if youre using the Screen brush if you use the Arrow icon where it says "Primitive Groups" you can edit any guide you select. problem is you have to keep clicking on that arrow if you want to keep edting one guide at a time. good thing is, it doesnt reset the other guides you already groomed.
you have to use radial menu with shortkey: go to Edit-radial menus, select Brushes and edit shortkey for it. It's much more convenient than using prim group selection

How to select single hair
For me holding S and clicking a guide hair works well. Shift + S to select multiple.
