That moment when Meirda cut the tapestry hurt. Not just the time to make and the symbology of cutting her Mother out of the picture (literally). But tapestries like that were VERY expensive to make. That one had threads of gold and silver woven into it. Far more expensive that their weight in gold, because it was very difficult to make. Elaborate tapestries like thole were, often, used as part of a woman's dowery. And in castles like that, they were essential, as when hung, they offered insulation against the cold and damp that often pervaded stone structures like that. Also, the "Mend the bon torn by pride" hint, I think had four layers to it. The most superficial being the tapestry. The, slightly, deeper layer was the relationship with her Mother. The third was the relationship between the four clans that Meirda almost started a war with, for her pride. The last being the rift caused by Mor'du . His pride set the four kingdoms to war and cursed himself. By killing him she ended his torment. Also, I love the, slight, insinuation that the four clans were from the ancient four kingdoms. With Merida's family being ancestors of Mor'du. When Merida talked about their history, the clans were at war until her Father rallied them together to face the invaders. A remnant of the old war that never was mended and forgotten.
Also, the tapestry ripping was the thing that Merida did, and thus thinks of when she interprets the witch's words. But remember her mom throwing Merida's childhood bow into the fireplace also caused it to snap. While I think the spell could've been reversed even if Merida hadn't literally mended the tapestry, as long as she repaired the bond between her and her mother and the four clans, I like the implication that they could've fixed the childhood bow instead of the tapestry. Or better yet, the reason it's okay that they only mended the tapestry and not the bow also, is because neither were really needed to undo the spell; the witch meant mend the bond with her mother. The physical items were just symbolic.
@hunterlawrence3573 Personally , I always feel like the spell was a two way street. They both broke the bond because of their pride. So when the mother and daughter learned their lessons it fixed
I went to see Julie Fowlis (singer of Touch the sky) in concert with some friends (with kids) a couple of years ago. It was a small gig and she came out afterwards to say hi to us. My friend mentioned that next time we’d love to hear the Brave song as they hadn’t performed it. She was so apologetic when she saw the kids thinking she’d disappointed them. We told her not to worry and afterwards we were heading out the door when one of the backstage people ran after us and asked us to wait. We did, wondering what was going on, when she came out with her bouzouki player and said she really wanted to sing that song for us. So we were given a private little impromptu performance of Touch the Sky that night. Really lovely person and an amazing artist on top of that. Always think of her when I see Brave mentioned now.
The amazing! I always get annoyed when people say Merida is the only Disney Princess who doesn't have a song, because she does! She just doesn't sing it out-loud in the movie. This movie's soundtrack is so underrated. I'd love to see Touch the Sky performed live like that!
I think you’re the first person I’ve watched that knows the arrow animation is actually really accurate. I watched one reaction and they were like “oh no it’s wobbly!” No, that’s how arrows fly. It’s called the Archer’s Paradox. I was really into archery a few years ago so I absolutely love that Merida is an archer. Merida is one of my favorite princesses. My main complaint about the movie is I wish we got more archery and Merida being awesome. Instead of becoming Brother Bear… Then we don’t really see anymore of her being awesome until the final confrontation where she also actually bests her own dad at sword fighting.
We see her wilderness survival skills when she's in the woods with her mother. There's the part with catching the fish, sure, but she also knows which berries are poisonous, which is kinda awesome in its own way. I agree I'd love to see more archery and sword fighting though. If Disney World doesn't offer Brave-themed archery classes on property, they totally should!
What I enjoy about this movie is that at no point do you feel like the family doesn't love each other--they get annoyed and fight and sometimes hurt each other but the conflicts are always solvable when they take the time to listen and work it out. Even with the tapeatry tearing and bow burning, they don't hold onto that anger to preserve their egos; Merida doesn't say, "You deserve to be a bear for burning my bow" and refuse to help, she recognizes that she messed up and works really hard to make it right because her love for her mother is never in question.
Dudeeee. I’m not sure if you see these comments or not, but I just want you to know I appreciate your videos so much. They are so relaxing to watch and to see your optimism and joy is truly wonderful. Since I’ve attended a new school, I am far from my family and they don’t always have time to talk or game or do anything with them really. So when I watch these videos, I feel like I’m watching with a really great older brother I never had. Thank you Oscar 💚
Due to how many Disney films don’t have living/present mother figures, I’ve always loved how beautiful of a story Brave tells, focusing on the mother-daughter relationship. It has such a special place in my heart!
Again some great details hidden in this movie: Lord McGuffins son appears to speak gibberish, but actually its doric, a scottish dialect. The bear-headed horn the man blows into at the festival is a carnyx, an ancient celtic war trumpet. The head was usually a stylized boar, since the boar was the celtic totem of war. I actually heard the sound of the carnyx myself once (was on a renaissance fair where a man rebuilt one by himself) and these things get LOUD. The big black dogs they have are scottish deerhounds, an ancient breed closely related to the irish wolfhound. The horses they ride are Clydesdales, an old scottish breed of draught horses. They originate from a region with the same name centered on the river Clyde
this movie is so underrated, i dont know if it's because ive had a difficult relationship with my own mother growing up but this movie means so much to me, especially as it was the first (only?) movie focusing on a mother/daughter relationship, at least without demonizing either of them.seeing them both bonding on screen ALWAYS makes me cry
24:36 funny thing about this actually! there's something called the pixar theory which tries to explain how every pixar movie takes place in the same universe. in this theory, monster's inc takes place in the very distant future and the doors to the human world are time portals. to try and find sulley again as she grows older, boo harnesses time travel and magic, eventually living out the rest of her life in medieval scotland. that's why she can change the look of her cottage just by closing a door, and why we can see a carving in her cottage of someone that looks like sulley when we first meet her. of course, it's just a theory, but i was surprised that you made that connection!
It always breaks my heart seeing the queen throw Merida's bow into the fire and then immediately regret it and try getting it out. Just all the emotion and how they animated her face.
I love the mythology used in this, in regards to the Will O'the Whisps. There were all kinds of names: The Fair Folk, the Good Folk, the aos sidhe, the daoine sídhe. Yes, fairies. And as you would expect, they are trickster spirits. I suspect that they were the ones behind the backward lesson found in the whole bear situation. Also, notice the dedication to Steve Jobs at the end. It's worth looking into the interesting history of the founding of Pixar.
20:50 I like that small detail of Eleanor trying to shield Merida from the "bear". This movie really is made for the teen girls and their mothers (I was a young teen when this came out). Really helped both my mother and I find common ground and give each other perspective.
What A Good Day To Be A Marshmallow!. I remember going to see this movie in the theaters at a midnight premiere on my 12th birthday with my sister, and she sang happy birthday to me in the theater, it was my first midnight premiere at the time.
When Merida is hugging her mother at the end, saying she wants her back... It cuts so deep. I lost my mom in 2012 to cancer and what I wouldn't give to have her back. I was such a brat growing up, I have so many regrets. I disappointed her so much so many times and I'll never get the chance to say I'm sorry. I love this movie, but it's so hard to watch.
You're the best reactor on TH-cam, because you have such thoughtful debriefs after each movie. I really appreciate the depth with which you analyzed this movie. 😊
24:40 funny you should say that. There’s a theory that the witch is Boo using magic and time travel via doors to try to find Sully. Thats why everything is bear themed
Also that's the scene where they had to put all the traditional Pixar references, like A113 and the Pizza Planet truck. Though that reminds me of the fan theory that Aladdin takes place in a post-apocalyptic future version of the Middle East. All to explain how the Genie knows about modern celebrities and such.
Was thrilled to see you react to this, here's the story of why... When this movie came out, I bonded with it immediately as I had a bad relationship with my mum. A few years later I fell pregnant, and even though the family trait is to have three boys (the triplets, anyone?) and I was convinced I would, I thought of Merida as a girls name. Baby first kicked while watching bears at the zoo. Come to find I have a girl, who was born blonde like her father but with big disney blue eyes. A few months later, it turned ginger - the closest redhead relative we have is my great-grandfather. Not long after that, the wild curls appeared. Now, she's 8 years old and it's just the two of us, we have an incredibly close relationship. She's a sassy, independent thing who insists on trying to protect me, isn't afraid to speak her mind, and delights in anything that is considered 'improper'. Her existence also repaired the bond with my own mum. So that's my story, and as you can probably understand, Brave holds a very important place in our hearts.
i absolutely loved this movie growing up. she was one of the two characters that inspired me to pick up a bow and it was even better that she had the same sort of curly hair as me
I suggest you watch Song of the Sea, a celtic folklore animated picture, very beautiful! (and Oscar nominated - as I suppose the suggestion is now as well! :D)
This movie is really special to me. I lost my mom not long before this movie came out and when it got to the end where is Merida is saying "I just want you back" OMG I was crying and shaking in the theater. That scene gets me choked up every single time.
Absolutely love this movie! I'm Australian, but also part Scottish. I really enjoy watching your reactions and thoughts on movies and TV shows, Oscar 😊 There's a book called Bravely based on this movie by Maggie Stiefvater that's about Merida when she's older. It's a very intriguing story and not only focuses on Merida's story, it also portrays the triplets' stories and how they have different personalities and are no longer just "the boys". It has adventure, magic, family bonding and a little romance. If you're a reader, it's worth a read, I really liked it.
Thanks For The Book statements. I'll see if any of Utah's libraries have a copy at all. I love magical tales, and I love gaining inspiration from this specific Disney Princess, she's the one who interests me like Rapunzel might attract her biggest fans in her own chapter book collection.
Yay! So glad you’re watching Brave and wish it got more love. One of my favorite facts is that in an earlier draft where she had to choose a suitor at the end, they had her pick the blond boy with the thick accent…because he listened to her.
Having a strict mother who communicated through stares, when Merida turns round to be nose to nose with her mother after the last arrow it was a jumpscare for me 😂
This video came at a good time, I'm American and sooooo deeply depressed about the outcome of our presidential election, this helped lift my spirits just for a moment, thanks for that
This is one of my toddler's favorite movies. I have this whole movie memorized to the point where I can even understand what Young MacGuffin says. He loves to act out certain parts to the movie too. My husband and I will yell "A BEEEEAAAAAARRRRR" and he'll run down the hallway screaming 🤣🤣
24:38 there's.... A theory that the witch... Is Boo. She knows about the doors. She studied it. And eventually, created one that time traveled to this era. Why? Maybe for more woods to test? Study the Wisps? And turned anyone into bears because that's what her bestfriend used to look like? Or maybe she's trying to find the perfect door that lead to the future where monster inc takes place... To find her childhood friends... There is a carving of Sulley on her workshop... And she uses door to change her workshop, and then disappear... A wild theory, bit it became my head canon since it's just so sweet that she's still trying to find her friends...
In basics she's similar to Mama Odie. look at the what's happening, look at your part of the experience and figure out what you need so you can see who you are and go the distance with the solution that suits you best.
Hiya from Scotland!!! I'm so happy you enjoyed this movie, its very close to my heart. Its gorgeous, fun, the music is amazing and it really captures the Scottish sense of humour to a t. The accents are a lil put on sometimes, but that's kind of expected ❤❤ Ps. The language of the lullaby is Gaelic (gah-lic)
Merida was my childhood favorite princess. I learned archery because of her (also anytime I have to name a horse in a video game or something, it's either Artax or Angus) Idk if it's on purpose, but "Mor'du" (name of the mean bear) means "bitten" in french
27:26 it’s just funny how Merida knows how to take care of her self in the wild. What food to eat where to find clean water, etc. and her mom educated her and has zero clue about basic things like that 😂
Meridas Father is voiced by Billy Connolly, who is regarded as THEE BEST stand up comedian to have ever lived, the irony being that he is criminally underrepresented overseas He hardly ever writes scripts for his shows, he just gives himself reminders of what hes meant to talk about on stage, and he spontaneously makes jokes between the topics hes on, hes just naturally hilarious.
Yeah he’s definitely up there for sure. Totally agree if we’re talking about just the UK. I guess it really depends too on your criteria for the art if “stand up”
I really wish we could get a Brave TV series like the Tangled TV show. The lore of the world is so interesting and I liked the characters but I feel they were a little underdeveloped. I’d love to see an expansion of the world and characters in a show
omgeee this is one of my favssss have that one at home, because i absolutely adore this one. I'ts such a nice princess movie without romantic but mutual love. and about bravery from unexpected places. mulan, merida, tiana and belle are some of my favourite disney princesses. thank you for watching it, can,t wait to see your reactions ^^
Find it hysterical that you mentioned the witch disappearing like Monsters Inc. There is fan theory that the witch is actually Boo from Monsters Inc-there are carvings of Mike and Sully-and she figured out how to use the magic doors and ended up by accident here.
"This princess doesn't need a man" is absolutely the tip of the iceberg. I cried so hard when I first saw Brave. The story resonated very deeply with me. I love how it shows they were both wrong in areas (especially Merida) and they both needed to take time to really listen to each other (especially Elenor). One thing in particular that always makes me smile is how Merida goes from "It's not my fault" to finally admitting it was her fault in the end and apologizing. Only after this happened could the spell be broken.
I realized I've only watched this in dubbed version in my language..and now it's the first time watching the original version and her accent is so unique and I love it
This movie will always be a treasure in my heart. Would always watch and quote this movie with my sister when she was very little. But truly glad you got to check it out now. Fun Fact: Originally, the film did have plans for her to married to son of MacGuffin.
Love the new set mate! And this is totally underrated. Also the first (and so far) only Disney Princess movie where the protagonist doesn’t sing! Merida doesn’t seem like a princess who would sing anyway 😂
Having lost my mom 2.5 years ago, i can't watch the end of this film anymore without crying my eyes out. Our relationship was very similar to Eleanor and Merida with the tension and love between them. Miss you mom❤
@ np as a fellow Aussie who lives in Sydney I love watching a nice Australian guy and me and my sister are so obsessed with his vids ngl and have a g’day
@Fire-angle1 I agree. His channel is amazing. I enjoy watching his channel. I hope you have a good day, too. Wishing you and your your sister the best. 😀 That's awesome your from Australia. I'm American.
One of my favorite movies! I wish we had more mainstream Scottish animated films. There's so much lore that it should be easy to find more stories to make into movies ♥ For Brave, I adore that the animators and writers tried to pull in a lot of traditions and authentic details to share in this story. The lullaby that Merida's mum sings to her in the flashback chokes me up every time. It feels so magical and special ♥ So glad you enjoyed it! ~Caroline
Merida Rowena Ravenclaw (in Harry Potter) Kelly McDonald Queen Elinor Prof. Trelawney (in HP) Emma Thompson The Witch Mrs Weasley (in HP) Julie Walters Lord Dingwall Hagrid (in HP) Robbie Coltrane
idk if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but i enjoy how elinor has been preparing merida. you can see that she's been teaching merida to be a leader, to be a queen and not just a wife. she taught her history, public speaking (you must be heard from everywhere in the room!), and diplomacy, along with all the other womanly duties she was expected to know. of course, the way she went about it was too overbearing for merida, but her intent on raising her to be a strong woman and leader by her own right is to be admired.
As an American obsessed with everything Scottish I'm so glad you finally got to Brave. I love all of the characters but I could never get tired of Billy Connolly as Fergus. 😂💖
My favorite Disnification of old lore in Brave is the idea of Whisps "Leading you to your fate". Which is, technically, accurate...if your fate is to drown in a bog. Whisps are known for leading people deep into swamps fens and bogs to get lost and drown.
The thing i find funniest is that of the three Wee Dingwall is the one down for violence. The second his father said so that boy was on that man without a single second of hesitation!
Hey Oscar, I love your reactions💓 I've heard people complain about how Merida's not badass enough to take on Mordu, and it just blows my mind, since he's an actual bear!
excellent reaction. I love all the little details of this movie. I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m mother has a white horse. Her father is a black horse. They got together and had Meredith’s black and white horse. It’s totally a family. Poor dude couldn’t fix his curse because he killed his family off. No way to fix the bond that was broken. I wish to make a sequel to this one. I wouldn’t mind a live action remake that might actually work. I’d rather have an animated sequel though although we did kinda get a little bit of one in Wreck-It Ralph too when I show all the princesses, it was funny because they didn’t understand. Meredith because her accent was so thick like a mini sequel. Thanks for the fun until next time.
God reminds me of being a teenage girl. I was a good kid and my mom was a good mom but we fought all the time. We're quite different people. In the end, it was about me maturing but also about her changing and adapting, too. I'm 30 now and we have a great relationship. The more we've learning to communicate in a healthy way (including *listening*), the stronger our mother/daughter bond has become. This is a great movie to explore that dynamic.
This movie came out when I was around 6. I told my mother that the main character’s mom turns into a bear because I saw that mentioned in one of the advertisements. My mom didn’t believe me, thinking I was a 6-year old that misunderstood something I saw on TV. Then we saw the movie, and the girl's mom actually does turn into a bear! 😂 In my mom's defense, they kept that detail out of all the trailers. The only place I saw it mentioned was on some behind-the-scenes video the Disney Channel stars did where one of them mentioned that. We also hadn't watched Brother Bear yet, so the premise of humans turning into bears wasn't as familiar to us as it probably was to some other people.
Brave is one of my Favorite Disney Movies. It is not a normal Princess movie but it has action, and you can connect more with her than anything and her struggles but as a parent you can connect with the queen as well. such amazing writing
I really want to recommend "Footlight Parade" starring James Cagney. It's a musical but it's also very funny with a cast full of chemistry and spectacles that baffle the time period.
This is one of my absolute favorite Disney movies, I’m so glad you got to see it. You always have such fantastic and genuine reactions. As a queer afab American, I really needed something that would make me feel a little less hopeless after the election, and your videos always make me smile, so thank you.
Yay I love this movie!!! I was hoping you'd get to it, it's so unique and the music is just awesome. I watched it on the plane to Scotland a few years ago to get hyped up for a family trip and the animation portrays Scotland's deep forests so well....they really do feel magical! Also recommending again you watch Happy Feet! You'd love it
OMG FINALLY!!! I am over the moon you've finally watched this AND loved it as much as I thought you would, I've very much enjoyed watching you react to this one. I first saw it when it was released in the cinema and merida instantly became my favourite Disney princess! I have watched this countless times and i love it more and more each time, and the storyline of fate and destiny is so cute and humble mixed with so much good humor, Billy Connolly and the triplets just makes this movie so much more hilarious (I also like to think the day she can change her fate is most likely a sunday 😂) 💕
It's my movie of the childhood, when I didn't have a wifi I had only this on my laptop and I loved it so much, that I knew most of it by heart by dialogs in my native language. Also when I first find this yt channel I was searching to find if you have it. So it super that you chose to see it :D Merida is the best haha
The way these movies always make me cry so much even if I don't relate lmao😭 Ps: I really like the way you edit your videos, I feel like you actually pay attention to what to cut and what to leave and you're not just randomly cutting the movie to avoid copyright hahaha I appreciate that💜
Merida has her points but So Does her mother, The Queen. As Queen, I'm sure its overwhelming of her responsibilities and trying to look after everybody else in the kingdom. Its not just her family, do I can see why she puts her responsibilities first sometimes. I get that Merida wants some freedom and can be overwhelmed by the responsibility and how she's contantly told to be a perfect version of herself. But She handled that selfishly and unrashingly. Your right they both struggle with pride and have a hard time being vulnerable with each other. Humility is looked at as a weakness when its actually a strength which has the quality of life, bringing people together.
as an aromantic person, i can't put into words how special this movie is to me. i don't feel romantic attraction at all to anyone, and growing up it's always a constant stream of princesses marrying princes for their happily ever afters. but having a character who DOESN'T want to get married, whose character arc DOESN'T end with her getting married at the end as a "happy ending" after she has learned the error of her ways was so formative and important to me both growing up and now!! i love this movie so much!!
I think that the mom was turning into a bear before the 2nd day due to her acting as a bear (fishing in the river like a bear would) (them going after food in the room)
Man, every time I see a reaction on your channel to a movie that I love, I get so excited to watch it, and can't wait till the end of the day when I'm able to sit down, and watch the best reactor on TH-cam react to a great movie.
The animators for Disney had to come up with a brand new type of code to animate Merida’s hair
Was about to comment this! They had to do the same thing for Moana just a few years later
Didn't they do the same thing for Moana?
yall be waiting to comment this under all the brave reactions lol

You’re welcome ☺️

Fun fact: the bagpipers are also the ones who played for the HTTYD movies. They're in a band called the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
THAT WAS THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!?!?!
I’ve seen Red Hot Chili Pipers live and they’re soo much fun!!

Due to how many Disney films don’t have living/present mother figures, I’ve always loved how beautiful of a story Brave tells, focusing on the mother-daughter relationship. It has such a special place in my heart!
Yes I totally agree. Very nuanced and layered. Also Thankyou!! ☺️
24:36 funny thing about this actually! there's something called the pixar theory which tries to explain how every pixar movie takes place in the same universe. in this theory, monster's inc takes place in the very distant future and the doors to the human world are time portals. to try and find sulley again as she grows older, boo harnesses time travel and magic, eventually living out the rest of her life in medieval scotland. that's why she can change the look of her cottage just by closing a door, and why we can see a carving in her cottage of someone that looks like sulley when we first meet her. of course, it's just a theory, but i was surprised that you made that connection!
i’m from scotland and DAMN i feel so represented by this movie 🥲
I love that ❤ I'd love to hear from more Scots about their reaction to Brave
Merida is my favorite princess ❤, when I was a child I would comb my hair like her and imitate her 🤣.
Well those Sidhe sorts in modern writing are shown as tricksters but they have untold history beginning with Stone Age Tuatha De Danaan secrets too
Cool to know that at 15:42 you have an older brother named Angus just like Merida's horse in Brave 😄
Just out of interest, how old are you currently? Because surely times have changed with how birthdays are done...
@@ameliawalker104624
@@ameliawalker1046 24
Aye I saw this on my 12th birthday too!!
OMG YES. I LOVE that film, and I even have a shelkie t-shirt
I support this :) It's a different animation style from Disney, but equally awesome :) I really like the story as well :)
I really enjoy watching your reactions and thoughts on movies and TV shows, Oscar 😊
There's a book called Bravely based on this movie by Maggie Stiefvater that's about Merida when she's older.
Having a strict mother who communicated through stares, when Merida turns round to be nose to nose with her mother after the last arrow it was a jumpscare for me 😂
Merida is such a great character and I love her accent
The accents are a lil put on sometimes, but that's kind of expected ❤❤
Ps. The language of the lullaby is Gaelic (gah-lic)
😂🤣😂🤣 his face when the lady killed the chicken 😂🤣😂🤣
you should watch wolfwalkers! it’s based on old Irish myths/legends and it’s absolutely phenomenal! if you like Brave you’ll enjoy it for sure!
Merida was my childhood favorite princess. I learned archery because of her (also anytime I have to name a horse in a video game or something, it's either Artax or Angus)
Idk if it's on purpose, but "Mor'du" (name of the mean bear) means "bitten" in french
I think it means "Big black" in Scottish (and is usually transliterated as "Mor dubh").
This definition of Mor'du meaning bitten and the definition of it meaning Black Bear are what I've seen from those who know this old language well.
27:26 it’s just funny how Merida knows how to take care of her self in the wild. What food to eat where to find clean water, etc. and her mom educated her and has zero clue about basic things like that 😂
Meridas Father is voiced by Billy Connolly, who is regarded as THEE BEST stand up comedian to have ever lived, the irony being that he is criminally underrepresented overseas
He hardly ever writes scripts for his shows, he just gives himself reminders of what hes meant to talk about on stage, and he spontaneously makes jokes between the topics hes on, hes just naturally hilarious.
I’d love to see an expansion of the world and characters in a show
There may not be a TV show, but there is "The Legend of Mor'du" although it's pretty short at under 10 minutes long
@@sillyface6950 @nickioleary8577 There's also a novel called "Bravely" that serves as a direct sequel to the film.
There's several shorts they released on Disney Channel around the time the movie came out. You could check out those if you haven't seen them.
I love this movie a lot of people hate it but I love it for story, music and characters.
omgeee this is one of my favssss have that one at home, because i absolutely adore this one.
Love from Scotland!! 🏴💙
i love how the boys werent scared of the bear but where just like looking at Merida like "uhh why is this bear scolding us?" lol
Actually Brave is from Pixar Animation Studios..it's a Pixar film.
Having lost my mom 2.5 years ago, i can't watch the end of this film anymore without crying my eyes out. Our relationship was very similar to Eleanor and Merida with the tension and love between them.
Miss you mom❤
omg you uploaded right as i got my food😭😭 could not have been more perfect timing🫶🏻

Brave is one of my favorite Disney/pixar movies, and I'm so happy to see people react to it! 🏹🐻
~Caroline
Merida Rowena Ravenclaw (in Harry Potter) Kelly McDonald
Queen Elinor Prof. Trelawney (in HP) Emma Thompson
The Witch Mrs Weasley (in HP) Julie Walters
Lord Dingwall Hagrid (in HP) Robbie Coltrane
16:31 Dude, that was a crazy-astute observation that I've never noticed! Good on ya
YES, YES, YES I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT, MERIDA IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PRINCESSES
idk if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but i enjoy how elinor has been preparing merida. you can see that she's been teaching merida to be a leader, to be a queen and not just a wife. she taught her history, public speaking (you must be heard from everywhere in the room!), and diplomacy, along with all the other womanly duties she was expected to know. of course, the way she went about it was too overbearing for merida, but her intent on raising her to be a strong woman and leader by her own right is to be admired.
The best Disney line of all time: "A princess does nae stuff her gob!"
As an American obsessed with everything Scottish I'm so glad you finally got to Brave. I love all of the characters but I could never get tired of Billy Connolly as Fergus. 😂💖
YESSS I knew you'd appreciate this movie
My favorite Disnification of old lore in Brave is the idea of Whisps "Leading you to your fate". Which is, technically, accurate...if your fate is to drown in a bog. Whisps are known for leading people deep into swamps fens and bogs to get lost and drown.
I had the same sort of situation when I was kid my parents never listened to me and now I'm a mom of three boys so I always make sure I listen to them
I love how her dad is actually a lovable dork despite being this huge 'bear' man
The thing i find funniest is that of the three Wee Dingwall is the one down for violence. The second his father said so that boy was on that man without a single second of hesitation!
Just wanted to say I’ve been super stressed at college, but I’ve watched like all your videos and they always make me feel better :)
Hey Oscar, I love your reactions💓
I've heard people complain about how Merida's not badass enough to take on Mordu, and it just blows my mind, since he's an actual bear!
The dad is voiced by legendary Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, if you were wondering ❤
excellent reaction.
In my mom's defense, they kept that detail out of all the trailers.
“Our fate lives within us. You only need to be brave enough to see it.” That’s my high school senior quote. ❤️
Only technically..it's actually a production of Pixar Animation Studios.

My absolute favourite princess and the most beautiful mother and daughter story too🥹
Merida has her points but So Does her mother, The Queen.
Please watch Paddington 1 and 2! My top favorite movies of all time. Very wholesome and heartwarming and I think you'll love it.
I just love little merida and her 3 brothers. They're so adorable

I'm so glad you watched it, finally. Its one of my favourites ever.
as an aromantic person, i can't put into words how special this movie is to me. i don't feel romantic attraction at all to anyone, and growing up it's always a constant stream of princesses marrying princes for their happily ever afters. but having a character who DOESN'T want to get married, whose character arc DOESN'T end with her getting married at the end as a "happy ending" after she has learned the error of her ways was so formative and important to me both growing up and now!! i love this movie so much!!
I think that the mom was turning into a bear before the 2nd day due to her acting as a bear (fishing in the river like a bear would) (them going after food in the room)
