I am there just left of stage can you see me HA HA.. at this point in musical history, 1994 of couse, there WAS NOT a single solo artist on the entire planet EARTH that could touch this mans writing and energy.. and... ideas,,, he was back FULL TIME and FULL ON, saw his smaller gigs prior to this, but this was it, sundowner and a great f%%$#kin band, respect Ms Charles n all... etc etc,,, you know what I mean, Weller, Weller...
Epic gig. I went to this with a bunch of mates who were indifferent to Weller as it had been style council through the 80's and dance/trip hop had all become common place by 94. It was all massive attack, portishead etc; so he seemed quite "old hat". But I was an old jam fan and was really looking forward to it. I dragged them down to the main stage, and he came on and blew the crowd away, he seemed to have turned from skinny sullen fashionista into rock god. I think Weller himself felt he had something to prove and he pulled everything out the bag that night.
fantastic - ive always liked pauls lead guitar playing and steve craddock is just utterly inspiring with his melodic magic that is just so tasteful and perfectly timed. we need more craddocks and less malmsteens and vais in this world but then again theres only one orange cream in the chocolate box of life. Im not a mod by the way just a guitar player who enjoys great playing and great songs - mind you i was one briefly in 79/80 when quadrophenia came out -who wasnt? the puffs and the stiffs.
I remember this and "Ohio" from that night. He was on fire. I saw him a few months later at Newcastle City Hall,i don't know what he was on then, but it worked.
the wankers in the so called industry, fucked him off saying he was all washed up, is he washed up i dont think so !! this was the comeback and to this day he,s still rocking the mans a genius as this vid shows
Best line up.. it's a diluted band now the new drummer Mr pilgrim is not the man for Paul, also the bass player Damon just not cutting it live as this line up did.

One of the best ever live performances.
Steve White's drumming is colossal.
This is why Weller is king! Steve White is unbelievable. Best performance ever hosers!
this is a truly awesome rendition
Such a marvellous song and video.

Awesome performance & top line up here. Weller is incredible in all aspects, looks the bollocks & moves like a snake!
The drummer is insane. Wow
this was my favorite lineup too
Now that's proper drumming. ;o)
Paul Weller is fucking awsome. Please listen to all his music. Wildwood is just as good. Enjoy!!
I so Luv this man & this tune...
...like a master of some alchemical craft at the height of his powers. And what's encouraging is that he is very much of our times.
The best

He is smoking hot here
Pitty some skipping, but the boss man still reigns through
Nice on theaceface
Lost his edge since Steve White left.
+MusicalElitist1 I used to go and see him live but since Steve White left it does not seem the same. That new drummer has trashed all the old songs.
Yes they were good times. At least its all here on you tube for you to enjoy though.
I want to be her on Bass
+Tracey Martella Yolanda Charles, very good bassist.
