Since the start of the war thousands of Americans, Europeans and people from 50 other countries have traveled to Ukraine to fight against Russian Forces. I met with one of their infantry squads at their safehouse near the frontline while they were getting ready to rotate into the trenches. They are all that stands between Russian troops and a key city.
My goal in this episode is to find out what life is like for the average foreign infantryman in Ukraine, learn the type of tactics that they find are useful and we’ll follow them to see how they infiltrate and exfiltrate from the zero line.

Is it possible to get paid a livable wage (or at least room and board) and volunteer in a non-combat role in Ukraine? Not necessarily seriously thinking about this for myself, but just curious since if I *did* ever want to go I'm probably not combat-material but would still want to help.
Edit: I ask about a wage since I know myself and many others wouldn't necessarily have the savings to just go and spend months with no earnings
@@ChristoffRevan yes. The military wage is quite livable here.
Regular dude doing the work CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and other should be doing.
This is why they're dying, and Task & Purpose keeps winning.
Veterans > civilians
All the MSM's good for is setting a narrative, telling you what to think.
It must be said though, the downside of the fall of the MSM is that with so many independent reporters, there's bound to be conspiracy theorists spreading their brand of misinformation. Task & Purpose is not one of those people
"regular dude" is an asset just like all those networks
@@eg4355 cry about it
Task and Purpose is first and foremost a medium sized online defense news outlet serving millions of readers per month. Its been operating since 2014 and is currently owned by North Equity LLC. Chris Cappy is just the face of their TH-cam channel, but its really not just him doing all the work. They have a lot of people on payroll
For the purpose of infosec, please don't rely on blur to make faces/text unviewable. Blur can be undone with sufficient compute power. Blackout and then blur if you want to have the blur effect for aesthetic, but you have to blackout (or any other solid color) anything you actually want to have unviewable. Normally I wouldn't comment on this, but in this setting it is extra important to practice effective infosec.
Exactly what I was thinking; this is important!
remember this
any additions please
Thank you - I wondered if that might not be the case. Same for the voice distortion probably...
Assuming the private PC isn't compromised already, that is. Don't mean to be that guy, but it's multi-billion dollar government economies vs. 1 American reporters computer.
The smile on Bucket's face when you handed him that thermal optic... damn, Cappy. Put a tear in my eye. Keep doing the good work. Thanks for everything you do.
Huge respect to Cappy not coming to groundpounders empty handed.
Yeah after they showed those little mini mines I bet those thermals are life savers!
That’s honestly a lot of credit due to Armasight. I hit them up when I was in Ukraine and said “remember that expensive optic you gave me ? ….can I give it away?” And they were like yeah no problem !
@@Taskandpurposehow did you get around ITAR with the thermal optic, your helmet and the plates?

it makes you wonder how intelligent their intelligence agencies are 😂. do they not know sas is top tier fighters? or is there idea of an operator based on their own guys? which is telling of who makes up their fighting force lol.
I think they were just trying to get him to say he was part of the UK military so they could say that the UK were sending troops to Ukraine

You guys are making a catastrophic mistake by letting your identity be known. Whether its insta photos, linkedin, etc. there should be no trace of you ever being there for any reason.
You should be a complete ghost.
When this war ends, for the guys who were in the Ukrainian legion, this is never gonna end. The russians will be hunting you guys for decades, and you will never see them coming. Doesn't even matter which part of the world you're in, doesn't matter how many years have passed, they will find you.

The drones dropping ammo and supplies is some straight up call of duty shit lmao
Better than risking a Tu or IL to AAA fire or SAMs just to deliver a few pallets.
Now, if they had some 3d printers and sintering printers and got stocks of material air dropped by drones; that could be a bit of a game changer. Printing gun parts and ammunition on the fly and augmenting ammunition shipments to ease the pressure on manufacturing and logistics chains.
THAT would be some call of duty type stuff
Nazis
@@tyvernoverlord5363 I think that close to the front line anything big enough to carry a pallet is easy prey. They could drive things in.... but any vehicle is also taking a huge risk, the drones are always watching.
@ I wasn't knocking it, I applaud it.
I love the concept of Vertical Replenishment the navy uses, or sling loads in the army. Drones and Drone helicopters are a natural development, and using them for quick supply drops to reduce the risk to ground vehicles and aircraft is revolutionary.
Heck, in the early 200's the Army had the MULE ugv program "vehicle" that could hold a miniature armory and roll out to the infantry on the frontline, troops take the supplies, and the thing went back to where it was attached to and get refilled and it get sent out again.
I'm honestly surprised that no one has thought to make a 2020's update to the MULE concept for ukraine. Cause it'd free up the drones to add recon or FPV firepower that they so obviously need
was surprised how accessible drones were to carry heavy loads, notably the ones use for agriculture
Thank you for this. It helps me better understand what my son's life was like while serving in GUR. I'm proud of his service there.
Nazis
your sons service is/was HIGHLY appreciated, ESPECIALLY because he was/is obviously an extremely capable, clearly distinguishable soldier and consummate professional that was FIRST "tested" and "proven" in hellacious combat, then was either personally invited to attempt selection or by word of mouth, then successfully completed an extremely physically and mentally demanding Special Operations assessment and selection for a National level priority Special Missions Unit becoming an Elite GUR Operator. Im not sure how much you know about that particular unit of Ukraine's DIU (Defense Intelligence of Ukraine), but the GUR/HUR is 1 of only 5 Ukrainian Military/Police/Government/Defence units etc. to be officially regarded NATO Level 1 certified, premier/Tier 1 units. Capable of operating directly along side units such as Delta Force, 22 SAS, DevGru/ST6 and the SBS etc... Just so u understand not only the caliber of soldier or Elite Operator ur son is/was, but also the commendable and highly regarded caliber of person he Is/was.
@danielcampbell9457 thank you! I thirst for knowledge of where he served and what he did. On his last mission he was wing man to the point man. When the point man's gun jammed, my son took point. He was mortally wounded while he and two Ukrainians provided cover while pulling back. His was the only life lost that day. I'm proud of him and all those serving there!
youre proud of him throwing everything away for a lost cause on the wrong side of history? lol

@@masomenos-ytyeah…. No. Pulitzers are not Oscars and do not function in any way similar to the academy. Still very much respected in the journo community.
It’s true that there’s internal bias to legacy media but it’s nothing like Oscar campaigns, and even if it was, I can think of two dozen indie journos off the top of my head that have have done more important and phenomenal work than him in 2024, and I like Chris.
I really appreciate you getting in there and showing the world what is actually happening. Good work. You've grown so much since i first saw you on YT, and it's incredible. Peace bro,
For those who keep hearing that the British and other European armies have a persistent recruitment crisis, I've been told by someone in a decent position that a 'not insignificant' number of would-be recruits are opting to simply go to Ukraine, get trained and fight there. Instead of facing the prospect of enlisting, training and then spending an entire military career doing f-all back home.
An 18 year old from England was KIA on his first mission earlier this week, but there are MANY more fresh recruits who have joined alongside him and their numbers are growing. This is no longer a war exclusive for combat vets to join, this is war where civilians become hardened combat vets from scratch.
foreigners have no place in this war
The 18 year old I believe your speaking of is James Wilton. He had nothing to do with the army (and was not a would be recruit) and had only just finished college. I’d be wary of any source that claims that young brits are heading straight for the frontlines in place of training without any actual evidence to back it up.
Britain (and all countries) should offer a basic to Ukraine program, basically allow you to terminate your contract to go serve in the foreign legion
Legally I know that's a huge minefield but fuck em Russia says they're mercenaries anyway
@@subjekt5577I don’t think we do much to stop them or punish them on return.
I would be there in a heartbeat at 34, but I really don't know if a civilian like myself would be useful out there beyond being cannon fodder :(
Yo, this is wild! This soldier, Kevin Vinje. He is from the same area as I am, in Norway. More precisely Ulefoss, Telemark, Norway.
I was good friends with his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend. It's safe to say, me and him didn't see eye to eye back then.
It's along time ago though.
I first saw him, and knew he was going to Ukraine on Norwegian news.
More precisely. he was there un the attack on the foreign soldier training camp or barracks, outside Lviv.
So it was in the beginning of when the foreign soldiers first started coming to Ukraine.
Trust me. That he went from, like me, a small town boy, that went to parties in the weekends and in general was around cars and country, like all of us are in small towns, and to what he is now.
I would never have guessed man. I did NOT see that coming.
But man... he changed. It's so freaking cool that he did go to Ukraine, and how he went from messing around to having a.. or should I say THE purpose.
Not just thinking abt doing something, but doing it too! I'm really proud to have someone representing our area, doing this. Not many would.
Like I said, i would never think he would be someone doing it.
I'ts inspiring to say the least.
Kevin - Så jækla rått! (So freaking awesome!)
Thank you so much🙏

Takk til deg for å gjøre en viktig forskjell.
Dolor transit, Gloria aeterna est 💪
We, Ukrainians, are grateful to Kevin and the other men and women from the North. They have undoubtedly taken a great step, one that we respect and for which we are thankful. When we talk about war, especially in Ukraine, it is important to remember that we, Ukrainians, and the peoples of the North, though distant, are still relatives through different lines of history. Today, we are part of a vast world facing enormous challenges.
In our shared history, there are many moments, like those in the songs about Olaf or Prince Oleg, that show how deeply the destinies of our peoples are intertwined. A true war is a struggle of all nations, each of us standing for our land, our culture, and our loved ones. And while everyone has their own motives and decisions, we must all understand that this war is not just about territories but about what defines us as human beings.

The money would not be a draw at that level. It is barely more than you would make at McDonald's. On the Russian side the money is a draw as they are coming from abject poverty in Siberia or as is unfortunately more often India.
Wow ,the sheer courage of these folks makes me realize what we have and what we can lose !

Thank you for being a boot on the front lines to give a much clear insight of this war. Glad you're safe
Wow. Quite an impressive work, Chris. Stay safe and thank you!.
The genuine reaction after receiving the optic showed how useful this stuff is
Interesting fact: people from Russia also went to fight against Russian forces, but they have their own regiment
They’re mostly Chechen islamists you mention, there might be a few anti Putin fighters who come from Russia but it wouldn’t be enough to fill an entire regiment
@@GigaChadlovesandcares No. There're several thousands of Russian citizens fighting on the Ukrainian side in 3 separate regiments.
@@GigaChadlovesandcares And fighters of Chechen origin serve in completely different regiments (Sheikh Mansur Battalion, Dzhokhar Dudayev Peacekeeping Battalion, Separate Special Purpose Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, etc.)
Actually there are three such regiments: Russian Volunteer Corps, Freedom of Russia Legion and Sibir Battalion.
There's even more Ukrainians fighting on the Russian side.
Serious respect. Such important work!
