For a bench anvil, I have been using and old 8# sledgehammer head that I cleaned up. It has no dings or divots at all even after a year.

I LOVE to watch the wire wrap you do, and only hope that I can do it someday ! I've tried with 24 ga. wire for the wrapping one, but have a very difficult time, so I gave up ! Then I watch YOU and get hope and realize that I need the proper wire...also, I was born with Cerebral Palsy ( did ok with it), but was diagonosed with Multiple Sclerosis later in life, so have a time trying to work with wire......mainly I make Rosaries, using eyepins and beads, and love doing them....any advice on wire wrapping? I love all your videos do you have a tutorial on one if u have made one where u have a round cabachon then wire weave a moon shape on one side of the stone. I have seen pendants already made like this but have been unable to find any tutorials on how to make them and you are my favorite out all I have seen on TH-cam you make the most beautiful pieces so if you could make one that would be awesome I'm hoping the more I work on wire wrapping/weaving I can at least do half as good as you do.
Unfortunately I don't have anything like that at this time. I have PDF tutorials on setting round cabs available on my website, but nothing specifically with a moon shape.

I see you do have a dragonfly tutorial on your website, but it is a simpler design than a dragonfly you made where the body is also a weave. Any possibility of this particular design of the dragonfly making it into a tutorial for purchase?

I've only made it 10 minutes in and I've already learned soo dang much. I don't know if anyone has asked this question. but I've been looking everywhere for an answer. Im worried Im not using ANYTHING correctly. I have just a small kit. comes with a hammer, needle nose plyers, reverse tweezers, a long sparp object tthat I can only describe as a bead reamer but its not rough of the needle part. 2 diff, sized needles, and 2 other.. I assume stamp like things. anyways. its by 'Making Memories' if that helps. the small hammer is what I have to use. on whatever surface I can get until I know what to buy (which I do now, thank you) but how long should I be hammering for. its not ever getting flat. its just walmart wire for now. until I can get really good at it. and it just wont flatten. I watched one video where a girl flattened her wire.. just a few small hits and boom, it was done. what am I doing wrong? please help, when you have time. anything would be much appreciated. I forget the size and hardness of the wire. again its walmart crap. they don't have a large selection anymore either. its like they are taking it away. one side of the isle. only 2-4 feet long for space of product that they sell.. they use to have a whole isle.. both sides.. so I wont have much to practice with anymore.. please help! thank oyu

Your videos and jewelry are so inspirational. Thank you for putting up such great tutorials and I love how you actually explain everything you are doing. It is very helpful. For your pieces, I read someone else's comment and they asked if you used dead soft or half hard wire.
Do you ever use half hard wire? Or would it be too stiff to bend and do what you want?
After you use Liver of Sulfur, can the copper still give the green effect that tends to happen with copper jewelry? How do you prevent that from happening? I know you can't really besides with renaissance wax, but will the green effect still happen after you do the LOS?
Also, I know dead-soft wire hardens as you work with it, but how is the piece hard from not hammering it ?
+craftycorner Hi! I don't use half hard for anything except ear wires, and only in an instance when I can't hammer a dead soft wire to work harden it. As for the green.... I imagine, in time and without care, it could turn green, but with regular monthly care it should be fine. I always recommend, once a month, scrubbing lightly (and avoiding stones or beads) with a very fine 0000 steel wool pad (from the hardware store... not the kitchen cleaning kind) and rinsing with some dish soap, then drying really really well.
The band of this ring is quite hard after hammering it, but the face of the ring is also hard because the weave is nice and compressed (I always stress compressing the weaves.... no loose weaves!) and because the weaves are layered on top of one another. Creates a nice sturdy finished product.

this was the most difficult project ive ever done. and I realize that the length of the wire and positioning is really important. I didn't have enough wire left to do the 3rd s so I had to cross it down the middle. and I certainly didn't have enough wire to do the coiled s. oh well, practice makes perfect

Thank you for this tut! it was understandable and easy to follow. I think I will try this! I am having trouble locating liver of sulfur any suggestion? they don't carry it at Micheal's or Hobby Lobby here. Thanks.
+Shirley Zolman I usually do get mine from Michael's or JoAnn's, but if yours don't have any, you can get it online. Just look for Extended Life Liver of Sulfur Gel. Monster Slayer has it, and I've always liked to purchase from them.

Thank you for this tutorial, I am just starting to try wire wrapping and any tips are helpful. How long did it take you to be somewhat proficient in the wrapping? I have mostly done bead weaving but love the intricate look of the wire work and to combine the two would be awesome!

+sandrawani lépine There is nothing permanent you can do. Products like Renaissance Wax will help keep it from antiquing, but it needs to be re-applied every so often. Even most tarnish-resistant wires will eventually have a plating that wears away and the metal beneath will begin to oxidize.

Hey what is the name brand on your round nose pliers? They rolled heavy wire and didnt twist sideways!
They are Swanstrom. I've used them on 10 gauge before. Hard to do it by hand without annealing, but they worked. They probably aren't recommended for use on heavy gauges but I like to live dangerously lol

how do you chain the color of your wire to make it look dark?
It's a Liver of Sulfur solution. I have another video on how to do that.

Nah. I don't like to have more tools lying around than I really need. So I've just learned to be gentle using a regular pair of flat nose pliers.
