    You should use a compressor instead of a limiter if you're wanting to boost your volume whilst avoiding clipping. Generally for vocals, a compressor should be used unless you explicitly want dynamic range.

    This isn't a bad setup, but I would like to point out that using the Shure X2U signal adapted is technically the cheapest and easiest way to connect a dynamic microphone to a laptop computer (or any kind of a computer for that matter).

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like she pointed out at 2:25, she was having the same issue because she didn't plug the jacks in "snugly" enough. However, if you've checked the connections and they are indeed tight, then it could be a faulty jack port in and of itself. If it is, then you're going to need to get this returned/replaced/repaired if the device it still under warranty. I've gone ahead and looked up the warranty for this specific device, and it turns out that it's covered for one full calendar year providing you have proof of purchase (or three years if you registered the device within 90 days of purchase).
      Again, this is *assuming that the problem is the jack port itself.* It might not be, and it could be another issue such as your headphones dying. What tests have you done to narrow down the issue?

    • @nigeldias5621
      @nigeldias5621 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I Replaced the Audio Interface and the same issue, I checked in on the Amazon website and in the comments section many people are facing this issue and it is there in every Behringer UM2, so nothing can be done about it... I changed my Headphones too but same issue... When I turn on direct Monitoring the right side starts sounding Low...

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Specifically for the Shure SM58? No, phantom power isn't required. But if that's something you're genuinely worried about, then you can always purchase the Shure X2U signal adapter (in lieu of the Behringer UM2) as it does provides phantom power in the event that you would actually need it.

    • @sadfork5060

      it'll work, but you sacrifice the quality that comes with an audio interface. You might miss out on a little signal quality or hardware monitoring (or monitoring at all). It might have weak gain or bad input latency. The most likely issues are poor monitoring or lack of gain.

    • @SergeantExtreme
      @SergeantExtreme 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sadfork5060 Not if you're using the Shure X2U adapter. It not only allows you to control gain and well as direct headphone monitoring, but it also provides phantom power as well!
