Helpful video, thanks. I'll mention that the username for ec2 instances, in addition to ec2-user, can also be: ubuntu, centos, root, or admin - an incorrect username can give a "Server refused our key" error.

Go to connection -- SHH -- auth -- Credentials (in credentials Browes your key path, don't add anything in other Two options) then click on open.

Under auth you will find one more sub section called credentials browse the ppk file from there.

had the same issue. like he said towards the end I just needed to go to the security groups and check the inbound rules and make sure you have it set that it will allow the ssh connection.
