@@AlexSamuels Greetings - I've had the RM2 for about a week - I've installed a few Templates and Linkable PDF's and am extremely impressed! I've already been able to utilize the hyperlinked Planner and Notes which is amazing -- planning and basic note taking are very easy! The only "Achilles Heel" I've identified is 1) battery life - I lose about 40-50% per day as I'm using it throughout the day; 2) Pen Tip wears down very quickly - I'm on my 3rd in about a week - are there any alternatives to use? I know Supernote has a ceramic tip ... more feedback to come. Cheers from Texas!
@@jeffhallum 😳 the third tip in a week, so I know that I write on it relatively lightly compared to others, no particular reason, just my natural style, but I think that helps me go through tips slower, but 3 in a week! So my default recommendation for an alternative pen is the LAMY AL-star EMR pen, now you might not need the pen, but you can at least in the UK buy the nibs separately for about £4 for 4. They won't write with the same feel as Remarkbel Nibs (most people go the other way and use Remarkable 2 nibs with the Lamy pen), but I think they will be more hard-wearing and are probably worth a try. I prefer the Lamy pen, but I don't usually use it because it is not magnetic, so I don't always have it to hand as it's not attached to the device. I am surprised by the battery drain, but I am getting the impression by the number of nibs you are going through that you are using it a lot. At least if you are charging it at night, you won't be able to go through a full charge in a day because battery anxiety on this type of device would be a nightmare. Thank you for the update. I am pleased you are in the main impressed with the RM2, and I look forward to a further update, especially regarding getting your nib addiction under control 🙈. P.S. I would be cautious about the supernote nibs; they are very hard hence no wear, and although I haven't tried them, you might damage the screen over time, and if that happened, you might have just been better using remarkable nibs regularly.
I'm so pleased that they reduced the price of connect, I wish it was free/included. But at 2.99 it is less of an issue and a 3 year warranty is above average for tech. Thank you for taking the time to mention it 🙏
Great video Alex, your original review was instrumental in my decision to buy a Remarkable 2 last summer. I've barely touched paper since. I agree the colour option for annotations has been a great improvement for marking up, but a major recent improvement for me was the ability to add pages to imported PDFs, this has transformed note taking in some instances with the option to add more space for annotations and comments!
Thanks for the update, Jamie 👍. I'm very pleased to hear that it's working for you 😀 . Your right adding pages to PDFs is huge 😊. Hopefully, more improvements will come soon 🤞.

I love the reMarkable 2, and it feels like and perform like a super notebook, bit it doesn't has all the bells and whistles of the other digital notebooks, but what it does, it does very well.
Perfect summary 👍, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but neither does a pen and paper. I think I like it more for fewer belles and whistles. I do like the recent addition of colours though I can see that adding value to people 😊.

The screen sharing is supposedly coming soon and it is on that assumption that I actually purchased the Supernote. Let's hope it does come soon.

Great video Alex! Thank you, so very very helpful. I'm so glad you mentioned the subscription point because I am so exhausted of subscriptions. We are not made of money! Lol. I'm going to look at some of the other products you mentioned, they sound really good too and without a subscription. Damn, I was really looking forward to getting the Remarkable but I will not be adding more subscriptions to my life. Reducing if anything! Thanks again, so helpful!
Thank you for the comment Sally and you make a very good point about not being made of money 👍. Good luck with reducing your subscriptions and choosing the right (subscription-free device for you). 😊
Excellent overview. Irrespective, I decided many years ago that, on principle, I would never sign up to a subscription contract. So the moment I heard of the shift in Remarkable's business model I immediately lost interest in their product. The competition you mention is of such a high standard that I doubt I am being in any way disadvantaged. As always, your observations are well worth listening to and I look forward to more content.
Thank you, and I totally can see where you are coming from 👍. Honestly, part of the reason the subscription model is so good (for the company) is people pay for it; even when they don't use it, they will just let money come out of their account for years. I think you are right; in some ways, the competition is better and certainly close enough that practically even though Remarkable is my preference, the competitor products do a similar thing. It's ironic to talk about not using subscription services because my go-to iPad writing app is Notability, which has just changed to a subscription model 😂🙈. Just out of interest, how far does this anti subscription decision go? Does it make things difficult at all 🤔? I think it's fascinating.
For me it is a line that I have drawn, irrespective of benefit to myself. IMHO we should never have accepted the Microsoft position that we only buy a licence to use their products. In other words we never actually own the product that we pay for, it is a very slippery slope from there.
@@AlexSamuels This is a fascinating conversation. I have the same principal as you @UCa-YOE5yJX9HP6Q9ctKqqZQ I have decided not to purchase anything that I need a subscription for. It's a shame they made the subscription model, as someone who doesn't have an income, just some savings, I can't really justify paying $8 a month for something that was previously free...

EP1 uses a Parker style refill that only needs to be swap out one to three times a year depending on the amount writing you do. I like the idea of remarkable but it does not work in everyday life
