The stereotypes of black ppl in Korea is a good reason why there should be more than eastern Asians in Korean media. They should be more diverse. Ppl hate on America alot but it’s actually one of the most diverse countries and has the most diverse celebrities. And although a lot of these racist stereotypes do come from white American media now in 2022 we have much more representation for black ppl in the states that’s breaking those stereotypes. That’s why Kpop needs to be more than just Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, and Thai ppl. Ppl like fatou are very important in K-media. And Fatou doesn’t choose to be or probably doesn’t want to be that advocate for black ppl or mixed babies in Korea. But she can unintentionally break stereotypes just by being herself
I’m glad we can all agree in these comments that this definitely wasn’t it…. Like at all. There was no accountability taken, no apologies and a whole lot of dismissiveness. You can tell Fatou was being polite and nice cause if she actually spoke up on this and told them how she felt they’d label her further as “tough”, “aggressive” and so on. The idea to have the segment where they address their stereotypical and I’m gonna say racist comments was a smart one and I thought it’d be very educational but the execution and their response was absolutely terrible. And the editing style and “happy” music as you’re addressing this was also very distasteful and really downplayed the situation. They learned nothing from this and even watching themselves back saying those ignorant comments, they had a smile on their face. I don’t care to hear the comments of “they smiled cause their nervous/embarrassed” cause I can’t image how Fatou felt. No one’s taking her feelings into consideration and she felt more uncomfortable in that room than any of them. Im also done with the “they didn’t mean any harm/they didn’t know any better 🥺” narrative either. Cause at the end of the day the internet exist, they can do research and they probably haven’t encountered many black ppl in their life so I don’t even know why they’d have this perceived notion in the first place. And yes we can say it’s from films but I myself am black and growing up as a kid all I saw were Asian fighting films and yes I had a perceived notion but as soon as I got access to the internet (as a kid turning into teen) I learned for myself. And I found out and educated myself about my ignorance and what stereotypes are. We are in the year 2022 we need to stop excusing this behavior and the “they didn’t know any better” cause its definitely coming from racist talk in the household/from elders, their school and taking what they see from movies and running with it. When I thought we could all have the common sense not to take what we see in movies and think it’s real. Definitely says a lot about the film industry and how they portray black ppl tho, that’s another conversation. I’m fed up and it’s tiring, and if I feel like that just as a fan then I cannot IMAGINE what’s going on with Fatou rn. And how much discrimination and ppl with negative/racist perceived notions that shes encounter by being in this industry. Do better PopKorn.
No I love seeing Fatou in videos like this. They're fun, bring more exposure to Blackswan and she seems so relaxed teaching ppl to unlearn stereotypes about Black ppl. GO, FATOU!!!!
this video genuinely disgusted me, being a black girl myself I relate to how people always expect you to be "hip, cool, rebellious, and disrespectful". Everybody acting like this video is solving all of the racism and stereotyping that is still in the video clearly seen. Fatou gave her intro as they were all sitting down and then immediately began to call her cool and compare her to Jessi, JESSI 🤦🏿♀️ the woman that steal from black culture, black women, and made the infamous line- "diamonds blue like a CRIP" so we can add glorifying gang culture to the list as well. These people will compare a woman saying hello with a smile to Jessi who perpetuates things about black people as it is obvious she wants to be black 🤷🏿♀️ and the thing that angered me the most is how Fatou had an entire interview explaining how you should stereotype black people as cool and hip because we're just like any other person, we aren't clones with the same personality. Yet they did it here.
I 100% agree. Going into this, I was hoping for every stereotype they thought & said in the last video to fully be addressed and discussed in detail, and for them to learn/educate themselves on why everything they mentioned before was so fucked up. However, in the end this video was pretty disappointing. The moment they mentioned jessi I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.. I love fatou though, and I hope as time goes on, as an idol she’ll continue to educate those with such gross mindsets and prove them wrong.💗
I agree with you but honestly I feel like this enough for Fatou and for us black women in general. It’s mentally draining enough that we have to do stuff like this. But I do hope that they gained something and I’m glad that the channel actually took time to use their platform to address this issue rather than delete the original reaction vid and brush it aside.
You all need to chill. No one said this one video would solve racism in korea. Just view this as another gig for her mehn. Like the video and keep it pushing, that's what Fatou would want yall to do instead of these essays.
They did not apologize for the comments they made , invalidated her experiences and still used stereotypes against her , even people in the comments did that . Also never compare her to Jessi , they are different in their own ways . This video was like a 5/10 because I don't really know how to feel about it. P.S.I'm black so I have a right to have an opinion about this just like the people trying to justify the ''Jessi ''comment .
Fatou as always with her bright uplifting happy-vibe personality. Their reaction after meeting her is superb . More of this from Fatou and Blackswan please
God they’re pissing me off..they aren’t even trying to learn they’re just back tracking so they aren’t embarrassed or something and that girl said “Usually members like that are more feminine and cute” and she goes “Thats just how I think” indirectly saying shes not those things and they didn’t even apologize for what they said☹️But thanks for trying to discuss these at least 😔
@@aribloomfield4527 no, it’s a daily experience for many black ppl so they know when they see it. they didn’t apologise, just tried to explain what they were saying instead of seeing how it may make her feel uncomfortable
Idk what this was but it’s not what I expected. They could’ve watched her video calling out their stereotypical comments. I also would’ve liked to see them apologize to her for their small minded views.
She’s pretty that’s a fact but they were staring because she’s Black let’s not get it twisted! Korea isn’t the kindest to foreigners especially if dark skinned
@@bbbbbbbbbb0 exactly!!! They were trying to excuse their ignorance and sounds like they haven't really educated themselves and are making excuses due to the comments they received
I’m so glad they came back with a follow up video so that Fatou could explain her responses, and listen to the questions and help explain some of these stereotypes. Fatou does have a air of confidence about herself and she was very humble and understanding. I’m appreciating the love that they showed her! Thank you Be Unique, Saranghae Black Swan!
The guy on the right was soo weird and was giving bad vibes. I don't think he and the girl were respectful in anyway. Example: compering her to jessi. That's still stereotyping. Not once did they apologise for the things said in the previous video I'm sorry but I did not like this at all
Fatou shouldn't have to constantly validate her right to exist. She shouldn't be this posterboard for "solving" prejudice against black women in the kpop industry. She should be able to just EXIST like almost every single kpop idol. instead of fighting for herself and her right to be there. She is gracefully and patiently enduring these things. She is immensely still strong, special and unique and shouldn't come with a warning label.
I am a black teen teaching myself Korean so I can travel there. I've always been obsessed with language and culture and hope I can study the language in South Korea one day. I've also had the dream to become a black K-pop artist ever since I started listening to k-pop around the age 9. I never thought it would be possible since I'm not Korean nor do I live there. But once I heard about Fatou and other k-pop idols who aren't Korean, I've been making plans to travel to Korea to learn the language, take dance classes, and to practice singing. I believe if you really want something in life you can achieve it, so I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone to achieve something I really want in life. Chase after you dreams every and remember to stay positive!
The most accurate thing they said was when the girl mentioned still being stuck in stereotypes. There is still a long way to go. I'm glad Fatou has the grace and patience to deal with all this and still stay positive.
I'm thankful for this channel for allowing fatou to be part of this content but what I'm getting from this content is these people didn't change their ideologies. They lost me when they compared her to Jessi and we all know why these comparisons are being made. Jessi constantly mocks black women's mannerisms and lingo. I wish they would've dealt deeper with the topic but then again it's not Fatou's responsibility to educate Koreans.
Ughhhhhhh!!! Like literally, Fatouuu for real, and I mean FOR REAAALLLL looks like a literal goddess gracing Earth. The first time I saw her, damn! She looks so sweet and precious and soooooo graceful 😭😭😭 even her speaking voice is precious and exudes with grace and sweetness. I sooooooooo love her ❤️❤️❤️
Wowww... I always get inspired from her confidence❤️ she is really very talented and kind for sure ❤️ I love her so so so much.. omo I wish I can meet her once 🤗
When they compared her to Jessi I really cringed , Jessi a cultural vulture woman who has copied black woman style and even stereotype who is very loud and aggressive and inappropriate to someone like fatou who is very shy and intelligent and is very quiet is so weird for me
You just completely making fun of Jessi’s personality while trying to uplift another woman is disgusting. Jessi and Fatou shouldn’t have been compared bc they aren’t the same at all. But you feeling like you can bash Jessi because of that is nasty
@@bigfoodstyle5531 exactly. It's ok to not like Jessi but to completely degrade and insult her in the same breath as uplifting another woman is just wrong. Fatou and Jessi are way too different to be compared
The girl in the middle looked nervous when Fatou said she watched their reactions bcz she was on some racist bs 😭. Notice how all the videos was of her? They didn't even try to apologize seeing that they've met her and she's not the stereotype they thought she was. Just went and made it worse by comparing her to Jessi 😶
I’m glad they made another video but I wished they were able to get more in-depth with the stereotypes they made. Also how they were in fact being disrespectful. Another thing that was out of pocket was when they compared her to jessi… they haven’t really learned or educated themselves but rather are just trying to make it seem that it wasn’t a big deal.
Thank for listening to us and making them meet her, I feel like this really helped a lot, sometimes all people need is closure to one another to understand another
the guy and girl didnt even apologise and just tried to be polite to her face i mean they were pretty ruthless with their comments about her on the reaction video but face to face with fatou they look scared (they were laughing awkwardly).
I literally was thinking when I watched the other video that it might be great if both parts meet in person and here we are, this is beautiful!! Thanks so much POPKORN for organising this we Luminas really apreciate it,it really means a lot 😊👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
These comments passed the vibe check. Argh there were a group of Korean teens who met Fatou and they were so respectful and friendly towards her. There weren't any stereotypes and they were just exited to see her despite them not even knowing who she was. How can a bunch of teenagers have more sense than adults? Y'all need to revaluate and correct your biases on foreigners especially black women. I have to thank the producers of this channels for trying to start the conversation, you guys tried but there's only so much you can do when certain people don't want to change their ways.
When they asked Fatou who's her favorite K-Pop singer, she immediately said Shinee. They were the reason why she became a K-Pop singer. 7:51 Shinee is the best. Jonghyun would be proud.🙏😇❤
My biggest problem with society is the whole ideology that a literal personality trait is considered exclusive to a particular race, when it NEVET IS. Anybody can a personality of their own that should NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be associated to the color of their skin because that is just RIDICULOUS. My friends will tell you I'm loud af and passionate. It's not because I'm Black but because I'm me. I'm also soft, modest and shy, because people are diverse like that, we're walking contradictions of ourselves and behave in many ways depending on a number of factors (on a first date vs with family vs at work vs at your favourie team's football game vs at an amusement park vs after a few drinks). Confining people to such simplistic terms like "tough" and "swag" diminishes everything else that they are, that they have the potential to become. That's not fair at all. Just had to say that. Let's wake up and accept that everyone is different, not because they're of a different color from us, but because they're different from us as the individuals we are.
Bruh am saying, sometimes it gets tiring tho so u just don't say anything caz they're not gonna change anyways. SMH Thats what I do sometimes plus she has to keep appearances yk? or next thing yk shes called aggressive.

So they got to meet her... Ok.. that's cool, I'm very happy for them 😀and not jealous at all, not even a bit😭😭😭
this video genuinely disgusted me, being a black girl myself I relate to how people always expect you to be "hip, cool, rebellious, and disrespectful".
Yup. Agreed
You all need to chill. No one said this one video would solve racism in korea. Just view this as another gig for her mehn. Like the video and keep it pushing, that's what Fatou would want yall to do instead of these essays.
@@datbiii2676 so your mad that I'm pointing out the blatant stereotyping in this video 🤔 good to knw
11 minutes of korean people gaslighting a black woman about the prejudice and harmful stereotypes they said about her...
Isn't this a bit much...?
@@aribloomfield4527 no, it’s a daily experience for many black ppl so they know when they see it. they didn’t apologise, just tried to explain what they were saying instead of seeing how it may make her feel uncomfortable
@@angel127_ COMPLETELY AGREE
Korea is one if the world's most homogeneous society on earth.im sure their intent isn't to harm.
Its proably also because they never saw a black Person in real like. They isnt alot of diversity in Korea
@@lunaris5054 still rude
That’s why Fatou brushed off their fake compliments 😂
@@bbbbbbbbbb0 exactly!!! They were trying to excuse their ignorance and sounds like they haven't really educated themselves and are making excuses due to the comments they received
@@lunaris5054 yes but I'm sure they have access to the internet and watch movies with Black people
They were trying so hard to be nice to her🧘🏻♀️.
And that girl....she was trying her level best to make her fake compliments sound real!
Fatou has a incredible presence🤩
I’m glad she educated them too during this video
Them comparing her to jessi weirded me out
WHY DID THE GUY BUST OUT INTO JESSI😭😭
I dont like the implications that she is not bubbly or feminine
This was very calm and entertaining and also educative. I really loved their interactions and I had a smile on my face throughout lol
I had the same reactions as Fatou-nim when watching the previous episode. This was conversation that was needed to be had. Thank you.
The guy on the right was soo weird and was giving bad vibes.
I don't think he and the girl were respectful in anyway. Example: compering her to jessi. That's still stereotyping.
Not once did they apologise for the things said in the previous video
I'm sorry but I did not like this at all
eh this video was a bit too bright for something that could’ve been a real learning moment, esp when they compared Jessi to Fatou 😐.
The way they switched all the way the fuck up face up face🤭
Chase after you dreams every and remember to stay positive!
good luck, ❤it won’t be easy
Love her. She is so cool .
She’s so beautiful
When they compared her to Jessi I really cringed , Jessi a cultural vulture woman who has copied black woman style and even stereotype who is very loud and aggressive and inappropriate to someone like fatou who is very shy and intelligent and is very quiet is so weird for me
Yeah, Fatou found that comparison cringe too. And so did I.
I agree but each of them have their amazing great unique personalities and style
@@skiyline idgaf about jessi, if she wants to trash us black women then why can’t we do the same?
The girl in the middle looked nervous when Fatou said she watched their reactions bcz she was on some racist bs 😭. Notice how all the videos was of her? They didn't even try to apologize seeing that they've met her and she's not the stereotype they thought she was. Just went and made it worse by comparing her to Jessi 😶
Hope to see more vid of fatou and the rest of the team❤️
I miss them so much, I hope for a vlog with the members having fun or meeting the new members
I really love fatuo she's so happyl and charming she's so sweet I hope coming up song will be successful
fatou is soo cool....she got a pretty soul indeed🥰
omg fatou is so adorable! i like her personality ~
I want to be here so bad to talk with her 😭
She’s so beautiful her personality not just her appearance she such an amazing woman I love her
4:49 not jessi💀
Fatou is a shawol. omg. i love her even more 😭
Love Fatou and I definitely appreciate their honest conversation with her.
Boo tomato tomato 🍅 for the comparison to Jessi. Just dont have her on this channel if you're going to exploit her for views.
The guy was so animated
I’m glad they made another video but I wished they were able to get more in-depth with the stereotypes they made. Also how they were in fact being disrespectful. Another thing that was out of pocket was when they compared her to jessi… they haven’t really learned or educated themselves but rather are just trying to make it seem that it wasn’t a big deal.
Thank for listening to us and making them meet her, I feel like this really helped a lot, sometimes all people need is closure to one another to understand another
I currently want to become a K-pop idol, I am African American yet I want to try hard and make it work!!
rooting for u💕 do ur best!
We're rooting for you, bestie! 😌❤️
the guy and girl didnt even apologise and just tried to be polite to her face i mean they were pretty ruthless
with their comments about her on the reaction video but face to face with fatou they look scared (they were laughing awkwardly).
..... really.... Jessi? Alrighty
I literally was thinking when I watched the other video that it might be great if both parts meet in person and here we are, this is beautiful!! Thanks so much POPKORN for organising this we Luminas really apreciate it,it really means a lot 😊👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Not them backtracking when she was actually there lol
The guy in the green on the left seemed to be the only genuine one in my opinion towards Fatou 🤷🏼♀️ even danced Shinee for her ❤
okay this is actually so sweet
Love this !! I want to see more of fatou, a fresh air in this industry
WHEN IS IT MY TURN TO MEET FATOU?? 😩😭😭😭😭
i thought they would go more in depth about their prejudices but either way it was still a nice video
Oh I'm also a hard core SHAwol and I'm an African woman. Somebody tell Fatou that we have somethings in common❤️❤️
와아아 대박 진짜!!! 아아 너무너무 좋다~ 귀엽!!! 고마워 ㅠㅠ 여러분 화이팅!!!
I believe this video should of been more directed towards Korean but besides that I love this video! Good job.
This video was Super Cute 🥰. I'm proud of Fatou and proud to be a LUMINA 💓💓
OMG i love her vibe. I'm in love 💘
The comparison to Jessi 😬
Great video. I'm glad to see content like this. Please focus on the positive feedback and keep posting amazing things.
Farouk has the patience for this micro aggressions
Bruh am saying, sometimes it gets tiring tho so u just don't say anything caz they're not gonna change anyways. SMH Thats what I do sometimes plus she has to keep appearances yk? or next thing yk shes called aggressive.
Im so convinced the first guy is a LUMINA💀
Fatou gave her intro as they were all sitting down and then immediately began to call her cool and compare her to Jessi, These people will compare a woman saying hello with a smile to Jessi i can’t believe they didn’t apologise to her for those comments. even just an “i’m sorry i shouldn’t have assumed you were like this and that” instead they were just trying to explain themselves cus she was in the room. comparing her to jessi even though they are not similar in any single way,When they compared her to Jessi I really cringed , Jessi stereotype who is very loud and aggressive and inappropriate to someone like fatou who is very shy and intelligent and is very quiet is so weird for me each of them have their amazing great unique personalities and style😪
Comparing her to Jessie ??.. how to make the situation worse in 2 minutes
She's amazing
Fatou she's so sweet ❤❤❤
Let's be honest, we all would freak out meeting fatou. She's definitely my bias in blackswan.
love their reactions, I'd be shook too meeting kpop idol
fatou lumina love you
aaah what a fun video. Fatou is really just naturally funny
Fatou is super gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍
Fatou just everywhere recently
es hermosa, tiene swag, es divertida, o sea, cómo no enamorarse
I am starting to believe that this channel is the ultimate Fatou stan 😆
