We may think this was a quick job, but NO. Big Boss had to open and close the laptop. It must be wrapped again and all the paper work must be done. No job is a small job. The guy that did the drawing told a great story. Thanks Nirthridge Fix
The argument is that they're always repairable whereas a lot of other manufacturers end up being a no-fix. When I first started watching NF I thought the same as you (I have two Asus laptops) but now I'm not so concerned.
Hi Alex! Before to use the thermo camera you can heat a screwdriver and use it as a pointer. In this way you can identify better the place of the wrong component. Wish all best!
What the hell is going on here that in one hours time 2.3k people have watched this video, and there are only 26 comments and only 313 people have liked it?? Come on people, His videos show the RIGHT way to do things. He uses the best equipment and sells it as well. He is hilarious. I come to see how many thing the boss of all bosses has to reassemble that day! LOL C'mon people, you came to watch because you like it! Take the two seconds to say something, and press the like button at least! SHOW your support!! I wish I didn't live on the other side of the continent! I would come apply for a job tomorrow!
It seems that theres no quality control on the Asus company,i been watching Northridgefix for a long time and most of the repairs are Asus ROG gaming laptops with no power and yes they are expensive,😀Northridgefix as always the best✌.
hi alex,i have been watching your videos every day ,very informative. would it be possible to put a display of the multimeter in a small window in the corner ? thanks
hi. ok i have a very small problem i have 2 2tb ext usb 3 drives. one started to tick so i transferred the io board from good drive to the ticker drive it did not fix it. now problem i have is the drive has 6 years of backup codes and emails and all my product keys from old msdn days and a few backups of all my 1tb of paid software and 8 years of backups of sales. the io boards are fine just the drive is ticking like a bomb. i do have a 4tb waiting for me to recover to.
I have an Asus gaming laptop that won't start up, when you push the power button the keyboard backlights come on, screen is black and nothing to external screen, CPU and GPU both get hot and the fans never spin. any idea?
Try Fet Driver in other side test in Ohm On Capacitor BST, Find Resistance bellow 1M Ohm, Because FDPC5018SG BST on Q1 10V minimum 4.1M Ohm - 5M Ohm, mosfet Not Shorted but below Spec, i found 5 from 7 Mosfet VRM 0.8M ohm, maybe mosfet on aging
Regards, excellent work, I always watch your videos, now I'm struggling with one of the asus esatas, but I don't know how much voltage to inject, how much voltage do you inject for these boards?, thanks in advance, regards.
Hey NorthridgeFIx, Did you see Louis rossman's latest video? He made a video about a repair wiki that is expanding people's knowledge about how to repair different devices. Would be great if you could make a guide on how to repair different GPUs.
Thats really scary that all of the asus gaming laptops gone bad, just because of a short. I think they should overwork and overthink their boards. Not good for the image of asus. But good and fast work for you, easy money. Great video, amazing work. Thank you for the video, greets
Hi... I've tried soldering an 1x2mm capacitor on my 11yr old graphic card but no success... Steps : 1. Pads looks rusty... so Applied heat with rod on board and cleaned all solder from pad with copper mesh... and gave alcohol wipe. 2. Tried applying fresh solder but it dosent stick on board pad like a dome instead turns into ball and runs away from pad floating around the board. (Surface tension) P.S. I am no professional... just got basic soldering kit to try and repair a few things and learn.
Hey man i have a question i have rog strix 15 One day i thermal pasted my laptop and the right sided gpu fan got slowed felt like it stopped spinning in the armory crate gpu fan rpm is 0 and cpu fan is okay.. I thought i messed up my fans while cleaning So later i got the fan replaced but it didn't solved my issue.... I checked the 4 pin connector they were fitted firmly but i still don't know why my gpu fan rpm is 0 and it doesn't feel like its spinning at all.. Whole heatsink is now dependent on my left side cpu fan. According to you what could be the issue i may have caused during thermal pasting?
I'm curious why someone has not created a FLIR camera that also has a regular camera and then super-impose the FLIR hotspots on top of the normal image. Would make pinpointing much easier. That sounds fairly easy to do with software... Am I crazy?
Heat can cause thermal expansion, causing internal stresses which result in microfractures that compromise the internal layers of the cap, and voltage spikes can also stress the part to failure if the max working voltage is close to the margins of the circuit.
So first my 3080 ROG STRIX OC died, EXACTLY the same symptoms as the one that alex fixed with the power comnector shorting and shutting down the entire system, now I see this, I've got the rog strix laptop as well, same red PCB, if this thing fails as well I swear to god I'm going to lose my sh. My desktop is entirely ROG except for the AIO and it has been nothing but PAIN during these past two years, armoury crate is a disaster, what the hell happenend to this brand it used to be great
I bought an ASUS Rog Strix laptop on amazon for $1169 with prime and it was originally like $1400. after about a year of having it, its starting to run like shit and be really slow. I would have to clear the %temp% folder and my history for it to run faster.
It's amazing how easy and simple the repair looks when someone with so much knowledge and experience is doing it.
That drawing is such a gem, i love how the artist drew the heatgun and tweezers as like mafia bodyguards 😂
We may think this was a quick job, but NO. Big Boss had to open and close the laptop. It must be wrapped again and all the paper work must be done. No job is a small job. The guy that did the drawing told a great story. Thanks Nirthridge Fix
As I say to all those hopeful customers "It's never a 'loose wire'. And there is no such thing as a five minute job."
Don't get tired of making these videos because I don't get tired of watching them
🤣🤣🤣 That drawing is the best!! However the hot air wand needs a name as well! Rufus cant have all the attention!
I love that bad cap drawing!
It´s amazing how easy seems to be any repair on your hands! I always wait lunch hour to see your videos at work. Greetings from Ecuador Alex.
Can't even count how many ASUS board/laptop you've had here like what the hell asus??? Great video as always and love it!
Alex, channels like yours are the reason why I don't watch television.
excellent diagnostics , experience pays. Good drawing too.
The drawing is just amazing, thnks again for teaching us, much love from Kenya
3:35 a very nice drawing, thank you for showing it :D
Brilliant artwork. Very clever and beautifully executed.
Great fix as always, love the ending :D Asus really need to change the parts they use because this is happening to much for such expensive laptops.
The argument is that they're always repairable whereas a lot of other manufacturers end up being a no-fix. When I first started watching NF I thought the same as you (I have two Asus laptops) but now I'm not so concerned.
Let's be honest, the end of the video with that Northridgefix logo was king. Still an awesome ending Alex!
I love the NBFix mini pen iron. Excellent for tiny work.
Excellent craftsmanship thank you
That drawing is awesome!😂🤣👍👍
Makes my day that people can and still make such things.
"Every Rufus I knew was a little rough on the edges"...this was too funny!
You could revolutionise dentistry, Alex. Just inject current in the mouth and see where the alcohol boils! Amazing work
Hi Alex! Before to use the thermo camera you can heat a screwdriver and use it as a pointer. In this way you can identify better the place of the wrong component. Wish all best!
You do an excellent job as a cleaner , well done ☮
Hello, could you please tell me how do you know the capacitance of the replaced capacitor
Love the drawing.
Great drawing, someone's very talented ! I hope you call your tweezers Rufus from now on in all the videos 😂
I can make a mount for the thermal cam.
that end is awesome 😅
i didn't know about the alcohol trick on the capacitor Thanks boss for this trick
Could you also check the bad cap by measuring each side in continuity mode?
Sir, thank you for your time you sowing,
As long as you find the problem we're happy ✌🏾

Ikr this guy's a gem, so happy I found his videos. I've learnt so much just by watching them.
LOOL the ending made me laugh: ”pressed photo instead of video, what can you do” 😭
I loved the end of the video.
It would be better if you could tell us the ohmic value when you say it is short...short could be within 10Ohms also right?
Best ending ever lol
What can you do! 😆
that drawing is awesome

How did you know the value of the replaced cap?
By using an LCR meter on a neighboring cap that's likely identical, or taking the same cap from a donor board.
Thumbs up for the ending 👍 what can you do.

Always impressive 👍
Good job mate 👍
Thank you Alex

the video button has broken, can you fix it?
Why not print a Tripod Adapter?
Does the cup drink?
I bet you could spin up an adapter to mount that FLIR camera with 3D printing no problem
How much V and AMPs are you injecting?
Hi Alex do you stock the new repair flex for nintendo switch the one that replaces all the ripped pads ?
The company they come from is called ripped traces
Hi... I've tried soldering an 1x2mm capacitor on my 11yr old graphic card but no success...

1. Pads looks rusty... so Applied heat with rod on board and cleaned all solder from pad with copper mesh... and gave alcohol wipe.

Flux?
What happened to house hunting and warehouse hunting?

What about contacting warranty instead
@@Master777with69 out of warranty bruh.. thats why i thermal paste by myself
I'd like to see you in a Flash Gordon drawing as Dr Hans Zharkov, sending one of Ming's death ships (in the shape of a MOSFET) to the 9th dimension.
I'm curious why someone has not created a FLIR camera that also has a regular camera and then super-impose the FLIR hotspots on top of the normal image. Would make pinpointing much easier. That sounds fairly easy to do with software... Am I crazy?
that's how most of thermal camera already are, it's a setting. You can choose the degree of thermal image over the normal image.
3:27 LMAO
Your experience is insane 😅. I'm "almost sure there is a short" & there was a short!
@Boofy Goofy ikr asus laptops fail so much but gamers still buy asus. I'm trying to avoid that brand, but it's the only that's priced well for me.
What is normally the cause of these kinds of issues? What causes the capacitor to go bad?
Heat can cause thermal expansion, causing internal stresses which result in microfractures that compromise the internal layers of the cap, and voltage spikes can also stress the part to failure if the max working voltage is close to the margins of the circuit.
THAT IS TOO FUNNY NICE CARTOON NICE VIDEO AS ALWAYS
No Big Boss finish this time. We missed him! =)
What can you do!

Rufus passed away... Long life to Rufus!
By the way... I miss so much the ending tune 😔
*_Good guys come and go, but bad guys last for ever!_*
Any other TH-camr would of remade the take. But not you Alex. You have more important things to do 😅
What can you do … 😅
My Asus laptop just turned off automatically because of water spillage what should i do?
open it and try to dry it as best you can and see if it works again
It is alarming how many Asus Laptops you have to repair and all usually have the same issue, should this not be a recall?
I bought an ASUS Rog Strix laptop on amazon for $1169 with prime and it was originally like $1400. after about a year of having it, its starting to run like shit and be really slow. I would have to clear the %temp% folder and my history for it to run faster.
That's not the fault of the laptop, mainly down to Windows. CCleaner is pretty good for decluttering the OS
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
3d print your own bracket for your flir camera.
Don't mess with Rufus 😆
Perfect
Nice job! Great to see if you have the right tools and knowledge it's such a quick fix! I'm sure you can get a 3D printed mount for your flir camera.
the ending made me laugh hahahah.. what can you do
Say goodbye to the bad guy, the surgeon killed him off.
What can you do 💯
XDDD Amazing picture at the end
What can you do? XD made it even better
Asus is the other name for premium quality .
I’m gonna hav to make another parody video of u Alex…
Me receiving the zero owms resistors and zero henry coils xD
(Just plain old wire)
I met a young man named Rufus about eight years ago. He went to prison for murder.
Hm, board is discolored :)
i think ASUS need to be made aware of these issues there's clearly a problem with there cap supplier.
You need to sell that pic on a T shirt......I will buy 2.
lmao that drawing doe! i dig that hahaha
lov your vids,.//.,
nice
Hello bad guy! 😅
Surprise ending! No one will be allowed in the theater in the last 2 minutes!
No power on an Asus laptop what a rare thing
There is Sus in Asus.
❤❤
lol Rufus. I need him. My gtx 970 capacitor is blown
It's amazing how easy and simple the repair looks when someone with so much knowledge and experience is doing it.
Alex says: today we have an ASUS laptop for repair. Once again.
I skip the video.
