    Ever wondered how to get the most out of your Gibson or Epiphone ES-335, or your ES style guitar? In this tutorial and ES-335 tone tips video, Dinesh explains the controls on the ES-335, how to use them to get a bucketload of different sounds, and how to blend the volume and tone knobs on your Gibson to open up a world of different tones you (probably) never knew you had access to. This Gibson tone controls tutorial will show you how to get every sound from your Gibson ES-335 guitar and find out why it’s considered by many to be the most versatile electric guitar design of all time.
    Just like a Gibson Les Paul or SG, Gibson (and Epiphone) ES-335 models boast dual volume and tone controls as well as a three-way toggle pickup selector switch that allows you to isolate or blend the twin humbucking pickups. It’s a recipe for a smorgasbord of juicy tones, but so many people forget that you can do way more with those controls than just turning one pickup off and manipulating the pickup selector for a killswitch effect (although that is very cool and Dinesh shows you how to do that too).
    Watch as Dinesh shows you how to blend ES-335 pickups by beefing up the volume or tone on contrasting pickups to get a thicker, bolder sound, or thinning things out get a funkier, janglier sound from your guitar. Dinesh also shows you a few pro ES-335 tone tricks every owner should know!
    If you already own a Gibson ES-335, you’ll know it's one of the most versatile, comfortable, and downright cool electric guitars ever made, and with this tone control tips video, you’ll soon learn how to get the best possible sound every time. The only guitar you ever need? It certainly could be the one guitar in your collection to rule them all. And yes, contrary to popular belief, the ES-335 can do heavy alternative rock and metal tones!
    If you've ever wanted to know: Why is the Gibson ES-335 so popular? What is Gibson ES-335 best for? Are Gibson ES-335 heavy? What is the 335 tone? We've got you covered!

    I can’t afford a Gibson, but I already had an Ibanez 335 style, so I modded it with a quality wiring harness (CTS, Switchcraft, & Sprague caps) and Duncan 59s. I plan on using some of this. And maybe someday I can afford a real 335.

    Question on Gibson pickups.....
    Can I use a Seymour Duncan Trippelshot ring to make use of coil split wiring options like in phase or out of phase? Meaning instead of replacing the pots only adding the pickup rings that has the two little switches ......

    My Epiphone SG 400 "1966" on the Neck pickup would sound like the most muddy mess if you rolled the tone down to 4 like in this video. I don't know if mine is as bright on 10 as this guitar on 4. I can't figure out the discrepency - is this guitar wired for 50s vintage wiring harness?

    • @miserableunoriginal
      @miserableunoriginal 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would assume it’s a combination of the wiring and the pickups in general. I’m just guessing, but I’d assume this has 50s wiring, which helps maintain treble when rolling off on volume. Also epiphone pickups are notoriously muddy and too hot.

    Gibson control manipulation 101!Not exclusive to 335s but informative none the less.50s tone control wiring can be a positive factor as well,especially when rolling the volume down[retains highs without the need for a treble bleed]Not mentioned was the wah effect you can get by rolling off the neck tone completely and manipulating the toggle from neck to bridge.Also noteworthy is the perceived resonance boost when rolling off the neck tone completely,putting the switch in the middle,and leaving other controls full up.A creamy,sustainy sound when using distortion.Enjoyed the video!

      Hi Antonio, what amp are you using? I’ve got a new model ES335 with a T-Type in the neck, which is really bright through my Vox AC15. I turn the tone down to 7 and volume to 9. On the bridge (a Burstbucker 2) I have the tone at 5 and volume at 9 and often bring the tone down to 2 if I’m using that pick up alone.

      @@AntonioLopez-bc6qgthat’s a fantastic amplifier so I can’t imagine it’s responsible for the dullness. It might be worth trying your ES335 with other amps though to see if it makes a difference. I find the Vox sound is quite bright.

    I have always loved the 335 and it is always my dream guitar but it seems to be getting over taken by the market now. Like you look at your favourite old movie and go - the newer ones are better….but the love remains but maybe not the future with it in. Happy and sad

    • @fender4brad
      @fender4brad 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 335 and 339 are very close, my Les Paul has 59 in the neck, it sound different, tighter to my ear. My 339 has a chip on the volume that help keep the full spectrum. Only thing I don’t like, it keeps it from a decent jazz tone. It is a rock monster. 339 clean tone is more acoustic sounding to me. I’d go with the hollow body personally.
