Really appreciate how respectful your street photography is. It's nice when the focus is more on the overall scenes, colours, and composition.

I use my Fujifilm XPro 1 with vintage lenses and OVF, it is like old telemetry cameras without any aids for focusing, you only depends in the zone focus system. Saludos

I love the XPro setup for manual focus! The digital rangefinder is very handy. Haven’t gone too far down the vintage lens rabbit hole, only a matter of time haha.

Have a host of Sony glass for my A7RV and now my recent addition the A7Cr. My favorite lens on the Cr? A Voightlander 40mm F1.2. Manual focus built like a brick and the perfect size for the Cr. At 1.2 the image quality is very close to my now sold Summilux 35 1.4, and at about $4,000 cheaper, a bargain. Love your channel!

Voigtlander glass is amazing - will look into the native mount voigtlander glass for focus magnify with electronic contacts. Thanks for the tip!

Hello: Thanks for the reply. I actually have the Voight, 15, 21 and the before mentioned 40. All have the contacts and feature the focus magnification feature.

@@BokehTherapy As much as I enjoy shooting the 40 at 1.2, when I need to shoot quickly my hit count is not what I want it to be. I also have the Sony G 50mm 1.4. I can almost shoot that lens blind and I’d bet my in-focus hit rate, at 1.4 is over 95%

Great little video. I have been playing with more manual focus and trying to have that vantage experience for the past 8 months. And yes I would love to have a Leica I don't think I would love shooting with a Leica. Lol

It is a unique shooting experience, but don’t think my photos are any better using a Leica lol. It’s a lot more fun but not for everyone even if we all had the budget. Thanks for watching, more to come!

Damn this was fun to watch and listen to, since I also went through this rabbit hole 😅
Due to social media I wanted a Leica Q2. Started with the Leica Q, moved to the Leica Q2M and then the Q3. In between I got a very good offer on a M6 and since then hooked on the rangefinder experience. I also had an offer on a 950$ M9 with corroded sensor (made a video about it) and now the M6 and M9 complete my Leica rangefinder experience. Sold the Q3 since I needed something with AF to film my videos and the Zf is just a great camera in retro design.
In a nursery if I’m honest I would still have spent the money on Leica if I had seen your video 3 years ago 😅
Great video and channel man! Subbed! Greetings from Germany 😊

Nice take. I love the humour here and the balanced perspective. The rangefinder patch is usually the only thing that breaks the Leica glamour for me. I wouldn't use it to zone focus in good light, and in bad light it's hard to use due to low contrast and also I'm probably going to want to open up the aperture to razor thin depths. I used to manual focus an 50f1.2L lens on my old Sony a7RII, and suffer entirely. 😂
I currently use the GRIII similarly.
I love 18mm on aps-c for zone focusing.
I'm set to 2.5m @ f4.5 to have up to 5m zone, or f6.3 to have up to infinity zone.
Also, holding up the small LCD at arms length lets me use all the space around the camera as my effective OVF and the LCD as the framelines/EVF patch. With only my hand blocking my line of sight.
I think for this reason I'd prefer an aps-c Leica. If only they made a great 18mm elmarit. I have thought about purchasing the 28 elmarit various times to adapt onto my Canon R8, but I'm not sure about tightening the DoF. I supposed it's all the same equivalency at the end of the day, but I feel like lenses are designed to be at their best at the beginning or in the middle of the aperture range, rarely at f8 or f11.

      @BokehTherapy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I loved my GRIIIX! It broke though and Ricoh’s support in my country was non existent. Still miss that shooting experience. APS-C does have its place, I just wish the brands prioritise low light performance rather than megapixels in their sensor design. Thanks for commenting and watching - happy shooting!

      @-grey 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@BokehTherapy Absolutely. I think we're reaching about as far as high mega pixels can take us alone. I think it's time to focus on great usability and versatility to really amplify the photography experience from the bottom up.
Certain brands are still trying to figure out if the power switch should be on the left or right and if it should be a button or a toggle. That's something we should have figured out long before high mega pixel sensors. 😂

Haha yes it’s hard to make a bad camera these days but they are still out there! Retro designs are in vogue, let’s see where this takes us in the next few years

hey that was fun ... my entry into the rabbit hole was actually voigtlander 50/f1 on z8 -> zf (rediscovered utility and enjoyment of mf) -> q2m -> q2 reporter -> m11p etc. Now choose based on speed of subject and related factors ... leica m by default, nikon z where needed.
As for `peak leica`, tend to think more of localized peaks ... perhaps the 10r would be the peak of the first leica digital era, but I think the 11p represents the beginning of the second era. (heresy alert ...) would absolutely *love* to have the m12 go integrated evf with zf-style focus assist.

I’ve been looking into the M series Leica for the past few months. Never pulled the trigger because a lot of the issues I see posted online. To get my manual fix I recently tried out a Nikon Zf and paired it with a cheap manual lens (AstrHori 50mm f2) it was fun but ended up returning the Nikon because it felt like I was settling. Ended up buying an SL2 silver edition, let’s see how this journey goes 😅
PS - seeing the sneakers boxes confirms you’re a sneakerhead lol

Like the idea of this vid, but in my mind i have given up adapting m glass to other bodies as it just does not work for me. Hate sony interface for manual, nikon was good but still nothing beats m glass on m bodies for me and I will keep it that way for most of my photography.

I'd agree the M10 is peak. But... I can't seem to give up my M240. It's so thicc and beefy. Feels great in the hand and seems indestructible. The color science is great too. I often don't have to edit my photos for color at all.
One day I'll end up on the M10P as a possible forever body, though. That OVF is just too good. I thought my Sony A7C + Voigtlander 40/1.2 was ultimate, but then I actually held an M and tried the rangefinder. Done deal, RIP Sony. Sony cameras are great, though.

Hilarious! I had a pleasant day with a Leica Q2, which I’ll be replicating with a manual focus Voigtlander 18mm Skopar (27 mm FF) on my Fuji X-T30ii with its dials. Lots of things to fiddle & screw up shots with, but only about $1,200.00.
