I found another common tool that works great for crafting, especially trimming away glue gun glue. It’s a cuticle trimmer! It works very well , even on fabric with glue stuck to it!😃😃

Something I use all the time is a pair of chopsticks. I like the Japanese kind with shaper points. Use them for turning fabric corners, holding down pieces that I've hot-glued down so I don't burn my fingers, so much more.

The sculpting tool, honorable mention #2, is actually a tool used on greenware before fired in a kiln. I have one from years ago when I was making ceramic items. The curved part was used to get in the nooks and crannies to shave away the raised mold seams. A versatile tool indeed!

Any kind of clamps and finger cots - come in handy for regular gluing. A set of micro-mini screwdrivers. Floral wire ✂️ scissors for cutting wired ribbon. Mixed media scissors for heavy duty materials. And a good set of pinking shears.

  • @PNWCagey-Dub

I’d have to add a mini screwdriver set and cotton buds with one pointy end. You’re right! This list could be endless. Lol.

Regarding Honorable mention #2, the second tool (the scraper) can be found on its own. In leatherworking, it's used as an edge beveler before burnishing. There are a ton of them, with different width depending on the thickness of the leather edge you want to bevel.

For my birthday in July, my husband built me an entire craft room with ceiling to floor wall to wall cabinets with a fold out center table which I have used to wrap all of my Christmas presents.
The one thing that I use a lot for painting, gluing etc. are the clear 2 pack of plastic cutting boards from DT. They are easier than my larger mat to clean. Everything just washes off and are totally reusable. I also keep one on my desk to protect the wood.

    • @CreativeontheCheap

@@CreativeontheCheap finally after so many years everything is in one place and totally organized. I bought 50 plastic containers, labeled everything and made crafting a whole lot more fun. One thing I realized is that I have way too much stuff!! He also made me 2 7' poles with 10 mesh wire baskets from DT attached to each one to hold all of my greenery and florals. Coordinated by colors it makes making floral arrangements more fun than trying to find what I was looking for. They are so large we had to leave them in a separate place. It's all been an amazing improvement. 😊 For my ribbons (200+ rolls) we bought an armoire from goodwill redesigned the inside so the shelves would pull out and that's been a major improvement as well. Now I can find everything. Yay!

Great list. The "bird scissors " are properly called stork scissors. Not that that is terribly important but it could help someone whi didn't know what you meant. I would have to add a stainless steel ruler. But your list is great.

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 ปีที่แล้ว

Ooooo … You ABSOLUTELY got THAT right!! But rather than its use AS a ruler, or a sharp edge, I cherish my rulers for the info they provide. I’ve absconded with TWO marvelous metal rulers that my engineer fellow has had over the years: 1) has a conversion chart on the back for decimals to fractions; 2) another has inches plus TENTHS (comes in handy to determine the size of DIES or other “foreign” offerings that size their listings in that manner!) on one side and inches and thirty-seconds on the other; My third highly prized ruler is a well made wooden ruler I found at a Music Museum in the Phoenix, AZ area. That wonderful jewel had both inches and millimeters noted on it, but the best part is they B O T H count from the left end !!! So when I research a crafty find that specifies the dimensions in millimeters or centimeters, the “translation” is easy to discern.

Thanks for sharing your list! I got the miter shears earlier this year and initially thought they were broken because I was trying to cut a single popsicle stick at a time and they wouldn't cut. Then I watched one of your videos where you cut a jenga block. I tried it and they worked perfectly! I realized they are designed for something a bit thicker than one stick! A tool I use a lot because I do a lot of detail painting is a lighted magnifier.

I bought a set of nail art tools years ago that I find useful for so many projects. They are hand tools that have steel balls in varying sizes that. Nail artists use to paint designs on fingernails. Perfect for dot painting but also great for dipping into glue to set just the right amount on a project. I also use them when doing clay crafts. They are super cheap; I bought mine on eBay years ago and the entire set cost less than $1. I have noticed lately that the prices have gone way up as crafters have caught on to their usefulness.

I got a set of 3 Stork scissors for a good deal on Amazon. I use them for fussy cutting. The curve in the neck is where you put your index finger when cutting...so you turn them upside down when you are cutting. They are not called "bird scissors". They are from the Middle Ages when midwives used a version of this to cut the umbilical cord hence the name "stork".

I used to have a pair, hmmm wonder where they went. I could never figure out what to use them with.
It's backwards in the brain to do it opposite!!! Guess I need to YT videos on what to do with them!!

I have & use the majority of these. I’ve had my dremel & Fiskars paper cutter for years. I’ve only recently had to change the blade.
There are 3 items I don’t have which will be going on my wish list. The desktop outlet strip (I am tired of crawling under the table), the curved (cheat) scissors and a Cricuit Joy. I actually use Silhouette, but that itty bitty machine looks sooo much easier for smaller projects.
Merry Christmas to you and your family🎄
