കുളത്തിൽ നടുമ്പോൾ ട്യൂബർ മുള പൊട്ടി വേരുകൾ വന്ന ശേഷം അല്പം മണ്ണ് മാറ്റി കുളത്തിന്റെ ഒരു വശത്തായി നടുക. ഇറങ്ങുന്ന ഭാഗത്തു നിന്ന് മാറ്റി നടുന്നതാണ് നല്ലത്. വേര് മണ്ണിൽ ആഴ്ന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ പിന്നീട് താമര കുളത്തിന്റെ മധ്യ ഭാഗത്തേക്ക് പടർന്നു വളരും. താമര വളർത്തുന്ന കുളത്തിൽ മീനുകളെ കൂടി വളർത്തിയാൽ നന്ന്. നിറയെ പൂക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാവുകയും ചെയ്യും.
