Awesome Video! Love your music and your great sense of humor. I'm sure I can learn a lot from your life's experience and good dose of mechanical experience as well.
I appreciate seeing you tackle this job at 62. I am 66 and agree that I can do the same stuff I used to, just need more recovery time. 1st tip: make a map of the serpentine belt before you take it off. #2 tip: With all the different bolt sizes, make a map of the pump bolts as you remove them and #3 tip: I recommend using a VERY thin coat of RTV on BOTH sides of the gasket. After hand tightening, let it set up for about 20 minutes. Great video. Thanks.
The music was fine I loved it .The camera moving all over the place at first was a challenge thanks for making it stationary. I also love to wrench on cars also getting older. 63 2 heart attacks and bypass surgery. We can't just stop that would really kill us. Great video.
It was a great learning experience, I hate these front wheel drive engines, (SIDEWAYS) The tank i knew i had to remove, but i thought i could just move the alternator,, Thank you i am 66 not an easy job, but i saved $375. Thank You
A minor adjustment helped me with watching this very important video. Go to "settings" in the lower right corner next to the closed caption icon. Set the speed to .25, that's 1/4 normal speed and turn the sound completely off. I didn't need Bob talking to me at every step (no offense Bob) just show me. I had to watch it twice, but I can change a water pump now on a 3.0L OHV engine, thanks to Bob. Next week I'm learning brain surgery via TH-cam, but first I gotta buy some scrubs and then convince my wife I can help her condition. Thank you, Mountain Crest Farm.
Brent, maybe a less serious demonstration of your skills (plus picking up a few techniques) would convince your wife to let you save a few bucks with the DIY surgery. Here's a video of a somewhat less complicated surgery for you to learn to do first: th-cam.com/video/E8UPLNhr2B4/w-d-xo.html
Trouble is, Bob she's had her appendices removed, as well as, a cauliflower ear fixed (from her wrestling days), her tubes tied, and her tonsils out. Now her birthday is next month and I'm at a loss what to get the old septuagenarian. I'm gonna surprise her with a lovely card and some chloroform I found at Tractorsupply.com who knows, maybe I can get her up walkin' again !! The people on her paper route have sure missed her.
I feel my blood pressure rising and rage building watching this...I can't even watch this video without busting a knuckle let alone begin disassembly. oooh I hate that i have to work on one of these soon.
I agree with Retro, use the #50,I got in to a world of hurt with using the allen wrench.2 days later ,with grinder, saws all, chisels, sledge hammer,I finally got it off inn 5 pieces.
Thanks for the video, Bob! I'm with you, stick with the #50 Torx bit. Don't try to use and Allen head. Just asking for issues. You could make the tensioner bolt unhappy. When the tensioner bolt isn't happy, nobody's happy. LOL Anyway, working on this project now, just wish I had an air ratchet...... EDIT: Forgot to mention....I LOVE THE BACKGROUND MUSIC!!
Comment accidentally posted before I finished. I would also look at replacing the crankshaft sensor with this stuff out. I think it's going to be a lot easier, I could be wrong about that.
great video now this is a step by step i love how you showed where each bolt goes back in the water pump and how to hook up everything after that thank you
The 2003 Taurus came with two different engines...the 3.0 liter OHV (overhead valve) engine and the 3.0 liter DOHC (dual overhead cam) engine. This video is for the OHV engine.
What music??? All I heard was good information being shared. It it wasn't winter and I had a garage, I would attempt this repair. Looks like I'll have to spend about $500 on a DIY job. Nevertheless, Mountain Crest Farm, thanks for boosting my DIY confidence.
Really Great, well shot video; but turn down the music; It makes it very hard for me to hear your thorough descriptions. I wish you the best with your health challenges, it's not a lot of fun to struggle with things that used to come easier. Still it's hard not to want to enjoy a bit of wrenching. Be well and THANX AGAIN!
Thanks Allen...Yeah, I DID have the music volume WAY too high. In later videos I have the background music stay in the background, instead of front and center like in this one.
I know, David, and I apologize. I was pretty green at shooting and editing video when I did the video. Hopefully, I have...and will continue...to get better at both as time goes by. Thanks for visiting the channel.
Only if there is a problem with it. If the water pump has been so worn its been making the pully wobble to the point it is bent...yes. But not just automatically because you are changing the pump.
@@MountainCrestFarm ok got that tjank you. the issue is the noise is coming from that area the water pump was replaced .the noise has not stopped I'm told the pulley could be the problem
I've already acknowledged below that the music was too loud and needs lowering in the future, but I won't be canceling it completely. It will be kept, just much lower as background music. Incidentally, its not country music...Its Bluegrass, and yes, there is a HUGE difference.
I appreciate the kind words...I don't think it's so much the music I chose...I think it's the volume I had it set for that has been the turn off. Folks seem to think its too loud...and for the most part they are right.
Music is too loud . Can hardly understand what you're saying half the time. I haven't done this job at before, but in my experience, these jobs go easier jacking up side of the motor

As I have replied to earlier comments, I know I had the music too loud, but there is no need to be insulting. The music was not "flat", and I was opening my mouth.
Awesome Video! Love your music and your great sense of humor. I'm sure I can learn a lot from your life's experience and good dose of mechanical experience as well.
Well done at 62 by now you are 65 hope your are healthy and still kicking
I really appreciated you showed the whole thing. I am 63yrs old and now I know what I am getting myself in to. Thanks so much

I did too lol a dremel and a 1/2 inch drive flat head socket did the trick for me when the hammer and chisel failed!
great lighting! the video was perfect and i could see what you were doing.
great video man. thank you for the help!!!!saved me lots of money!
You are welcome Josh.
I loved the music in this.
GOD bless you Bob!! Thanks for taking out the time to show us how to do the job. Awesome 👍
Thanks for sharing... This helped me out a lot.
Thanks for the video, I have to do this soon on my 06. So did it turn out to be the only problem? Pump not spinning freely?
Pump was plain worn out. While it spun rough, it DID spin, but impeller was worn enough it simply wasn't moving enough water.
How many hours does it take to replace a water pump for a 2003 Ford Taurus
1.5-3 hours to replace a waterpump

Do you need a T-45 or a T-50 to do this?
A T-50 if I recall correctly.
Ok the music has to go. Either we dance or we swap out a water pump - not both at the same time.
LOL
It is very hard to hear you over the loud music.

The only thing I have to say is all the moving around of the camera gave my motion sickness a fit
Sorry about that Lisa. I think all the moving detracts from the video as well. I'm cutting way back on the head-mounted camera!
Lisa Adams 👍
30:00 for bolt location
?
Video was good. But I couldn't hear you over the music

Thanks
You are welcome, Juan.
Hard to hear you talk through the music.
Cant hear over the music
cancel the music its not a cmt music video

I think I'm going to throw up! Camera moved so fast I fell out of my chair twice! Good work though.
You forgot to put blue gasket sealer on the other side of the gasket...🤣...the entire job is ruined!
Turn down your background music.
MUSIC IS TOO LOUD!! EITHER TALK LOUDER OR TURN THE MUSIC OFF, ITS DISTRACTING!
Music is too loud. Difficult to understand what he is saying.
Okey..mine has two camshafts and each head and the alternator is back of the engine😀😀😀
Yep...the DOHC engine. Sorry...mine is the OHV so that is what the video is on. Good luck finding a video on the right engine.
Can u turn down the hillbilly fiddle music? Cant stand the sound of it.
What? You're an idiot! that's the best part! this guy helps you out and that's all you got to say? Go watch another video
WHAT UP? I guess you have to be a hillbilly to enjoy this bluegrass music .... shouldn’t be used for car repair sorry 😐... video was informative...
Could be worse.. like country rap or rap or foreign music
@@SOLIDIUS36country is also bad.
