I made a wool coat and I lined it with a Cotton +Steel cotton instead of using a satin fabric. My arms were always stuck in the sleeves. You might want to take that into consideration.

I did wonder where you were. Hope your husband recovers well from his surgery. I have used an Art Gallery cotton spandex and it was sumptuous and very soft and high quality and worth the money. Art Gallery makes quilting cotton so maybe, while a beautiful sentimental touch for your coat, is a bit too lightweight? You might want to line the sleeves with a bemberg otherwise your arms won't slip in and out easily.

Hi Sam, I am so relieved to see your video. I have noticed that there had not been a video for a few weeks and did not know how to check in with you to see if all was well. It never occurrs to me to go to Instagram and check peoples' accounts there as I do so little with my account.
I am so sorry to hear of your hubby's ill health and hope his surgery goes well and that he has a quick recovery. I am sure the whole situation has been as tiring on you as it is on him.
What I had hoped you would cover was Vogue's new Luxe collection. OMG, what a disaster that collection is. There is one good item in the whole range and it is the pink coat. It is so stylish. I am tempted to make it for myself but make the shoulders regular length, not the extended shoulder they have. I would probably also reduce the lapel just a bit. Other than those minor changes, it is an amazing coat. V1990 (if I remember correctly).
With regard to those sheep, you need to sneak out at night and sheer a couple and take up spinning and hand knitting!
Keep well and I look forward to your next video.

Hi Kim, thanks so much for the lovely message. I felt the same way and wished I could have had a way to reach out during the absence. How are you?
Thanks for hubby’s well wishes too, he’s just taking it easy and planning on a relaxed recovery. You are absolutely right though, it is strangely tiring for me too!
HA YES!!! I have seen it! Especially in the current world climate, I thought it was such a tone deaf release too. And I found navigating the simplicity site to just see the specific luxe release a complete nightmare, the website is really frustrating to use. Re the coat, yes I completely agree - it has fantastic potential. Not sure how I feel about the bow detailing though. I think a jacquard would look incredible in it. As for the various tuxedo style jackets missing shoulders?!? Why! 😂😩
Covering a few Christmas videos next - sewing advent calendars and whatnot but might add another mid week to cover the vogue collection because you’re right - it’s a total disaster! 😂
Ha great idea re sheep. I think my husband might have some thoughts if I suddenly came home with a spinning wheel but whilst he’s incapacitated it might be the perfect time 😂🫢👍
Thanks for laughs and lovely message, so happy to hear from you. Sending love, Sam ❤️❤️

Hello Samantha, started watching your videos for more realistic views, questions and thoughts than some over polished videos. On Art Gallery Fabrics, not used them but know from sewing books like Vogue etc that weaving method of fabric, treatment of thread (Mercerised/Mercerized?) makes the fabric qualities, think satin weave vs. twill, vs plain weaves. And that is not same as weight of fabric. I know from learning to buy online here in Sweden to look a g/m2 as big clue about heft and density of my fabric. You may need to interline the coat if worried about weight (durability) of that special memorial cat fabric. Good luck with projects. Hope you can return soon to your normal bedroom for better healing sleeping, or if sheep will be full winter pasture next to you 😢.

Hi! Thank you for the lovely message. And thank you for the mercerised information - it hadn’t even crossed my mind to check for this but you’re absolutely right, AGF do use mercerised cottons. Mystery solved - thank you so much for your help!
Yes, absolutely agree, I think I’ll use a woven sew in interfacing to add extra weight. I’ll update as to how it works out!
The sheep are normally put back inside for winter as we tend to get a fair bit of snow here so I’m remaining hopeful!! 😂🙈
Thanks again for the lovely message, 😘😘❤️

Hope your husband's surgery goes well and he stats feeling better. Low sewjo here, haven't been feeling myself, but I have a muna and broad waikere blouse out of a delicious striped corduroy almost all cut out. Sorry about the art gallery fabric. Other than quality, it's perfect for your project.

Hi Cat, lovely to hear from you. Thanks so much for the well wishes. Sorry to hear you’re not feeling yourself - is everything okay? Sending love to you. I wish we were all closer and could do real life coffee dates! Blouse sounds gorgeous, I’m sure it’s going to look beautiful when done. Take it easy and sending love and well wishes to you. Sam ❤️❤️

@SewinginSwitzerland I guess it's OK. I'm dealing w a sinus infection that is just dragging on and I'm mourning a friend of the family. She was in her 90s so it was expected, but it has really hit me hard. She was the last of that generation of my friends and family. But everything is gradually getting better. Wow, I sure wish we were close enough to get together!
