the weight of the car while you slide but not the tyres at all... also RBR's damage model is absolutely dumb... I hit a rock at literally under 20kph and my engine exploded... my real life Opel Corsa which I drive on the road can take that hit without engine issues, let alone an actual rally car...
RBR "looks realistic" but doesn't DRIVE realistic because with it's ancient FFB it's just a video game cause you can't feel the tyres and the inputs are learned through trial and error, not feeling... yes it's the hardest rally game by far but it's hard because it's NOT realistic, not because it is... in a real car you can feel the tyres slipping and losing grip in RBR you can't... how am I gonna save a slip or a spin if I can't feel the tyres slipping and losing grip?
Sorry but RBR fanbois are delusional... they learned to play this really hard video game and they're deluding themselves that it is "realistic" just to flex to everyone.. but the FFB of RBR is absolutely godawful for 2024... it's amazing for it's time but for this day and age it's horrible and gives you very little to feeling to work with..
Sorry but that is the truth... if I push the pedal to the metal while sliding I will slide and spin but I won't feel the wheels spinning or losing grip... so the visual is realistic but the driving feeling isn't... so the driving is not realistic, period.
I will WRC generations another try with the mods cause if it feels good it has a good career mode indeed and a decent multiplayer to keep me playing and I can play it along with EA WRC. Your footage seems encouraging though, so crossing my fingers and re-downloading. Btw, what's the camera mod you're using? Would it be worth getting over the original game's camera?
@sportschool3537 There have been improvements with the FFB in RBR and I have got my game to feel pretty decent with my specific gear but I do agree it could have more information. With full motion it is very good though although the best motion implementation I've ever felt was from ea wrc surpringly enough. You can get wrc 8-gen to work with motion as well with a workaround but it's not great, unfortunately.
Best looking rally game is easily DR 2.0
@HouseofGausss I think its definitely a beautiful game but it felt less gritty to me. Wrc generations has a gritty look that I feel captures rally a bit more but I agree, dr2.0 was and is a gorgeous game!

I think cars spotlights are a little bit of weak. You can increase ''intensity'' value from 1 to 2 in that file which makes the night drivings are much better.
