    My family and I just spent a month in France this past summer and the Dordogne region was one of our best experiences! The culture, history, art, and food are amazing. We made it are mission to grab food before exploring places such as Sarlat-la-Canéda, Beynec et Cazénac, Vitrac (canoe trip down the Dordogne River), La Roque-Gageac, Les Eyzies village, Chateau de Castelnaud - Castelnaud village, Gouffre de Padirac (caves/under ground river), Domme, Belvès, Saint-Cyprien (food market), Rocamadour. Watching your video makes me wish I was back in that region. Safe travels and best wishes!!

    Hello my friends ! Thanks for the video and your smiles but, if I may, you should make a quick change on your map 🙂 Dordogne is indeed East from Bordeaux, but much, much smaller than what you show ! (Moulins is in the "Allier", Tulle in "Corrèze", Aurillac in "Cantal" and Rocamadour in the Quercy,).
    Apart from that, nice video ! 😉

    The Dordogne is hardly France' best kept secret. It's a well-established tourist destination. Even Rick Steves knows it!

    • @atravelingperspective
      @atravelingperspective  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nouvelle-Aquitaine is not a top 5 region that tourists visit in France, so the average TH-cam viewer almost certainly won't know about it 😁 I also link directly to Rick's video about this region, I'm a big fan!

      @atravelingperspective yes, but it doesn't make it a " secret" . Full of middle age Brits with second homes or permanent residents.

    Chateau de Castelnaud is arguably the best of the Perigord castles, its views are magic. But then the Dordogne region is all magical, and the very gastronomic heartland of France. Duck pizza is a must try if you can find it. Just avoid going in July & August as its no longer sadly a secret and traffic jams and hoards of visitors make it a challenge, particularly for residence of the small towns.
    Foie gras is amazing, and the geese are one of the most humanely treated animals, they are all open ranged raised with a pond to swim. In the wild geese gorge naturally its how they store energy to migrate. On the farms they ring a bell and the birds come running to be feed, it only looks weird to city people who don't know any better and probably think their chicken McNuggets just appear by magic at McDonalds or the supermarket. A number of Dordogne farms give tours, go see for yourselves, then taste some...

      What a great comment, thanks Matthew! It sounds like you've spent a lot of time in the region. I will certainly be back and will have to try duck pizza; that sounds amazing. The cultivation of foie gras is certainly an interesting process to learn more about.
