What's really the masterpiece is the idea that this song was designed to be a complete joke. I have never not liked this song. It's almost like they subconsciously wanted a hit song by attempting to destroy it. This almost reminds of Radiohead's Creep.
I don’t think Blur is capable of making a truly bad song. The one time they were trying to make a terrible song, they accidentally made one of the coolest, most legendary songs of the entire grunge era. The talent Damon and the gang have is insane.

I played this so much while I was pregnant when this came out , and my son even when tiny responded to this song and as soon as he could sit up he started getting excited and head banging when he heard it. Even growing up we had to do long journeys to school etc we would be playing it loud in car , windows down for all to hear , and having fun . Now he’s 24 and having a lay in bed and I’m just about to speak to my Alexa and ring his Alexa in his room and he’s gonna hear this loud and clear lol , I even use to put it on to make him wake up happily in the mornings for school when a teenager lol. He’s not needed to wake to this for years but it still gets played in the car etc . I can’t wait to show him the video.thank you for sharing and also as a mum I love things that made my child so happy and song 2 was the very thing. Thank you.🇬🇧💛🤍
I went to see Starship Troopers at the cinema because of this song. The song played on the trailer and I thought I would hear it again. I didn't! However, I got to learn who Blur was and was blown away by them. Great to see them again and this new video take on their song.
