- The NEW Hero Mastery System in Overwatch 2 has a problem... It doesn't always help you truly MASTER the hero in question! Don't get me wrong, this season has brought excellent systems to the game like this one, but there is some work to be done. Today, we will highlight the Problem with HERO MASTERY in Overwatch 2 currently, how to fix it, and where to go from here!

My main issues with it is how SLOW it is to level up each character.
They gotta start tying new skins to hero progression over time! Players are directly rewarded for playing the heroes they enjoy with a skin of that hero. They could do a two tiered system where you first unlock an epic skin after so many levels. Then include a legendary skin really deep into the progression system
or coins
The progression screen might reduce how much tilt carries over between matches, because even if you lose you're still making progress on something.
It would be nice if leveling up a hero also gave battle pass xp (300-500).
That is insultingly low
I do appreciate the hero progression. But I wish there was an actual reward of some sort when you level up
Exactly. Progression towards nothing it feels like
As you level up you get stuff. Have you guys not noticed?
Anyways it’s like the level system in OW 1 but better. Even though you aren’t really working towards anything it’s still fun and pushes players to work towards a higher level
@@RioRock7 bro I’m not talking about the battle pass, I’m talking about account progression
@@Govna2104 yeah I know. You get stuff as you level up a hero
@@RioRock7 is there anyway to view what you can or even have unlocked?
The hero mastery is sooooo slow tho. Once you get above lvl10 it just slows down hard.
Could’ve at least gave us a camo to unlock instead of only having golden guns. The devs are beyond lost
I thought this was only progression and had nothing to do with hero mastery. I thought hero mastery was those challenges or event or such coming sept 5th.
I think before too long teammates will be flaming each other for having the “time played” badge. It will hit people that play PvE the hardest as the PvE only accrues time played progress, not anything else.
who plays that garbage?
love your videos they are always so in depth ive learned more from you then any other creator on youtube
glad to see a good player agree with my thoughts on the nade thing, literally caught my eye game 1
Hey Paz, wondering if the hero mastery attributes are an exact match to how Blizzard determines MMR for casual play (not that they would every come out and say it). It doesn't seem like they're random. Thanks for the video, and the work you put into your channel.
Does someone really go out of their way to complete these "challenges".
this was already in ow1, sure it didnt have all the sub badges but the border around your hero changed and it was cooler looking imo. not to mention free loot boxes every level up
0:40 so we just gonna ignore there's a "enemy grenades applied" _right_ below that? Which makes this whole example fall apart.
It really doesn’t though. 90% of the time you should be using anti nades. On top of this, you need far less enemy nades than healing nades to level it up.
With the way the system works, you need to be leveling up each ability consistently in order to further your mastery.
If you needed far less healing nades to level up, it would be okay, but then people would abuse it. It’s just a bad stat to have on a character where if you make this mistake you are throwing games
Entire thing about that is a bit weird. How many people actually care THAT much about their hero levels? Like.. really?
Friendly Ana nades being LESS VALUABLE than enemy Ana nades already encourages people to play "the correct way", there's no reason to remove the stat for friendly nades. If someone was interested in leveling Ana quickly, they'd focus on enemy nades, because those are more "valuable" and give more xp. So.. I'm not quite sure what you're getting at? Also LOL "If you use Ana nade on your own teammates you're throwing!" That's a really overdramatic statement, isn't it? Friendly and enemy nades both have their place.
And to complain about Mercy blaster kills being a stat? I'm a level 16 Mercy, have 12hrs in comp on her this season, and am level 44 for blaster kills so far (259 blaster kills), in diamond. It's a reasonable stat to add, especially when Mercy doesn't have many. (Mercy has 4 hero specific stats. Most other heros have 5, or 6. Without blaster kills, Mercy would only have 3 "hero specific" stats.)
Is there a max level for it or na?
it's not really meant to push you in any direction. if you learn that you should be using anti nades offensively, the progression system won't stop you
I hit level 88 now I'm level 9 it reset. All my hero's still have their levels but overall has been reset grrrrrr
I've been enjoying this season as much as when ow2 came out, and I deff love the progression system, but you are absolutely right with your point on it, if only blizzard would listen 🙃
I dont think game should tell you how to play characters, as this can change with balance and metas, just leave it as a casual system that gives you base around your playstyle, must stats in ow are actually bad or meh so just leave this as a fun casual thing
The developer dont know how to play ana
Hero progression is impossible i have 98 hours on lucio and only lvl 19
This is the Hero Progression though. Not mastery. Hero mastery comes out in the Mid Season patch.
Does the mastery have an XP cap per hero?
Yes, at level 20. Just hit 21 today on Ana and it caps at a hefty 60k per level up...which is insane lol
If you're looking at hero progression to decide how you want to play, that's not a problem with the hero progression system. No decent to good player will ever do that.
Why incentive a bad playstyle. Do u understand the concept of a casual player?
True but if u just play normal than you’ll just get them
Naw the hero progression is amazing they should have had it long time ago though
100% right. It's best to actually just ignore the whole system and use it at most as just "weird facts" the game is keeping track of.
