Guitar is pretty awesome guys, ever heard about outside phrasing? he uses pentatonic and triads perfect and there a lots of tritone subs. I'm amazed this is 1960
Many of you will recall Pim Jacobs from his wonderful rehearsal/broadcast video with Wes Montgomery. Don't give guitarist Wim Overgaauw such a hard time - I find a lot to like in his playing, and he did grow up a long way from 52nd Street, or Central Avenue.
I thought I was being kidded, because Pim (Which I never heard of) looked like Lenny Tristano. All excellent musicians. The guitarist was the most impressive. I'm copping this one. Still my favorite one is the Parker group with Wardell Gray etc. I recommend the Cedar Walton version, maybe his best solo. I always liked Bird's complex themes, good for practicing. I Dutch musicians. They must have been the most popular jazz musicians in their country,
the guitarist is definitely not bad. he really is playing some nice stuff especially for the time. I think you're all just butt hurt that it isn't Wes.
If this guitarist is so bad, there are a lot of guys out there making a living with good reputations who ought to stay at home and just practice in their basements.
Wow nice i've never seen a video this good of Wim Overgaauw in action.
Anyone who says this guitarist was bad should put their own video up and link it here. A good guitarist wouldn't say this was bad at all
Wonderful....

Alas, he was a fantastic player. I heard him live long ago, when he outplayed a good tenorist.

Inmiddels alledrie overleden RIP
Wat een raar idee, eigenlijk. Ze waren fantastisch.
They're playing in D-flat. Unusual key for this tune, the question could be: why?
So it does not sound boring, if a band plays all tunes in B flat it will lose dynamic.. ;)
Wim was an awesome guitarist and a very sweet guy as well. Here's some of his excellence: th-cam.com/video/L06og3w_fxY/w-d-xo.html
key of Db concert
Pim had a style similar to the piano style of Nat King Cole. Very swinging.

I hear a lot of Wynton Kelly

the other 2 musicians seem to be a step ahead.
Wim misses some passages, and loose the bit. some phrases are not completed.
