9:05 I've also micro air bubbles stuck to the fish, especially if there's an air stone in the tank, or the protein skimmer is leaking bubbles into the system.
Acting fast with Velvet can't be stressed enough. As much as it sucked removing all my aquascape to catch all fish, I was able to save 14 of my 22 fish which still hurts, but if I would have waited, I'm sure things would have been much worse. Great information you are passing along in this series.
Very well explained on the difference between velvet vs ich. Time is not your friend when velvet appears in the tank, but removing your fish is very important & quarantining them asap. I’ve encountered it twice which was no fun. Thanks for the good information
My LFS told us when we got the Royal Gramma that if there was Ich in the tank it would be the first to show it, and she was absolutely right. We had two clowns, a fire fish, a six line wrass, and the gramma. The gramma showed signed of Ich first, and the dots would move location after a day or two. I started to notice the fish were scraping themselves against the coral bed and rocks, scratching off the spots. The wrass started scraping himself against the rocks, and the gramma was also doing this. Note - I moved the fish to QT with copper and the wrass died from copper treatment.
acting fast is a must with velvet, you ever hear about how rabbitfish are "basically bullet proof" "awesomely hardy fish" they totally are! just not with velvet, he made it 36 hours. velvet kills so fast infact id argue if you wait the full 48 hours to redose cupramine for the second half of the dosage it would almost certainly be to late for some if not all of the fish. took less than 72 hours for my tank to be wiped completely from velvet only survivor was a moray eel.
In the event of upgrading to a new tank, I plan to put all the fish in quarantine before they move into the new tank. I know I can leave the tank without fish for a while to make sure there is no more ick by the time I introduce the fish again, but a lot of my fish and corals comes from a pet store that has Chromis in the system, sometimes you can see the red/pink marks on them. So I take it there is Uronema in my tank, although my fish have never shown signs of having it themselves. When you go through al these quarantine processes, but Uronema could still be living in the tank, wont it all then be for nothing? What would be the best way to make sure the new tank is disease free after I add the fish back in again..??
My understanding is that they don’t - just some lumps that don’t harm the fish and will go away on their own after some time with good nutrition and good water conditions
@@Dolphisveruny i got 7 arius seemani and sometimes one of them (not sure if it is always the same) is flashing and rubbing against the bottom. but not aggressiv, more like chilled. like a friendly shoulder bump. it doesn´t happen every day. and i can´t spot any white dots. and the behaviour is now for almost a year. Could it be that they sometimes just scratch themself like we do?
While lymphocystis is harmless, I still don't want it in my tank...I'd have a hard time deciding whether to keep a fish that has it. It's definitely contagious.
If I have a Tomeni Tang with lympho in a QT at 2.5ppm Copper Power and several other fish and no other good place to put the Tomeni, should I worry and try to set up another QT or will it be fine in the copper?
Lymphocystis doesn't currently have a known cure. The best way to sent it into remission is to keep pristine water conditions and feed quality foods enriched with vitamins. Lympho is very rarely fatal, so unless the fish is already in a weak state, its life is not likely at risk.
Thanks a lot for these informations. Unfortunatly there is nothing as good as these in the german community. Now I'm more or less sure to have ich in my tank, what is not good, it killed already a few fish, but better than velvet.

Thank you for the series. Now we need a video what to do with the reef tank after ich or velvet oitbreak in a system.
This is a great guide, thank you.
I know I've already gotten this wrong several times now
whats the name on the fish that they showed in lymphocystis ?
Excellent information as always, such a valuable series.
Good stuff, my LFS has a copperband with Lymph. I’m not crazy about adding a virus to my clean tank though.

Most wrasse can handle chelated copper without issue, but Ionic copper get a little more touch and go.
Elliot is the man!
🙂 cheers 🍺

Nice after 5years finally first 😂❤

Very good video. Velvet is the worst.
Will fish with lympho scrub/flash on the reef or bottom?

Kilian Sp yes, some fish do like to scratch against rock or the substrate, it doesn’t necessarily mean they have anything wrong with them
@@Dolphisveruny thank you. I still keep an eye on them, i couldn't figured out what they have. Always think of the worst case first😅
may i know where is that episode 8, quarantine 80/20 for flukes ????
So usefull and valuable! Thank you in the name of me, fishkeeper ... and the fishes! :D

Hey guys can you help me with operculum erosion and how to treat it ?

I bought a blue hippo tang today for $169 from Petco. Came home, put it in my quarantine tank and viola!!! White spots 😩🤔💭
Did you remove episode 8, quarantine 80/20 for flukes
How long do you leave the reef fish free after a velvet outbreak
There was no video to click on at the end…? 🤔 but great video! Thank you guys! 🙏🏽
Here is the link to the playlist that Ryan points to at the end of the video: th-cam.com/video/y6pG_UrAENg/w-d-xo.html
