On our way up the gruelingly steep Mt Elizabeth trail Laura and I managed to step directly onto a nest of angry wasps. However, the overgrown logging road, intense elevation gain and stinging pain on our bodies was all worth it when we reached the summit!
The Mount Elizabeth summit is a spectacle. It’s the best view in town towering over the Kitimat range at 1885m.
    Thanks for watching!

Used to live in Kitimat. Last time I hiked that trail was about 1996. The wasp nest was there then as well! Crazy that it's still there.

@@riseandalpine swear to god dude....there was a plastic grocery bag hung on the tree to mark the spot. The nest was in the tree roots, and if you stepped in the wrong place, your leg would go through and all hell would break loose.

Climbed it in 1970, no roads, no trail. 3 day/2 night round trip from the south. Good memories!!

Unreal! The steep dense forest must have been quite the adventure! What was the most challenging part?

@@riseandalpine huge devil's club all along Hirsch Creek, both sides. Once we crossed the creek and gained elevation I don't remember anymore overly challenging sections. 😁

Doesn’t seem dangerous at all. People in town are scared of this hike.

It's very doable and isn't overly technical. Hiking in fog or bad weather would spell trouble (but thats the same for any trail)
