- Three days ago, the One they had hoped was their Messiah lay dead in the grave- today the tomb is empty… Following Passover, two disciples try making sense of it all as they journey home on the Road to Emmaus. Shot in the fall 2015 and first presented in NorthCreek Church's "The Story" (thestoryinart.com), this short stars James Smith, Teddy Greenprice and Daniel da Silva reprising the role of Christ.

For the purpose of the narrative, with much prayer and study, some dialog was added. The true account can be found in Luke 24:13-33.

Don’t forget that the road of sanctification is a lifelong journey. However, don’t let that lessen your view of the grave nature of your own sin. Seek to put off the things of the flesh, put on Christ and be earnest to serve Him with thanksgiving every day. If you fall, WHEN you fall, fall on His mercy, get up and serve Him all the more. Find a stronger brother in the faith to hold you accountable... Not for chastisement but as a “battle buddy.” Understand this is full-on combat- we are left here after our conversion for one purpose: serve Him who enlisted us. So let us take every opportunity to untangle ourselves from every snare or tripwire that would cause us to stumble or draw fire from the enemy.
I have part of this verse written on a notecard on my desk. I hope it brings you encouragement as well. That last verse especially pierces my heart.

This has been for many yrs one of my favorite accounts on the day The Lord was raised from the dead....my favorite would have to be in the garden when Mary recognized she was talking to Jesus and put her arms around Him and would not let go, To this day i believe Jesus said to her Mary you have to release me so I can go to The Father, but tell my brothers you have seen me. For yrs I have heard people teach it in such a way as though our Lord was sternly telling her not to touch Him. No I believe she recognized Him, threw her arms around Him and would not let go, and He Lovingly said Mary You have to release me so I can Go to My Father and your Father, My God and your God

Jesus is never coming back, just get over it! Every year you Christians make claims of Jesus coming back it never happens.

Luke’s story of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus have a direct correlation with the Apostle Paul’s account of scripture being veiled. In 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 the Apostle Paul says: 3 And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them. In 2 Corinthians 3:13-16, the Apostle Paul explains that when Moses went up the mountain to speak with God and came back down, his face shined like the sun. The light represents truth. Because the light was so bright the Israelites put a veil over the face of Moses until it faded. Paul explains that even as the scriptures are read a veil covers their heart. So, anyone reading the bible can read it countless times and not understand it. Paul then goes onto explain that the only way to lift the veil (to see the light of truth) is if a person is joined to Christ. This is what Jesus explained in His teaching on being the bread of life. This is what we call actual “communion” with God. This corresponds with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus who don’t understand the scriptures and don’t recognize Jesus even though they were His disciples. It was because of the Eucharist that they recognized Him and understood the meaning of the scriptures. It makes literally true what Jesus said: without me you can do nothing.
