Will never understand how ppl will invite someone to help them out and then start fighting with the person they asked to help.
The parents want Supernanny to fix their kids and make the kids behave, because the parents believe it’s the children that are the issue. But then when the parents find out that THEY themselves are the problem, they get mad because that’s not what they wanted to hear and don’t want to accept blame and accountability.
it because they don't agree with the tech they are giving them. it kind of an control switch if the parent has given up. I don't agree with everything that Jo does but she does try and help people.
Bc they wanna be told they are doing it right and want someone else to tell their kids they are being bad

He’s actually very open to Jo’s discipline technique & against spanking & inflicting pain.
He openly admits that his & his wife’s parenting skills are not working & is willing to listen to Jo about parenting his children.

I really like this Dad. The Mum is weird. She asks for help and then says she's willing to go down fighting. I think she is frightened. At the end , Yay Mum. And Dad good for understanding you cannot nitpick your wife and telling her you were sorry.

Some of these parents think jo is gonna come in and magically “fix”their kids and they’re dead wrong. They only want her there cause they don’t believe they need to change, just that their kids need to change.
I was thinking the same thing. She radiated stubbornness and resentment. Why ask Jo to come in the first place? We never did see if she committed to feeding her boys any healthy food.
Well, to be honest, Caroline - the Phelps mother didn’t change her behaviour after all.
32:00 She punished the child saying we do not hit even though she hits her children if they do something she doesn't like. The cognitive dissonance is showing.
She isn't parenting properly. No wonder her one son acts so stubborn. He is following her stubborn lead. I don't know where she came by it, but she definitely is stubborn. She WANTS TO SPANK THEM, even when Jo's tried and true method works when it's implemented properly. She probably thinks that's her right to take her anger out on her children. She is so frustrated with her husband, their father. IT'S A SUBTLE WAY TO GET BACK AT THEIR FATHER TO TAKE IT OUT, HER EMOTIONS, ON HER/HIS....SONS. She is unwilling to really try something new unless she is coerced. That's like her child. I wonder what her parents did to her to MAKE HER MIND THEM ?

Spanking, time out, loss of privileges:
No matter what the consequences, no discipline should ever be administered while angry.
It’s better to send the child to their room to wait for *you* to pull yourself together and then you can go calmly speak to them and let them know what the consequences will be.
This also gives the child chance to calm down enough to actually hear what you’re saying.
“Maybe I didn’t do it right”
Well yeah. If you’re just having an angry rant, that’s the only lesson being learned. No teaching sticks. No method “works” if it’s applied poorly. If you’re so worked up that you’re not in control of yourself.

I would say in the day as my mom raised me Jo wasn’t around that’s the way they did it but guess what it didn’t help me I was the most rebellious older child ever! It took me halfway through my first born to realize that’s not gonna work! By the time the grandchildren come,,, that’s ridiculous! It’s never gonna work!!!

It always worked best for me to teach my kids to pick up after they’ve played with something before they get out something else rather than to get out everything they possibly can and then sort through it to clean it up. The task becomes overwhelming.

Hard to understand why couples with children trauma ... decide to have more. Very interested in what the parents in these situations childhoods looked like. Really, parenting classes should be part of mandatory education.
