    Thats one of the best catfishing place out there. That almost the same way we did it. We use a bottom bouncer you use for Walleyes. I got video killing catfish out there. Great video.

      Thanks addictiontothewild You're right, there's many variations you can use in sinkers etc, I could talk about this rig for an hour and probably not cover it all. Thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can find the video! Tight Lines!

    I rigged up my big pole today. Its got 30 lbs mono. I used the 30 lb for the leader. Had the cork on there. Something bent my rod over. Fight was on. But not very long. My 30 lb leader snapped right on the cork. I was devastated. Knew I should have put 50 on it.

    I want to give this a try because all my buddy and I do is bank fish.We are both disabled.I have a box full of small(maybe 1/2"-5/8"),round plastic bobbers I've never used.I'm guessing/hoping they would work well too for this rig?Any thoughts?Thank You for all the great tips!We are only occasional fisherman(6-8x/year),but some of the tips have really helped!

      Bow Tie Thanks. Foam bobbers usually work best but give them a try, you never know,

      ***** Went through the tacklebox last night.Found a plastic bobber that rattles.Saw it was supposed to be good to try on this setup too.Will post back if I have any luck.S'posed to be rainy rest of week so yard will be too muddy to do any work.Might as well go fishin' ;-)

    Great information. One question about the peg float...do you use a bobber stop between the float and the hook to maintain at least a few inches of distance between the two?

    • @Catfishedge
      @Catfishedge  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No the pegs in the float hold it in place

      Ok, thanks. In the video it kinda looked like it was put on like a slip float. Picked up a few this afternoon along with some of the newer Trokar circle hooks. Going to try it out this weekend out on Old Hickory Lake in Tennessee.

      ***** Well, it was an interesting weekend to say the least. The Santee Cooper rig worked like a charm. It ain't just for catfish though. I actually caught more hybrid bass than anything else. But the strangest for me was pulling up a nice sized white crappie who apparently was in the mood for a little shad.

    When using the santee rig does bobber location make a difference? I’m guessing it does as I notice you use different lengths of line depending on distance from the bottom the fish are found. With this in mind why could a person not use a four foot santee rig and place the bobber in different locations rather than putting together a shorter rig? This part is puzzling me.
    Just thinking with the current on the Missouri river or drift fishing a local lake it would apear the the current or tuging process the bobber would locate the bait at a different level based on the location of the bobber. So if I had a two foot leader and placed the bobber at the one foot level with current or drifting lets say the bait would stay about a foot off the bottom, (just guessing) would not a four foot leader react the same way with the bobber placed at the one foot mark? with the bait just tailing further back? I’ve wondered this for a long time but have not been able to find an answer or I’m reading over it or not comprehending it might be the problem as well. Just like someone to give me a mental picture I can relate to. Thanks for a response. Gale

      +Gale Urquhart If you move the float back significantly to compensate the bait will move erratically

    where can i bait mullet?????

  • @caljerm
    @caljerm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    with the float, does that affect how you would hook live bait? Like for instance, if I normally hook it under the dorsal fin, would the float make the bait lie on it's side? Would hooking through the lips be better with the float? Or - am I over thinking it? :)

      You're overthinking it.

  • @douglashale853

    is there a point at which you get the peg float to close to the hook that the fish don't bite or do they not pay attention to the float

    • @Catfishedge
      @Catfishedge  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Douglas Hale it needs to be a few inches back from the hook
