An even more amazing detail that was not touched on in this, Blake Ferguson is a type 1 diabetic, yet still is an NFL player. Ask any diabetic (including myself), that is an amazing achievement. Definitely a huge fan of these brothers
This is the position everyone cuts in Madden because they are often listed as some 42 overall TE or 46 overall Center. Underappreciated, until they fail. Ask the 2002 Giants, and I forget the year the Raiders had long snapper problems in a terrible game full of botched punt snaps.
@@dustinb.77 - Yes, almost everyone should be bad at it, except the long snappers, and you should get horrible snaps depending on the rating. I haven't played Madden in years, but madden 12 and 25 created walk on undrafted free agents for your team. The game should give you someone with at least a 70 long snapping rating that they can get better at if your team doesn't already have a player like that on the roster, but if you cut them, then you have to suffer the consequences. The 53 man roster is important. oh well, they can't even get the game to work correctly nowadays.
@@PaulGaither Yeah, I stopped buying madden after 18. I agree, they're just not doing it right. The last good one was 16, when franchise mode was decent. Every player in Madden has a rating to their position, even kicking... why not the LS? 👍
i’m a Chargers fan. and i remember that game we played the Raiders with no long snapper. can’t remember the year either but i definitely remember all those botched snaps
Long Snappers are extremely underrated. As a Bengals fan, our loss against the Steelers this year was due to botched long snapping by our backup TE Mitchell Wilcox who hadn't long snapped since high school.
I'm from the UK and know very little about American football. I heard about long snappers on the freakonomics podcast and that how I came here. This clip made me smile all day. Very wholesome bros
These are the players that I love to watch, they might not be the flashiest or most skilled, but they know there position incredibly well and are humble about it.
I agree. Pretty much every position in football plays a crucial role, but unfortunately most people only care about the cool, flashy positions, like quarterback, receiver, running back, etc. Long snappers are a very under appreciated position and they don’t get enough credit. One bad snap could lead to a missed field goal, or a bad punt, which could potentially cost you the game. Special teams positions deserve more credit
Pro Long Snappers remind me of those Japanese craftsmen that get extremely good at one hyper-specific skill like making one type of noodle. It’s this one action over and over, but it must be done perfectly and it requires serious dedication to the craft to do at the highest level. It puts into perspective that the process of striving for mastery is the important part, not how flashy and widely appreciated the task is.
Noticed from the silos and inside at 1:56 that they were from from Roswell High School, very close to where I grew up, and watched games from there. Amazing program!
Fun random fact: while not brothers but father and son; former NY Giants linebacker turned long snapper Zak DeOssie & his father; former NY Giants linebacker are the only father and son to win super bowls with the same franchise.(not the same era)
The difficult question for all teams. Do you spend money on special team, who only plays a few dozen times a game? If they work well, you won't notice it, but if they mess up you might lose games? The very recent Green Bay special team losing them the game demonstrates special team's vital role. Young coaches seem to be less invested in special team.
I was long snapper for my HS team back in the late 80's when "canning" the snapper was legal. Not a fun position. But I was good enough to get invited to a few local JC's to try out because NOBODY wanted that job... including me.
(Edit Michael Scott would be proud) This was my only claim to Fame in football. I never messed up a single snap. I got benched last game ever for the guy that ended up starting at GT... He botched every snap. Turns out I just made it look easy.
Waking up to the smell of bacon is cool but its no joke , i know one regional manager who once grilled his foot doing that same thing, careful fellas. Otherwise great video.
“Your brother is better than you” LOL this is such a funny little rivalry.
That was Christian Wilkins I think that said that
Absolutely loved that Michael Scott foot burn remake💀
An even more amazing detail that was not touched on in this, Blake Ferguson is a type 1 diabetic, yet still is an NFL player. Ask any diabetic (including myself), that is an amazing achievement. Definitely a huge fan of these brothers
Good for him! ☺️😊👍🏻💪🏻
One of the most underrated positions in Football.
Probably THE most tbh
Coming from a punter
I disagree. Not that long ago it was common for teams to cross train a player to long snap and save a roster spot. Its not too difficult.
@@jacobwalden4801 yea buh a lot of those guys have turn overs and don’t last more then a season
I agree but the Punter is also a big part too if you look at it if you control the field you control the game
@@jacobwalden4801 recently Bill Bellichik used 10 minutes to describe why he values long snappers as separate position players
"your brother is better than you" that has to be christian wilkins hahahahaha

Underappreciated, until they fail. Ask the 2002 Giants, and I forget the year the Raiders had long snapper problems in a terrible game full of botched punt snaps.
Because I watched this, it's got me feeling they should add long snapping as an attribute or skill rating lol

At 5:00 they recreate micheal scott burning his foot. I'm dead 🤣
"I go back to sleep and wake up to the smell of bacon? What's so hard to believe Pam? 😂
He is a little stitous.
The office reference was a nice touch
I'd love to see these two cats at a bowling alley. THAT would be a cool competition.
LOL
Wholesome, grand, content. We love Reid in Buffalo. GO BILLS!

How course they are extremely skilled at what they do.
Give the people what they want: MORE LONG SNAPPER CONTENT!!!
I’m really happy the NFL is finally recognizing the specialists, bout damn time
They can snap the ball in a better spiral than I ever could create throwing it normally
People don't pay attention to the long snap because it's such a routine play. But 1 bad long snap usually cost the team a game.

Gotta love the homage they give to The Office with the part about waking up to the smell of bacon. 😂

Go watch Bill Belichick's history of long snapping in a press conference. Amazing to listen to
I love the Michael Scott references 🤣🤣

I was a long snapper but these two are some odd cats lol but I love it.
NFL Films, I love you.
This is actually a pretty cool video and story .... Special teams is usually overlooked and the long snapping position is probably the most underrated
The Office references in this vid is for the cultured
It's how I got on the field as a freshman, I was a good long snapper, then to guard, on 4th down move to center.
4:36 was outa pocket as hell😭😭💀
i met their parents in buffalo, great people. and tiger fans! GEAUX TIGERS
The best long snapper ever is John Condo, he was awesome!!
Fun random fact: while not brothers but father and son; former NY Giants linebacker turned long snapper Zak DeOssie & his father; former NY Giants linebacker are the only father and son to win super bowls with the same franchise.(not the same era)
Love the "Office" references
If your team has a reliable long snapper, it can go anywhere.
Love these guys... I'm an LSU dude. My brother Don was on the 1986 Final 4 team... guess u know my favorite
I love every aspect of the NFL and its roles!
The best Long Snapper is one that is consistent. The worst is one that misses high, low, or to the side. You never notice the good ones, only the bad.
I'd love to see an NFL Films all about what's said right before the play, stuff like "Your brothers better than you" haha
Really wish I did my school work in HS Could have gone pro for long snapping
Daaaamn, sucks to be Blake 😂 #BillsMafia 💪🦬💪
The office references are unreal
Morgan Cox was probably too long snapper in the league for like a decade. Glad to see some other guys taking up his mantle.
That office reference was beautiful
Love these
The Micheal Scott accident reference 😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Bro did he really do the Michael Scott with the crackling bacon!!!! 😂😂😂😂
I love this wholesome content
4:50 The best part of this video
What incredible athletes, lol
Love The Office references.
Dwight Schrute (Assistant to the Assistant Regional Manager).A.A.R.M......
would approve of this video.
Football if you really cover every skill required to win is a wonderfully weird game
Cool story. You can tell which is the baby brother.😎
4:39 Blake is Type 1 diabetic looking at the transmitter on his stomach
To paraphrase Rich Eisen: Snappers are people too!

I heard the Mannings are actually considered the Fergusons of Quarterbacking
I think they had it wrong. The Mannings are the Fergusons of the quarterback position
now do trevon and stefon
This was hilarious.
special team gunners next

Take a random position in life, and master it. Use your Outback Bowl ring to get some free Onion Blossoms.
micheal scott would be proud of the waking up to the smell of bacon
James Winchester must be the Tom Brady of long snapping then. Highest paid LS in the NFL.
No it’s with Luke Rhoades or Patrick Mannely
I’m a snapper Les gooo

The hardest position in football
Damn. Brady looks younger than these cats.🤔🤔🤔😂
I wouldn’t say he’s supersticious, but he is a littlesticious.
They r doing an office thing🙃
1:40 snoochie boochies ?

Trey junkin anyone?
Steve and Zac DeOssie don't exsist, i guess? 3x Super Bowls between them for one franchise.
Ask Bill Belichick what he thinks about long snappers.
"TAKE 69!! IT'LL BE HILARIOUS!"
Bacon???
Let’s go Buffalo squish the fish
