  • Silver is a hymn to the CD. I had some new musical instruments and fx pedals to create new sounds and textures with, and the song pretty much wrote itself in response. The lyrics celebrate my first two CDs - by David Sylvian and Cocteau Twins - and the first CD I ever got signed, the Holding Our Breath EP, the day I first met Slowdive in 1991. They had released their first album Just For A Day the day before, but I didn't yet have a copy for them to sign...
    LYRICS:
    Nineteen eighty-four
    David Sylvian, Brilliant Trees
That is where it all began for me
    Cocteau Twins, The Pink Opaque
    Can you hear me?
    Can you feel me?
    Call out from yesterday
    Today
    Never lost, never fade away
I heard Slowdive for Just A Day
Sweet spun silver, calling Sister Sue
Seeing Slowdive for just a day
Silver disc, silver disc turn around now
Silver disc, silver disc turn around round
Music and lyrics by Andrew Rose
    Recorded summer 2024
