He is also scared of losing his job to machines. Like, he probably needed to work very hard to become detective, and knowing that a "fake perfect plastic imitation of human" can take his job from him one day, not doing anything to deserve this is..unnerving? His job is very important to him. I think that he also don't like that androids are so blank, don't have their own opinion etc., just do orders. They never feel anything, and it annoys Gavin. Maybe that's another reason why he is always mean to Connor, he wants him to actually do something? Defend himself, talk back? Just wanna draw out a reaction. By the way, he can be a dick to humans, too. He's only shown being hostile to Connor and Hank. Connor because he's an android detective and humans losing jobs to androids is a hot topic and Hank because Hank has maintained his rank as lieutenant despite being a belligerent drunk who doesn't show up before noon. Note during the interrogation Gavin says "this time", strongly implying Hank has pulled that kind of stunt before and not been punished for it. Game also shows he has enough of a comfortable rapport with both Tina and Chris to converse with them casually, so it's pretty likely his behavior is targeted.

Detective Gavin Reed was honestly such a cool ass character and had so much potential. I feel like we got kinda robbed because he was intentionally written off to be just some random asshole when he easily was just as much of a dick to Connor as Hank was when they first met. The only real difference between them is that Connor simply spent more time with Hank, so Hank grew more fond of him. Gavin easily could have been a redeemable character.
I think so too. They sort of hint at that potential with the interaction options if you answer him instead of ignore. But tbh I feel any redemption story Gavin had would've unfold the same way Hank's did, or be too similar at the very least, so for the sake of avoiding redundancy its better that they left him alone to show that even though people can change, not everyone does.

It's also apparent that Gavin doesn't know much about androids, how they function, what is deviancy etc (since he thinks androids can be "roughed up" when they don't actually feel pain). Since he's confused and scared, he becomes tense.

He's only shown being hostile to Connor and Hank. Connor because he's an android detective and humans losing jobs to androids is a hot topic and Hank because Hank has maintained his rank as lieutenant despite being a belligerent drunk who doesn't show up before noon. Note during the interrogation Gavin says "this time", strongly implying Hank has pulled that kind of stunt before and not been punished for it. Game also shows he has enough of a comfortable rapport with both Tina and Chris to converse with them casually, so it's pretty likely his behavior is targeted.

Detective Gavin Reed was honestly such a cool ass character and had so much potential. I feel like we got kinda robbed because he was intentionally written off to be just some random asshole when he easily was just as much of a dick to Connor as Hank was when they first met. The only real difference between them is that Connor simply spent more time with Hank, so Hank grew more fond of him. Gavin easily could have been a redeemable character.
I think so too. They sort of hint at that potential with the interaction options if you answer him instead of ignore. But tbh I feel any redemption story Gavin had would've unfold the same way Hank's did, or be too similar at the very least, so for the sake of avoiding redundancy its better that they left him alone to show that even though people can change, not everyone does.
@@mcflurryfrostie I think the key line is "Are androids going to take my job"? This might be the root of the hatred that many police officers including Gavin possess towards androids. It's also apparent that Gavin doesn't know much about androids, how they function, what is deviancy etc (since he thinks androids can be "roughed up" when they don't actually feel pain). Since he's confused and scared, he becomes tense.

When you're punched in the stomach you go "oof" beacuse a sudden amount of air flows out of you. Connor has a mouth and presumably space for air, so he can be winded, it will have no effect but he'll still make the sound.
