My parents are in one of the evacuation zones and they won't evacuate. I've spoken with them about this but they refused to do so. I really worry about them and hope they will be OK.
Just what I thought. The worst part is they are going to take police away from more important jobs to have to go down there to give them an order to leave. They couldn't just use common sense or leave when the beach patrol told them.

Soooo glad we got out Monday afternoon! It took us 23 hours to drive up to Atlanta because the traffic was stop & go for 90% of the drive! Gas stations were out of gas by 7pm so they would just close up. Fast food service restaurants were out of supplies so they closed early too. No gas, no food! Luckily we had brought our own food and extra gas. We finally found a Chevron gas station in the middle of Georgia that had gas. I wish everyone the best of luck with this bad boy Milton. The rain wasn't bad, and the streets weren't flooded, but those winds!!! The winds blew sand everywhere, visibility was like zero, so I went back to my rented condo.

My family was smacked by Helene. When it was over, the horse enclosure had been destroyed, but the horse showed up in the front yard the following day after the storm passed. One of the barn cats was killed though. 😢

Tornados have been the biggest stressers this afternoon. Over 50 alerts. Milton is a high end Cat 3. The winds and surf is coming in on the west coast and the tornados are being checked out on the eastern side on the Atlantic.

I’m in an evacuation center now in north port , at a middle school , it’s rainy and windy , hurricane has not landed yet , one good thing about this area is that it is slightly higher elevation than where I live, nearby, so hopefully no life threatening flooding.

Tornados have been the biggest stressers this afternoon. Over 50 alerts. Milton is a high end Cat 3. The winds and surf is coming in on the west coast and the tornados are being checked out on the eastern side on the Atlantic.
What about the news crews? Are they exempt from danger because they are on tv?

I’m in an evacuation center now in north port , at a middle school , it’s rainy and windy , hurricane has not landed yet , one good thing about this area is that it is slightly higher elevation than where I live, nearby, so hopefully no life threatening flooding.
This is when the government should invest millions on having a plan to help people on this situations. Not on stupid things they’re use to
