It wasn't truly out of nowhere. If you really pay attention to Love is an Open Door, there's a double meaning that many people don't catch until after they finish the movie. Anna sings it as in she's ready to be in love. Hans sings it as in "Anna being in love with me is an open door to the throne".

But (spoilers for the sequel) then frozen 2 goes and makes indigenous Sami out to be ASIAN??? Like??? That’s not how it works!!!
They do go into the origin of Elsa's powers in the sequel, however, I think it's fine to just leave it a mystery in general and not explain them. Sometimes the side details like that aren't so important, it's not like that information was critical to the plot

Scoot, if possible you should react to the songs from the broadway musical! There are REALLY good songs in it that aren't in the movie, like one called Monster that's sung by Elsa.

Man, I have so many mixed feelings on this movie... like I like it because it's nostalgic, it's visually stunning, the music is great, etc. But on the other hand, as someone who studied film and storytelling in undergrad I can't unsee/ ignore all the flaws in the writing and the weird parts of the story that just... don't make sense. Still enjoyable to watch, tho :)

Which is why the twist didn't work well, at least for me. There was zero setup for it.
