- Investigative journalist David Adams presents this programme on which he takes viewers on a dangerous journey, hoping to become the first man to explore the 1,500-mile course of the River Oxus through war-torn areas of Afghanistan and Central Asia. Adams' enthusiasm for the ancient world sets him off on the quest to connect the dots between recent archaeological discoveries and accounts dating as far back as ancient Greece to, ultimately, tell the story of the genesis, life and destruction of the Oxus.

WOW love ❤the history
Loved this so much, David is a fantastic journalist. Can’t help but feel sorry for that poor Nissan Patrol though 😂
Can't find this boring at all 😮
Marvelous documentary!

Marvelous❤️
Are there any more documentaries done by this guy I don't like his narration voice too much but his content is flipping awesome...
Ya there's one on the tenere people a camel herding tribe of northern Africa and another on the quest for shangra la where he goes to the Himalayas in search of an old legend on special river. There may be others but that's the ones Ive seen on youtube
Makes Heracles' penchant for clubs more reasonable.
Within the first couple of minutes this guy says that Alexander set off from Greece to conquor the world. No he didn't. He came from Macedonia. This guy is a photo-journalist. There are sites where you can watch proper historians talking about Alexander the Great.
Nursery school narrative with annoying background music, was looking forward to this, this way of speaking was never good, and you all sadly copied Attenborough.
I've never considered Alexander the Great as being European . . .
@@MarthaOprisko why’s that ?
@@davidscwimer1974 Because grandma told her so
:))) "facts" omg
Wrong , Alexander the Great was macedonian , Not from Greece
@@dilannextdoor7278 it was part of Greece back then
Some would say he’s Roman 😂 now we are all splitting hair’s. Also connecting a lot of dots
I think you might be getting confused. He was not a northern “Macedonian “ of Bulgarian decent. He was a Greek
@@davidscwimer1974 🤣 is world history in other countries as bad as America?
@@brianclemetson8781 yeah Greeks have a big history and a lot of her neighbours feel belittled by this and need to steal history to feel better
I thought Alexander was Macedonian? Wonder how much more is sliding on facts in this documentary. Anyhow, when and if the Greenland ice melts away all that will be sea again.
