    The advantage of having cables and connectors separately is that if the supplied cables aren't long enough, you can supply your own.
    There's nothing in this video about configuration of the Zappi for the battery to prevent the charger draining the battery. Is that an oversight or is that covered elsewhere?

    Jordan I love where you showed us how to mark a line along a board and Lee said it was as straight as a country road! 😂 A set square or combination square is good for this.

    I’ve installed a lot of sungrow hybrids with dc coupled HV modular batteries.
    Battery comes in 3.2kwh modules. Minimum system size is 9.6kwh all the way up to 25.6kwh. Install is a one man job because the battery modules are so light.
    If a battery module becomes faulty, we can warranty that module while the battery system continues to operate at a slightly lower capacity.
    Commissioning is super easy too. Simplest I’ve ever done. Very good app too.
    Very good price point too and much better than Solax in my opinion.
    I’m in Australia though so not sure if they’re available in the uk.
    9.6kwh model number: SBR097
    5kva hybrid inverter: SH5.ORS

    Great video as always, but have you considered the length of battery interlink cables for the Slave batteries (when they arrive) as these cannot be extended and are designed for side by side or one in front of the other mounting on the Solax system.

  • @johnengland999
    @johnengland999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Check with Solax and make sure you have the latest firmware for the battery and inverter as there a known issue with the battery sticking at 98% also the leads between master to the slave are about 50cm

    As I found out today.. (fixing others mistakes).. the battery leads don't come mc4d at both ends as this allows you to run cables through glands and trunking. I had to remove the mc4s to reroute the cables

    Nice one lads ! ...not only do we need dozens of various tools; but what gets me as a sparkie is the amount of fixings and bits and bobs we have to cater for ! Compared to other trades; customers don't fully realize how much stock of fixings and accessories overall we have to carry and cater for !

  • @mykehoole5787

    Even before you mounted the inverter, I was wondering if the washing machine was going to be an issue. The house owner is not going to be happy when the washer needs to be worked on or repaired. Is the proximity of the washer discharge hose to the third battery a danger?
    Some people like to stack a tumble drier above the washer, this would now not be possible.
    Early in the video, you used the quote, measure twice, cut once, surely this also apples to planning and layout (portrait/landscape, headroom, access, maintainability, future proofing.
    I hope you keep a “lessons learned” spreadsheet so these issues are not repeated because at the end of the day, it is the customer who will have to live with the system you leave them with.

  • @james36515
    @james36515 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent Video. I have just accepted a quote for Solar (Trina Panels) with Solax inverter and battery for my home (not a big house no not a 4Kwh system from EGG. Had heard some mixed things about Solax over SolarEdge (who need optimisers on each panel costing £3000 more) and that its best to keep to one EcoSystems (hence why they quoted with all Solax. Another Company Quoted with Givenergy Inverter and Batteries but not seen much about them, but they wanted more ££ for it. The system I have been quoted for is 2.6kwh over a 4, as my usage estimation is around 2200kwh a year. So 4Kwh is overkill.

    Surprised to see MC4 connectors for high current connections, also the battery conductors look a tad on the small side...what's the rated output of the battery/inverter system ?

    • @Umski
      @Umski 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree those battery wires look suspiciously thin - as you say MC4 are usually high voltage with low-medium current - I was supplied 6AWG for my Solis AC inverter and the Pylontech batteries are supplied with 4AWG which are both roughly around 13-20mm2 and good for around 100A even though the inverter only takes 3kW or 60A max in either direction but it's a 48V battery - I think the Solax uses a higher voltage on the DC side hence allowing for thinner cables more akin to a lower voltage PV string...which kind of makes sense as ideally the DC voltage would be close to the peak to peak of the AC output of around 350-400V as it is for the MPPT side of a string inverter...

    • @AndyM...
      @AndyM... 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Umski Just did a bit more research on the batteries, they look like nominal 100V output, so I guess double the output/half the cable size to a normal 48V system, still not sold on the MC4s and cable sizes, but hopefully they've done all the testing.....

    Great showing of an electrical company as always... highs ,lows, as an electrician .. you show to others .. what we do in the industry..
    But never like the bashing of other electricians on the channel ,which happens quite abit
    When Jordan shows how rough, he marked out a simple line ....and hes supposed to be the boss ,so starts from the top..!!! a straight edge ,tape measure,pencil.. job done !!! You made it look extremely hard ..when its simple
    Then the no protection(dust sheets) for the tiled floor ,and expensive equipment
    Grinding on the tiles .that hurt us all to see !!!. thats 101 even for an apprentice to complete ,before start of job .. didnt see any floor protection for any areas inside .. carpets etcs hot bits of bricks,hot plastics etc ..going on ,i presume nice carpets
    Would like to see a video ,when 2nd battery is installed underneath the first one, just how the washing machine will slide out ,if all batterys,are the same size .... and to see how easy its going to be for them to do the washing .. im sure after the first load ,they will be swearing !!!!
    As youve just shown us , we are all human .. and sometimes preach .. what you dont do yourself ...
    What i see ,is a good company ,good employees,who takes pride in there work ...but you make mistakes ,or slack on things at times ..like any good electrical company in the country ,from what ive seen in quite a few videos now
    Maybe ask your sponsors, to give you floor protection,at the very least ..

    I was wondering where you are going to install the extra battery pack, couldnt install it in front of the existing, as leads are too short to get the 300mm spacing between packs , and cable input and output are opposite sides, only allowing for side by side installs. Was a real dilema for me to figure it out.

    Cable from the AC isolator looks undersized? I'm sure the 5kw inverter comes with 10mm brown ferrules? What size RCBO did you use. Also you've no side plates installed on the Master battery and you're governed by a certain length on the slave battery DC cables connections so I don't think they're going to reach looking at your installation layout. Definitely check the firmware on commissioning as well. Most need updating.

    i hate those "hidden" mounting brackets. yeah it looks nice once its there, but if they just made two (adjustable for level) holes/hangers left and right,
    you mark+make the holes with the hopefully included paper drilling template in the packaging, put the hooks in and be done.
    same for the small ethernet switches (netgear, tplink, dlink...) . if they just put the holes on the sides (or through hole, there is plenty space in the case!)
    it would be a tiny bit larger, but you could just screw them directly onto the board / wall and they are fixed.
    no, you need to drill holes for hidden screws in the back, and fumble around till the screws are in the holes and kinda clamp a bit but not too much, no way to adjust for level.
    and the next nucklehead throws the thing off the wall when pluggin in cables (because its not fixed, just hooked) and doesn't get it back on properly.

      Surprising Jordan didn’t spot it, it’s in the solax manual.
      > There should be a nonpolarized DC breaker to make sure battery can be securely
      disconnected with inverter when required.

      @@gsdevme Breakers are designed to protect the cabling and battery from shorts - if every battery has a breaker you don't need an external one....what you are talking about is an isolator - which may or may not be needed depending if it is recommended by the manufacturer. In this case it may be needed - i've not read the solax manual.

    Next time tell the seller of the system, that you want to place is this side up or down, and if it can be mounted like that.

      Interesting video once again. Re the “ new” unilite gadget, I often wonder how many companies get rich dreaming up “ must have” gadgets, tools, testers etc, bit like the boys and girls of the IET, they don’t want to leave their comfortable office suites while electricians are grafting in attics etc,the IET will continue dreaming up regs just to keep themselves in work ? 😂😂😂

    We need so many tools, knowledge, patience, education, licences, tickets, insurance, common sense, new regs weekly, eye to detail, reading, writing and mathematicians. Risk our lifes, deal with new technolagy, IT skills, how to smile under stress, work shit hours and keep everyone else happy, especially family and friends that think cables are invisabile and any socket or light takes 5 mins.... its easy lol.
    Praise the lord for Electricians, Amen.
    We will / are running the world..... no electricain no phones. No electrician no new electric car.
    No electrician No - Artisian videos. The world ends. SIMPLE.
