I love your “cheater” method. A longer floss could get some beads and some pretty knots and voila you have charms hanging off the buttons. I must say, your golden books are very unique, and I am sure none of us would mind watching you make one. Still, as you said, your passion for old books is what makes me happy 😊
I glue the fabric to the spine too! I use Fabritac. It will still allow you to poke a needle in between the fabric and the cardboard spine. Give it a try.
