I've met quite a lot of famous people (e.g. met Linkin Park thrice and Of Monsters and Men twice), so I've learned to talk to them as a fan without freaking them out. Commenting on specific things you like about their work, saying you love something specific they do, etc., gets a much better reception than just telling them you love them. Also, the less nervous you seem, the less nervous you make them.

I'm so happy he lied though. If we knew that he was definitely coming back (we knew obviously, but It wasn't confirmed), it wouldn't have been as exciting. I also love how they didn't do it in the first episode, because that put the slightest bit of doubt in my mind, which made Jon's return so much better.

It's not that strange. If you know them well, like he does. We generally shorten names.
My daughter's friend is called Sophie, and we call her Soph, Danielle is Dani and Jasmine is Jaz etc. Did it with all my school friends in the 80's, with the exception of extremely short names, like Lee or Ian.
I'm happy to know he has nicknames for both Maisie and Sophie and that they all seem so close, especially Maisie and Kit.
