I remember leaving newcastle from here to go to london for a job back in 1988, had a pint in the newcastle arms about 10 pm, sadest thing i ever did, i was back home within three weeks! Never again, Newcastle is my home and here i will stay, bugger London!
Lots of memories, standing at Gallowgate. Always a very grim place, but filled with excitement & anticipation at the travel & subsequent adventures that lay ahead. It was the cheapest alternative to the train. Always crowded, but mostly well mannered travellers. Thanks for the memories & the post! 👍
One of Earliest memories May 1992 going to Butlins in Scotland. Got coach from this very station. Bus full all wanting Sunderland to win cup final. Only my dad and I were Liverpool fans. Those were the days when people actually spoke to each other on coaches...I imagine quite different now. The age of TH-cam now gives us on board entertainment without much conversation but then it gives us those times back with videos like these. Funny old world we live in.
Funny you should say that, in the mid 90s I used to regularly get the midnight coach down to London and not one person ever spoke but it was different on the way back, I had a right laugh with strangers and often shared a taxi with them if they were heading in my direction
Cracking video ! Anyone remember the Marlborough bus station too ? Got a bus to London in 1973 to see Jethro Tull at the Empire Pool , Wembley.......only took ten hours lol !
