Am really, really enjoying tucking into this piece, but it's quite tough as a 4 month newbie/rookie to sax/EWI. But what a gorgeous piece to (hopefully) be able to play (but I will have to speed it up considerably to sound anything like this! Just got to get the fingers to obey!).
I can actually "cheat" the opening alto phrase to it's original lower octave on my Roland Aerophone AE-10 as the lower octave button enables me to reach the low A (and even Ab). I already have the short opening melody under my fingers thanks to your other splendid tutorial and PDF, and now just need to work on perfecting it - but all good stuff - and extremely addictive and satisfying!
Thanks again for all these wonderful - and free - video tutorials, Jamie - they really are worth their weight in gold for a newbie like me who, first and foremost, just wants to learn to play the great sax tunes/breaks/bridges/solos that he loves as quickly as possible! A massive THUMBS UP!!!

Okay, first and foremost another brilliant lesson Jamie! Now, I understand you not doing this request simply because folks may not be familiar with it and maybe I should transcribe it my damn self. At any rate here goes, i really love the sax solo in Charlie Mingus's "Moanin" just saying. I don't think you should do it necessarily due to its obscurity. But I do think you should have a listen. It shines.

@@GetYourSaxTogether My process was that I slowed the audio down (without altering the pitch) and time segmented each note.
I then played it with rests in between and played it at various tempos up to speed.
I may run it through deezers track isolation algorithm to see if it can split out the sax track then I can run it through melodyne to show you the exact pitches if you want.
There is a bunch of gliss and slurring so a few notes are slightly flat but those are the notes I felt were being played.
Again I would love to be corrected on that because I want to get it right. The piano example wasn't played in great rhythm btw I was just trying to demonstrate the notes.
