Although I enjoyed the interview with the absolute quintessential expert historian on Bonnie and Clyde, John Neal Phillips, the number of commercials one must endure to listen is indeed “criminal.”

Because Hamer and Gov Ferguson were bitter political enemies . Hamer had campaigned for her opponent in 1932 , earning her further hatred . According to Simmons , he was doubtful of getting Hamer to agree to work for Ma Ferguson , and equally doubtful of convincing Ferguson to be willing to hire Hamer . No , Ma Ferguson did not disband the Ranger Organization . What she Did do was fire every single then serving Ranger , from top to bottom , all at once , and replace them all with her political cronies . So while a Ranger Organization still existed in name , from the viewpoint of the professional , career Rangers , the organization was dead , for a minimum of 2 years .
ABSOLUTELY... and I also noted how you mentioned Bonnie and artfully dodged mentioning Clyde who killed 9 police officers in cold blood. Never mind that some officers are on their first day of work or officers close to retirement or officers with little baby girls or officer engaged to be married and bride to be shows up at the funeral in a wedding dress. Never mind there were several eye witnesses who saw Bonnie fired back at police officers at the Red Tavern and the Joplin residence. Never mind Bonnie was present along with Clyde in at least 3 killings. Never mind she knew Clyde also killed regular folk people running their stores I love any show with John Neal Philips...he assisted Blanche Barrow in her book!
Testimony of four witnesses…not just one farmer, said Bonnie shot one of the state trooper. This is according to the indictments filed for the murders. The conversation between Henry and Frank occurred in Acadia Louisiana not in West Dallas. Hamer and Gualt did travel around and were within 5 minutes of Barrow and Parker on three occasions. Hamer’s account was that he stepped into the road…just sayin. All of these facts were from the Highwaymen’s director who got them from Fusco who researched Bonnie and Clyde.

He edited Blanches notes, written from prison into a book called "riding with Bonnie and Clyde". Its a good read. I really like this guy.
I'm sorry, the book is called my life with Bonnie and Clyde. It is blanche barrows memoirs edited by John into a fine book.

Hamer was a great self-promoter so a lot of flat out lies in the Highwaymen based on Hamer's story which so-called historians continue to repeat.
