    I have walked this route many times in the 60's and 70's. My Grandpa drove from Sabrina Camp to North Lake every morning in the summers, caught his limit ( ten), then returned to camp to clean and smoke or freeze in the Sabrina store freezer. This video brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for posting.

    Thank you for this video! I REALLY appreciate you putting the exact date you filmed it. Even though the timing of peak fall color can vary each year, it is still very helpful to see the extent of the color change on a given date. I wish more content creators would follow your example instead of just saying autumn or September.

      Thank you. I have found that over the years, Oct. 4th is usually the date for peak Fall color at North Lake, though, as you, said, it can vary from year to year.

      Thank you for your comment. The best time to go is the last week in September and the first week in October, after that a cold front can come in any day, with wind and snow, making the leaves fall off of the trees.

    Thanks for sharing nice video. I didn’t watch your video before I went there. I went halfway and returned because Road is narrow and steep.

    Liked the beautiful colors and scenery up by and above the lake but thought your driving was too fast on the dangerous part of the road. Others pulled over for you, but not you for them.

      I was only doing about 20 mph in third gear in my stick shift Jeep to keep up momentum going uphill. I don't know if you have ever driven on a narrow one lane backroad before, but here are the rules of the road: "Going downhill: If you drive down a steep incline on a one-lane backroad and encounter another vehicle going uphill, you must yield the right of way. In other words, vehicles going uphill have the right of way. Pullover if you can and let them pass. If you cannot pull over, you will need to back up until you can find a place to let the driver pass."

    Beautiful video! Is it too difficult for a 24 ft motorhome to get to the campground?

    • @thechevykibs
      @thechevykibs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would be very difficult to get a motorhome up that road, and I don't believe that the Forest Service allows that type of vehicle to camp there.

    Because the road to North Lake is steep and narrow I prefer fishing Lake Sabrina

      I have been up and down it many, many times. Can be a little scary if you are not used to mountain driving. Part of the road at the beginning is paved then it turns to gravel before a short section of pavement is met again just before reaching the lake. Drive slowly and carefully, and be aware of vehicles coming in the opposite direction. A normal car can negotiate the road, a SUV or 4WD is not needed, but they do have better traction on gravel.
