How has the PCV valve been holding up? I mocked the same build, and I have had a oil consumption issue. I blame the progressive rate coil spring moving against the ball bearing, which is not allowing the bearing to move freely. I just deleted the PCV valve and I am going to see where that gets me.
@Dylan Dorsey - I am still waiting on some parts to arrive. Shipping has been very slow on a few items (I'm sure you can guess why). I will get back at it as soon as I get the parts in. I appreciate everyone's patience and believe me, I want to see the project wrapped up as much as anyone!
Hello sir great video series. I do however have a question. On the pcv valve check valve set up, did you discover any long term issues? If so what corrections did you use?
@Dylan Dorsey - Excellent question. The spring and ball bearing were ones that I had in my stock of parts so I cannot determine where exactly mine came from. McMaster-Carr has a large list of ball bearings and conical coil springs that would work perfectly for this application. Simply take some accurate measurements (and a little guess work) for the diameter of the ball then the major-OD, minor-OD, and length for the conical coil spring. You may/will have to cut and bend the spring to fit your exact part. If you're not sure which size would work best, then I might recommend ordering a few springs of slightly differing sizes; thankfully they're all pretty cheap. Here's a link of various springs: www.mcmaster.com/springs/confined-space-conical-compression-springs/
@@dylandorsey1721 - I agree! I found it a few years ago and wished I'd known about it sooner. It's not a cheap place but it's nice to know that you're always getting a quality product with a known spec. and not something sketchy like Amazon or eBay.
@@Casey_Schmidt could you give me any info on sizing? l don't have the Valve yet but am getting the same one right now. I did the valve cover swap and 3 stage intake swap at the same time. I used a 3/4" One check valve. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DH3MHM6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@Casey_Schmidt I am having an oil consuming issue and I imagine its the PCV valve. Let me know if you believe I could modify the one I already possess. Thanks!
You don't know what you're talking about, the n52 plastic valve covers, and yes even the OEM one, are super prone to cracking and warping all the freaking time

@Dylan Dorsey - Thankfully, I haven’t had any issues with mine.
When will you release part 7?

@@grawmoon I never ended up being happy with my solution. I leave it as an exercise for the viewer to continue/finish what I started.
@Casey_Schmidt what happened for you not to like the solution? Was it the vw pcv or?
Could you let me know where I could get a ball bearing and a spring of that type?

I have the same exact color e86!
It’s a super fun car!
Or possibly get them from you. If you could I will buy a built pcv valve from you.
All because your too cheap to buy/change a valve cover every 100,000 miles....
Incorrect. All because these plastic replacement parts won’t be around forever.
