I've been a hobbyist leather crafter for over 10 years. I have seen so many other leather crafters work hobbyist and professional. Something about your products stand out so much to me. Maybe its all the videos I've watched of yours. Maybe it's my bias because our styles exist in the same realm of simplicity and cleanliness. But you have something special sir. Keep it up!
If you think about it, there is so much information and skill a person needs to make cool stuff. Really. Woodworking, leather craft, programming, finishing. Each one is a specialty in itself. Amazing stuff. Thank for sharing.
to be fair, using those computerized machines is nice and all, but de-values the handmade aspect of it and is actually damaging to people that produce similar goods with just handtools, the cost to make something like this with just handtools would be worth 3-4x the price. its nice piece regardless.
00:36 You should not make cross cut against the fence with the table saw. That might make kick back which is most common table saw accident. Use cross cut sled.
I had a table saw kick back about a 10"x10"x1/2" board, that thing spiraled back at me and hit me in the stomach so fucking hard i thought i had internal bleeding lol.
Beautiful work! I love the simplicity and the fact that it doesn’t have chargers and other stuff built in. Plenty of other places to get stuff like that but clean, quality work like this is rare. Great video as well. Solid work!
5:20 I haven't worked with leather so it's probably a dumb question, but why did you cut further down the roll of leather and leave that scrap piece to the left?
Did I just see a LKG gold coin sneak into the lovey shots at the end 🤔 Your videos are shot beautifully and is what got me into this leather craft world a year ago in lockdown, Keep up the amazing work. 👍
Just ordered this and your Matte Black & Black Keychain. Will pair nicely with the V3 Rugged Tan Wallet I got awhile ago. Love your products, love your story, keep doing your thing and stay awesome!
@@LittleKingGoods Absolutely! Took everything in my power to not add the Uncharted Satchel in English Tan to the cart too…awesome craftsmanship and well worth the cost but not in the cards for me at the moment. Look forward to seeing what the future holds from you and appreciate you sharing the BTS process, very inspiring as well as entertaining!
Nicely done, Mate. You're moving up in the world. Got your Shapeco and the Glowforge working for you. All you have to do is cut and paste. LOL. Really nice piece. Cheers.
Please make these again! I'm currently looking for the perfect valet tray, and there's none more perfect for me than yours! I've signed up for email notifications on your website for this item, so I'm hoping it's soon!
Man, do I agree! I would JUMP on this if it incorporated a Qi wireless charging pad that could handle charging a phone, ear buds and smart watch! I don’t own a smart watch but a tray like this that can’t charge is great for pictures but it doesn’t provide a place to lay your MOST consistent piece of EDC overnight - your phone! Not unless you want a cord dangling. If you use earbuds, like so many of us, there’s a 2nd cord running across it. Smart watch wearer- now you’re covered in wires. Pretty sure it’s easy to source wireless charging pads capable of charging 2-3 devices. Shouldn’t be hard to router out an additional layer for the pad (under the leather) and route a USBC cable out the side. Sure it’d raise the cost but I want a tray that can actually get my device(s) ready for the following day AND look this great doing it! It’s SUCH beautiful work! If only it had that LAST little detail that made it so much more functional. At least as an option! PLEASE??
I was thinking the same thing. I have the Courant "Luxury" Wireless charging tray which is much the same in form factor and purpose but under what I admit is an attractive leather surface it feels and sounds plastic. I'm sure it's like that because... what does it really matter what's under a thing that's entirely wrapped, but still it was the first thing I noticed when I unpacked it. I'd pay a bit more to have the same functionality in a more attractive format.
I have made a few of these in the past. The biggest issue with wireless chargers is that they are #$%#$% expensive if you want to get a reliable one. I used to sell my trays for about 200$, adding the charger would be another 150$+work time at the very least. I am sure there is a market for it, but I couldnt find it at the time.
I love videos like this. No music, no talking, just the beautiful AMSR of tools and machines working.

also filming and editing the video
Incredible work. As a woodworker myself, I appreciate your work with tools and the finish product makes me want to make a tray like this for myself

Agreed. At least push it all the way through.

Can’t wait to get mine!
So pumped I was able to grab one of these. Mine came a few weeks ago and it might be the nicest thing in my office. Keep up the great work Ryan!
Thanks for the support Steven! They are probably my favourite thing I make haha.
Yes please
DO NOT USE THE FENCE ON A TABLE SAW TO CROSS CUT!!! Accident waiting to happen.
Exactly my thought when I saw that!!!
Yeah you need a cross cut rig. They’re not hard to make
It’s a good thing he has a robot to do the rest of the woodwork, because he’s going to lose some fingers cross cutting and ripping like that.
Not gonna sugarcoat it: watching that crosscut made me fear for your safety.
Please listen to these comments. If you like your fingers and face the way they are!

If only this one had a wireless charger in it that’d be banging.

This is just 🔥🔥🔥
awesome ! with my best regards !
Wow! Very nice! What was this backing paper that you put on the back of the leather?
This inspires me to make my spare hardwoods into stuff.
Gooood Job 👍👍👍👍
Very good!!!
Your workshop look so goof man!
Good lordy jesus. Gonna send this to some relatives who haven't gotten me an xmas gift in years.
Is that we you commented? So that they'll see your this of yours when you sent the video?😂
granted.
Absolutely gorgeous piece man keep rockin!
wonderful
Очень ловко. Золотые руки. Спасибо, интересно смотреть.
What is the backing you put on the leather before laser cutting it?
Have you thought about using a flush trim bit on your router to take the tabs back instead of the disk sander? Less chance of marking the edge then
What kind of wax/sealer stuff did you apply to the wood at the end?
Perfect!
Great work. Some day I'll have lots of machines to make the work go faster. But for now, all hand made except for when I sand the edges of something.
Beautiful piece!
🤩 Nice
Dope!!
exceptional!
5:33 Where did you get that big roll of masking tape?
Is it for minimising burn from the laser?
Beautiful!🐝❤️🤗
From Morocco with love.. 👌🏻👌🏻
Really nice design. I am interested in cnc you are using. Did you built it by yourself or it is serial production machine. Thanks!
do you have the option of custom sizes?
Classy!
Unreal!
Nice, lets get this out onto a tray.
Consider me inspired! Very beautiful work.
How long till you bring this item back to your shop?
can't wait to order one :)
Is this a namisu pen? Great work
.. wow...
You use Tokonole as contact cement?
Excellent Ryan! Love these! What is the stuff you finished the walnut with ?
Smith’s Leather Balm!
@@LittleKingGoods what are you using to apply it and where did you get it?
Nice Girl Decks on the wall! Beauty shop man. I really want to see you make a slim bi-fold wallet.m that can hold unfolded bills in it. 🤘🏼
Wow,it’s amazing!
Watching from dhaka, Bangladesh.
What software do you use for cnc cut?
Absolutely beautiful!! what did you use to adhere the leather to the wood? it looked like the same product used to burnish the leather?
Yeah that has me confused as well. I’m guessing maybe he recycled a tokonole container for glue?
