I have a very old memory related to this song. It was my childhood, I must be 8-9 years old and I used to live in Lahore, Pakistan at that time, I remember one of my most favorite uncle Faheem , he entered our home on his motorcycle , it was raining, the courtyard was wet and he was singing this song in such a happy mood (perhaps he returned from some date). I didn't listen to this song for a very long time but that memory stayed with me and then few years back I discovered this song. Hai apna dil too aawara.

Dev ji is from my village after partition his family left for India. We still live on the west Bank of the Ravi. He was the classfellow of my grandfatger. Both were in Govt College Lahore. He came in Pakistan with Atal ji and we met him.

If his songs are listened attentively, it would be noticed that there had been no discontinuity in his voice. We had this song on our tap recorder driving down to Swat Valley in Pakistan in 1981. The four friends in the car all in their 60s now still love this song with same zeal.
