I liked the pouring at an angle tip.

Have ordered one of these after being caught out recently without water on a longer than expected walk at one point along a river. On the storage front I was thinking of filling the bag with salt water and then put the top on with the filter on the inside, then just squeeze the bag until the salt solution starts coming out the mouth piece and then put the cap on, so its all full of salt solution and self contained for storage, then empty and flush ahead of the next trip

That's actually incredibly simple and genius at the same time! I'll probably start doing that storage method from now on myself. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for this - just bought one of these and the instructions are not great - this video really helped

Glad to help! Exactly why I make these gear videos.

Nice video and very informative! I’ve got a BeFree filter that I carry with me when I’m not going to be able to pack in enough clean water. I don’t think it has the back flush capability that one does though. 👍🏻

I'm not familiar with the BeFree filter, I'll have to check it out!
I decided to get a filter after hiking in with a gallon of water in one hand.. never again!

You can also try the Platypus gravity works carbon element to try and take some of the bad taste and contaminants from the water. it comes with a short piece of hose to attach it to the end of most filters, and by the looks of it this one as well.

Just looked it up! Seems like it can be used with several different filtering systems, pretty neat.
Also, I appreciate that the manufacturer sells them separately

Lmao same for me with the Aquatabs, backup never used them not looking forward to it. I hade a question for your peak filter, is it still working good? I bought the gravity bag and seemed to clog up alot. I also have a quickdraw platypus and they both have different storing methods, kinda confusing.

No issues so far. I only filtered a few gallons worth since that video and usually pretty clean water. I had my sea to summit pocket shower (sort of sets up like a gravity filter) clog a few times because all the sediments just makes its way to the bottom.

I'm looking to get one of those types of filtration systems. I have the aquatabs already in my pack, but I'm thinking of going with one of those.
Did you choose the LifeStraw over others for any particular reason? I'm just wondering if it is better.

Honestly, no particular reason. I didn't want something like a Grayl bottle (although I've never heard any negative feedback) with a filter incorporated inside because I prefer to have a dedicated filter aside from my water bottle.
The Sawyer Squeeze is actually one of the more popular filters out there, but it needs to be screwed onto a plastic water bottle like a smartwater or similar. I typically carry a Nalgene, so that wouldn't work.
A gravity system is great, but something like this seemed simpler, quicker to use and less bulky.
I wouldn't say the lifestraw is the best option, but it works for me at the moment.

@@CampfiresandColdBeers thanks! I'd seen the Katadyn before and was thinking one of them and it looks very similar to the LifeStraw you show.
Yeah, I think I like the idea of something like one of these rather than gravity fed or screwed onto a plastic bottle.

Nice video brother! I do use the Grayl and found it to be very practical for my use. Keep the videos coming😃

@trips_afoot thanks for watching! A camping buddy of mine uses the Grayl and it works great. Considered it for a while myself
