- A fox and cat who breaks into a Rossini-like aria, a whale who apologizes in Italian when he sneezes, and of course a puppet who becomes a real boy. All of this - and more - is the fun and magic seen in this critically acclaimed television special. The review in Variety echoed critics across the country: "One of those gems that will stand up to annual repeats on television. It's hard to imagine a more charming or inspired musical of 'Pinocchio'." Here is the entire score from this magical musical for you to enjoy again and again and again.

The Prince Street Players, devoted to the playing of children's classics in musical fom, were born two years ago in a ramshackle loft on Prince Street which runs through an old indus trial area in lower Greenwich Village. The bril liant collaboration of Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy and a cast of devoted and talented players brought to new life the wonderful char acters of Pinocchio, Cinderella, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, and many others. These shows first played in small towns around New York City and have since spread as far west as Milwaukee. WCBS-TV, recognizing the need for good children's theater and television programming. saw them, liked them and backed them to the delight of the TV critics. Here's what they said about Pinocchio:
VARIETY Wednesday, December 29, 1965 "A spirited, disciplined and highly talented group, the Prince Streeters performed this little show with such respect for the music and book and with such zest as might have befit a performance of Oklahoma'." IWCBS-TV has a right to pop a few buttons over this one, and so do Eiler, Joy and the rest of the Prince Streeters."
DAILY NEWS Tuesday, February 14, 1967 Beating Durante by a nose isn't easy, but the second TV outing for the Prince Street Players' version of 'Pinocchio,' adapted, written and directed by the tal ented Jim Eiler, achieved this once-in-a-lifetime feat."
