Stalin Mk-1 was a great tank. As was the KV-85 before it. Red Army was attempting to rectify the massive mistake of the KV-1S and general wiping of the heavy tank doctrine. The 85mm gun was a good marriage for the KV's and Stalins. If only they'd waited for the availability of the 100mm gun, to install on KV/Stalin. The 122mm has it's merits, but is too limiting for the size and weight of the KV/Stalin. Put the 122mm, like the 152mm into the heavy assault guns. 100mm for the tank fighter... but they were thinking differently. So what if the T-34/85 had a similar gun. It doesn't have the armour of a Stalin. Anyway.... strange times. The Russians were based in doctrine, on having Mech Corps etc, that had all types of tanks working and advancing together as a division. The Russians got it worked out by 1944. The last 5 minutes or so of this video appears to be more KV-85 than IS-1?
yes yes.. such a great vehicle! nothing screams flawless like having most of the kv-85s lost by mid '44 and most is-1s being converted to 2s because they were subpar in every way to it..
The armor on the IS-1 and IS-2 is so bad you're literally better off driving it in reverse. They're both a one shots to the lower front plate, which you have to expose due to the lack of gun depression, and any angling normalizes the weak sides. The turret front is only 100m too. The T-34-85 DST is more surviable.
it's not bad the turret cheek is trolly af and the UFP is immune to 88mm rounds you most likely don't remember the times you bounced shells, but definitely remember the times you got penned.
@@NOOBSLAYER-cw3gd Only unexperienced players shoot the turret and they're likely to get volumetic'd by the seam there. Experienced players shoot the lower front plate, which is a one shot with APHE. Oddbawz did a video on and explained the huge weakness of these tanks.
I though the roof mounted mg was a actual machine gun but it's a decoration. you fooled me good sir.
Ave Wot player comment XD
Just two minutes in and my man wipes out every Panther D in existence :D
